Well said brother, but I refuse to agree to the fact that churches are non profit organizations. They make a lot of profit through this. I believe every individual that gets a name for an organization should pay task except some NGOs.

Well, it's tempting to refer to churches these days as PROFIT-MAKING organisations (what with the BILLIONS of cash inflow and outflow) and I don't blame you if you think so. The problem is, technically, if they are not SELLING goods or services, there are no REVENUES OR SALES (Hence, NO PROFIT). . . Technically. All the cash inflows are "donations" so it's hard to brand them as such. However, their affiliated businesses should be taxed (revenue from book, CD, merchandise sales etc.) Also, if their pastors are on salaries, I think they should be made to pay INCOME TAXES AS WELL.
I'm not a tax expert, but just my thoughts.

It's baseless to give such reasons for not paying tax and ignorant to say the least. Churches shouldn't pay tax because they are NON-PROFIT organisations. It's what the tax policy says (Their affiliated BUSINESSES should however). But to say you won't pay tax because you provide "everything" doesn't fly Sir. We ALL do that brov!

Well, I suppose his defence (Like Rihanna's) might be that he's living his life not necessarily to be anyone's role model. Fair point maybe. . although WITH GREAT POWER COMES GREAT RESPONSIBILITY. If I was in the spotlight, I would TRY harder (no one is perfect) to be a good example knowing that thousands look up to me. Different strokes.

As always, the Rich in Nigeria getting richer and the poor . . well, getting poorer. Clearly, just because we have a couple of billionaires in the TOP WHATEVER IN Forbes doesn't mean we are a rich country.
We need a system that evens out the wealth better. . I now corruption will eat everything 'eatable', but at least the one we can help, we should attempt it. .
I say restructure PAYEE, tax the rich more, increase corporate tax, introduce some sort of social security with the cash!
Dreams maybe, but an attempt would suffice!

Right. People don't learn! There are just certain things NOT to joke about.

That's why I sometimes wonder how appropriate it is that we (Nigerians) are quick to joke about every 'serious' issue. I understand the need to relax and live a little but we need to strike a good balance so that we are taken seriously and so that we don't come out as being insensitive to people who are actually really affected by the unfortunate circumstances that we joke about.

Hopefully, she can really use this as an opportunity to restructure her brand. Get a domain name, get some staff and really set up a proper structure. She definitely will bounce back because her brand is there already!
