GSMArena says fitting two X1s in one silicon die is impossible ''because two X1s are too big to fit in a phone''.

They've forgotten just how big Firestorm (A14 Bionic, Apple M1) is. grin

A Notebookcheck comment did get my attention. The fellow said a mobile CPU with 2 Cortex-X1s in a single cluster does not make sense, because the X1 is a very power-hungry core that gets real hot.

So perhaps it's just 2.8GHz Cortex-A78 x2?

A leakster claimed GS101 Whitechapel, aka Tensor, known at Samsung LSI as Exynos 9855; will fall somewhere between Exynos 2100 and Exynos 2200 in raw performance.

What do you think, people? I think this leak makes 2x X1 more likely; unless Google's using a s***load of L2 cache?

Either way, I hope it can at least match the Snapdragon 888 in peak performance (and beat it in sustained workloads, too).

Google is actually towing the Apple line. They are pretty much the only OEM that could pull off an Apple. I'm pretty sure they will be catching many people by surprise. If Google gets this right, they've pretty much laid a really solid foundation for the next releases, and with time, they will leave Qualcomm in the dust. Qualcomm is too comfortable with getting away with whatever they release. The 888 was a shambles and almost an 808 all over again.

Phones / What Is A GSI And How To Flash GSI On Android by ORIJIN201(m): 9:18am On Sep 07, 2021
This article first appeared on https://screenontime.com/2021/09/05/what-is-a-gsi-on-android-and-how-to-flash-a-gsi/

WHAT IS A GSI AND HOW TO FLASH A GSI ON ANDROID?

A GSI (Generic System Image) is a pure, untouched implementation of Android with unmodified AOSP (Android Open Source Project) code. According to Google’s Android website, a GSI is designed to run on any Android device launched with Android 8.1 and higher. GSI became a thing as a part of Google’s project treble. What does GSI mean in a simple explanation? GSI simply means a generic system image built from the AOSP source. A GSI can run on any Android smartphone, no matter the chipset or manufacturer.

WHAT IS PROJECT TREBLE?

Project treble is the separation of Android-specific code and hardware-specific code. Android phones that launched with Android 8.1 Oreo implemented Google’s mandatory Android architecture change. This was a move taken to improve slow Android updates by manufacturers. Project treble has two major components – OS framework and Vendor.

The OS framework is Android itself; GSI and skinned Android system images from different manufacturers.
Vendors are device-specific low-level software. This low-level software consists of important device-specific drivers that help devices communicate with system images. With vendors, Android devices do not need kernel or firmware updates to boot generic system images.

HOW DOES A GSI WORK ON ANDROID?

Generic system image (GSI) is quite explanatory with its name. Generic system images are pure Android system images with no changes or alterations from the AOSP source itself. A GSI contains pure AOSP code. Since it is a generic system image, it can run on any Android device. A GSI runs on any Android device by communicating with the device vendor. Vendors provide system needed drivers for a GSI to communicate with device components, and once this is achieved, the device boots. However, sometimes, there are bugs when a GSI is booted.

HOW TO FLASH A GSI ON ANDROID

As explained earlier in this post, a GSI only needs your device-specific vendor to boot. We will be using an Android 12 GSI image for this tutorial. This tutorial is straightforward.

DISCLAIMER

You need to be calm and know what you are doing. Screenontime is not responsible if this turns out bad for your device. If you are not able to boot your device after flashing the GSI image, make sure you have your device system image to return your device to a working state. Also, be aware that you will lose your files on your device. Make sure you back up your Android device before you begin this procedure.

WHAT YOU NEED

An Android device with project treble support
Latest system files for your Android device (check your device manufacturer website)
An Unlocked Bootloader
A Windows PC/ Apple MacBook

DOWNLOAD LINKS

Device driver (this is not needed for MacBook users)
Platform tools
Android 12 GSI
If you are a OnePlus owner, you need VBMeta. You should follow this link to get it

COMMANDS IN BOOTLOADER

You should extract your device ‘boot.img’ from the system files you downloaded from your manufacturer’s website and execute the commands below

fastboot flash boot_a boot.img
fastboot flash boot_b boot.img

Flash your GSI

fastboot -w flash system <Your GSI.img>

You should disable verification

fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img

Phones / [guide] How To Select Apps You Only Want To Use VPN including Twitter. by ORIJIN201(m): 3:25pm On Sep 02, 2021
This guide will be beneficial to those who only want to use their VPN to access only Twitter or just a few apps/website restricted in our geolocation.

Here is a scenario VPN can harm you: you have the binance app. Binance is restricted in America, but your VPN location is the US. If binance picks the IP address of your VPN, your acc is likely to be closed by binance because binance is restricted in the US and some other countries too. So in this guide, you'll learn how to avoid such a pitfall when using VPN.

In this guide, we will be using a free VPN provider. You will be able to try it out yourself as you follow this guide. The free VPN picked for this guide is Windscribe VPN. Windscribe is available for your Android smartphone on the Playstore.

STEP 1 – REGISTERING AND OPENING THE APP
You can skip this step if you already own or have downloaded Windscribe VPN.

Get Windscribe VPN for Android through this Google Play link for your android device.

After you must have downloaded the Windscribe VPN on your Android smartphone, open it. You’ll be required to register an account to be able to use the VPN. Registration takes less than 2 minutes. After registering, you will have complete access and a free data allocation of 2GB. After registration, you’ll receive an additional 8GB after you provide and verify your email. You’ll receive 10GB monthly on a free account, and a premium plan earns you unlimited data access. Here is a screenshot below:

Windribe interface
STEP 2 ENABLING SPLIT TUNNELING
Split tunneling is a feature that lets you choose which app connects to the internet through a VPN. Do have in mind that some VPN apps call this feature a different name; on Surfhsark VPN it is called ‘whitelister.’ Once you get a hang of it in this tutorial, you’ll be able to figure it out in other VPN apps, and this if you choose not to stick with Windscribe VPN.

To access the menu click on the menu button

Windscribe menu
After you have done the above, you’ll see an array of clickable preferences. You should tap on ‘connection.’ After, you should have numerous preferences, including ‘split tunneling.’ See screenshot below:

Split tunneling preference
Tap on split tunneling and switch the feature on. After flipping the switch on, you’ll see two options displayed below. These options are:

Inclusive &
Exclusive.
Inclusive allows you to select apps that connect to the internet through Windscribe VPN.

Exclusive allows you to select apps that will not go through Windscribe VPN when the VPN connection is started.

Split tunneling options
The exclusive option is ideal if you want everything to go through Windscribe VPN with an exception of a few selected apps. The apps excluded will connect through your service provider’s network, for example, your banking app. And for many who just need the VPN for specific apps, the inclusive option is the right choice. Only the selected apps pass through the VPN connection.

STEP 3 CONNECT
Now, you’ve picked your preferred option. Return to the main screen of your VPN app and switch it on.

After reading this guide, you’ve learned how to select apps to exclusively use VPN on your android smartphone by split tunneling. Now, you do not have to worry about your banking apps shutting you off, or your crypto app kicking you out just because your apps think your account is about to be hijacked by an unknown entity.

Good day guys, I am in a small dilemma please
I have used 2 pixel 3, one had screen issues while the other had a bootloop, even my pixel 3xl had same issue while charging. I urgently need a new phone now, and I need something really good, a great camera and also a good performer. .
I was initially trying to avoid a used phone so I wanted to opt for RN10 Pro but I feel I may not like the camera especially coming from a pixel user, I lowkey don't mind used honestly but I just don't want problems, my last pixel didn't last up to two months.
Seeing ORIJIN201 oneplus now, I am considering oneplus

I have a 150k max budget, what will you advise..
I need a great camera because of my business...

I am looking at s10, oneplus 7 pro, iPhone x/xs, RN10pro since it will be new, or maybe pixel 4 but I heard it has battery issues, lowkey I am just tired....
OnePlus 7t camera isn't great either. With Gcam, it is better and a bit on par with the pixel 4a camera. 7t is a solid camera. I was once in your dilemma. I honestly don't know what's wrong with android OEMs, because devices are becoming finicky these days. Go with a OnePlus 7t if you don't mind the waterfall notch.
