JimiAgbaje2015:Uhm, Take another good look at your HANDLE. It sort of makes it hard to believe. Plus your link points to the Campaign websites. Next time get a neutral source, yeah? That said, I admire Agbaje and I think that whoever wins between both of them, Lagos won't get such a bad deal. It won't be a disaster basically. Agbaje's only undoings in this campaign have been his rather outrageous promises (free internet and reducing cost of land? Really??) as well as his infamous threat on behalf of the Niger delta war lords. May the better man win!! |
WisdomFlakes:Very well said!! They have had a horrible campaign strategy!!! And I should add, they should have spent time analysing GMB's manifesto to look for holes. That's how a campaign is run. @topic. . . I ask again, if we couldn't do it in SIX YEARS, what's to say it will be done in THREE MONTHS?! |
Ah. Good job. Remember when some people insisted that GEJ was NOT QUALIFIED to run for Presidency Guess how it was solved? That's right. The COURTS!!!!!If it weren't for the courts we would have #DisqualifyGEJ trending. A waste of time clearly. Now shall we apply the same to this case and gather all the evidence and take to court!!!!!!!!! While you are at that, shall we ask GMB how he intends to solve Boko Haram crisis and ask GEJ how he intends to tackle corruption better if given a second chance? You know, REAL ISSUES!!! |
9jii: . This made me laugh so much!!! |
Personally, there has been so much hate, vile and outrageous behaviours the past few months that I can't wait for this elections to pass. Can't wait. But, the concerns are real (PVC distribution, North eastern IDPs etc) about potential disenfranchisement. Which begs the question: After preparing for this for SIX YEARS, what's to say that another TWO MONTHS will magically solve the problem? |
Matthewbriggs:Thanks. You make very good points and these are the sorts of conversations we should be having. And the GEJ team should be pushing these efforts and making them trend just like you are, rather than focusing on distractions. The only point I would like to add is; Do you think the accusations by the PDP, saying APC is behind Boko Haram may have hurt any chances of APC uniting? Like you point out with the other countries, the opposition was bit accused of backing the terrorists. The terrorists were condemned for what they were. What do you think? We can discuss this civilly. |
Interesting article. While this group might have been arguably easier to handle compared to the monster Boko Haram has become today, it is probably an indication of what GMB can do if he comes in. Which is precisely why the Jonathan campaign should be putting him on the spot about his plans to solve the crisis. What he intends to do differently, what efforts he has personally made so far etc. But no, Fani Kayode holds a press conference on his certificate. |
atlwireles:Haha. Alright, apologies. I was just trying to clear the air on whether it was fake or not. Have a nice evening. ![]() |
atlwireles:Actually that's quite possible. But I just checked his Instagram and twitter and confirmed it myself. I suggest you do the same. ![]() Sammie was quite careless for his remark but KUDOS to him for apologising. #ElectionNotWar |
Ah. Very nice. The other day I saw the campaign billboards of the Ghanaian President. There were even posters of Obama in Kwara when he was running for a 2nd term. ![]() *sarcasm intended* |
Wow. This is so sad to watch!!! ![]() But, on a slightly unrelated note, I don't know how I feel about the death sentence, but if we had related laws (with half the strictness of implementation) for our CORRUPT OFFICIALS then we might start getting somewhere in Naija. |
Shout out to: *All those people who PRESSURE people into marrying *People who stigmatise THE WOMAN when she gets a divorce I hope you guys reflect on your actions when you see these stories! PS. The real evil person here is the husband who killed her. . . But, I'm just pointing out that societal attitude towards marriage really needs to start changing. . one person at a time! RIP to the lovely woman!! Orinoco Pulse! |

I wonder why we are SURPRISED/UPSET about this. OUR PRESIDENT condemned the Paris attacks but didn't speak about Baga! OUR PRESIDENT. So to him, it wasn't a priority, and we expect to be a priority to another nation? It's hard to hear and say, but what he said is the truth. America has a LIST of priorities and I doubt that Boko Haram will TOP ISIS, Syria, Alqueda, the Taliban or Ukraine. It's just that simple. Lastly, it's time we learnt to handle our issues and stop blaming others for it. How can CNN say that? How can Obama do that? Why did the US Military leave us? First Ask your govt questions!! |
reborn1:Lol @ Tanoids. . well, I usually like to leave the mods to d their job. I guess it's not easy with lots of interesting topics. But yeah, you are right, if it will help publicise it and see that people are held accountable then FP indeed (if i do say so my self ) |
kITATITA:Thanks for your comment. You see, that is what's most annoying! No one is answerable. I would even give GEJ the benefit of doubt and assume it was just some overzealous official trying to please his paymaster. But when something this CLEAR (CLEAR FRAUD) occurs, I would expect GEJ to take action and punish people for this! If it was in America this would be all over the media until someone resigns or is FIRED!! SMH! But it's Naija. . nothing will happen! |
Okay I just counted them and they are not up to 2 million o... lol. . just kidding. Good gesture though. Their messages seem on point. But, and I might be wrong, it didn't seem like there were clear and SMART GOALS they wanted to achieve, no? Or was it just sensitization? Did they speak to any government official? Or did I miss something? Orinoco pulse! |
Right! If I were a politician (and I will NEVER be one), I would do the same! Also, this (and the fact that there are no permanent enemies in politics) just underscores the importance of THE ELECTORATE/SUPPORTERS chilling! Especially on Nairaland. Don't kill yourselves o. . their pikins no dey naija. ![]() Orinocopulse! |
Awwwwww. . they are so pretty. I kind of like that some politicians are using family in their campaigns. It sort of gives a 'human' face to it all! Of course I won't vote for you because you have a pretty daughter. . but I think it's nice ![]() Orinoco pulse! |
Okay, I'm not sure I have seen this story on nairaland. A clear, brazen insult on the intelligence of Nigerians. Make no mistakes, I am NON-PARTISAN. I think GEJ and BUHARI are both good men but I think GEJ has performed below expectations, while Buhari might have good intentions but to me he doesn't represent the Change we badly need. This is not a PDP/APC post. It is just to highlight incompetence in some quarters and the need for people to be held accountable. In other climes, this Economic adviser would have been fired!! See story and source below: I am a regular visitor to the Northern Foreshore Estate, Lekki. When I was showed this document (see below) as one of the achievements of the president in the North East, I was immediately concerned about the similarities with the Northern Foreshore Estate, in Lekki. You can compare pictures of the estate against the image in the document prepared by the office of the Chief Economic Adviser to President Jonathan, Dr. Nwanze Okidegbe. Reno Omokri and his goons have been spreading this image as one of the successes of the president in the North East but it is indeed a private project in Lekki, Lagos. Residents or visitors to Northern Foreshore Estate, Lekki will immediately notice the semblance of the image on the government document with the estate. It is indeed not a semblance, it is the estate as we have since established. It is important for those representing our public officers to stop misrepresenting the truth in this era of new media, we have too many sharp citizens with smart phones around. We believe the president has completed real projects in the NorthEast of Nigeria can be shared with the people instead of misrepresenting the truth. borntosave:Thanks! I'm glad you like it. Y'all don't forget to get the book too! It's very eye-opening and inspiring! Orinocopulse! |
After going through a bit of Pakistan history (for political and cultural perspective), some family background before she was born and her early childhood in Pakistan - one of humble upbringing in the Pashtun Swat valley, Malala’s tale which crescendos to her near-death experience truly takes life when the Taliban got to Swat. From that moment it’s hard to put the book down. The arrival of the taliban is initially greeted with a little bit of skepticism in some quarters but for the vast majority of the people, a measure of sympathy, allegiance and even admiration. Malala describes how they were first regarded widely as custodians of sorts of the way Islam should be practised, good interpreters of the Holy Quran. Also, for a people weary of their corrupt government, the taliban’s proposition of a simpler justice system, amongst other promises, was a cherry on the cake. Things however begin to take a different turn with the rapid introduction of several edicts - strict restrictions on what women could do, where they could go; banning of movies, music, dancing and even stopping vaccinations in the name of sharia. But it’s when they turn their attention to education (especially female education) and begin to commit mass murders that Malala and her dad (himself a school proprietor) with a few lone voices are forced to begin their campaign against the Taliban. The pulse of the book builds up and plateaus when the Taliban attacks her, as she fights for her life and is eventually flown out of pakistan for further treatment. She ends the story by describing her slow road to recovery and her resolve to keep speaking up for the voiceless and a firm determination to ensure that no child is deprived of their fundamental right to education. Here are a few of my thoughts on it. One, I consider it to contain a very decent treatise on the complexity of religious extremism. You can begin to understand what the probable origin(s) of this global scourge is(are) as well as the factors that continue to fuel it (ignorance being not the least of them). This proves helpful in societies that a relatively new to terrorism (like Nigeria) and where it’s motive has been prone to all sorts of interpretations. It goes without saying that an understanding of the fundamental causes is an integral part of the path to finding a solution. Secondly, no other book has ever made me so fully immersed in what it must be like to live “in” terrorism. Of course you can never truly know what it’s like but Malala’s vivid description of how their lives were transformed from simple yet peaceful to chaos and fear comes close. It’s even more touching because it is told by a young teenage girl. Not just because of the obvious vulnerability of someone so young but because this is someone in a gender and age bracket which is arguably the most targeted by the extremists. I wish more people would tell their stories. Maybe it’d help bring the problem closer home. See concluding part from the source: http://www.orinocopulse.com/i-am-malala/ Thanks!! ![]() |

Really? Does anyone still take Asari Dokubo seriously? |
I can 'almost' understand why everyone is trying to use this success to gain points, but some of them are just outright ridiculous to say the least! Enough already! NO ONE put so much in line as much as the HEALTH WORKERS! The DOCTORS and NURSES that acted fast to identify and contain it. . and the ones that risked their lives to SAVE the patients that were treated! End of story! Everyone else should stop trying to take credit. Orinoco pulse! |
A combination of IGNORANCE and STUPIDITY by the dude. . and FAILURE of the authorities. Similar to the generator fumes that still kill families. Too sad. Orinoco pulse! |
Most people won't admit it, but light-skinned girls are generally considered more attractive than dark-skinned girls. #fact. So this pushes some insecure girls to bleach, unfortunately. BUT, in this case, Maheeda looks better dark-skinned. EPICFAIL for her ![]() Orinoco pulse! |

Okay, this is based on some experiences. . It's also meant to be mostly for laffs! Enjoy! ![]() 12. A round of applause for the pilot please. If you’re lucky, you get the back-in-naija sensation right from the plane as it lands - at no extra costs. No sir, you can’t give the pilots a standing ovation. . no seriously you can’t. Seat belts please! 11. Anything for the boys? The over-eagerness to please. That exaggerated grin from ear to ear. That knowing look by everyone from the restroom attendant, to the bank/eatery security guards. . .The look that says, surely you must realise that I don’t get paid enough. So give me some cash for doing my job. Anything for the boys? But you are middle-aged women. My Oga do Sallah for your guy. Isn’t that Christopher James I see on your name badge? Aunty do Christmas for us. My word! It’s only September. 10. The cheap cabs Your heart doesn’t skip a bit each time the meter reading increases. Heck, there are no meters in most of the cabs and the fares are negotiable (so is a lot of stuff. . yipee!). When you remember how much equivalent journeys cost you, you are grateful for the cheap cabs. . . .except abuja cabs. For those, you feel guilty, like you are cheating the cab-driver. Oga how much does it cost from Wuse zone 2 to zone 53? 100 naira! *Bless me Father for surely I’m about to sin. . .* 9. Your left hand? Surely the gods will strike you! Ah, so you thought your sojourn was akin to a pilgrimage of sorts for your left hand? Ha! Right. Wrong! Now that you are back, it’s still unworthy pal? Prepare to be reprimanded when you use your left hand to give someone (God forbid it’s an elder) something. At best, they frown at you and quickly swap hands, using their left hand (yeah that one that was NOT created by God) to receive it from you. This doesn’t apply when you hand some cash to an elderly needy person. He grins, bows, temporarily ignores “culture” and receives it with BOTH hands - a sign of respect ![]() 8. I’ll pay for it. No need to bring out your calculators or solve some complex algebra when we go out to eat, for drinks or take a cab ride. There’s someone nice enough to “handle it” thanks very much. 7.
