I can't fault this article. What I still find hard to understand is how the powers that be made WIKE win the governorship primaries over ODEIN AJUMOGOBIA (A perfect gentleman, technocrat and all-round smart, nice guy!) how? |
Pow!! That was a low blow! Lol. Sub received. Hehe. But seriously though, considering that Buhari/Idiagbon is the only administration that is known by a DUAL name, it sort of tells me that Buhari can delegate and that Osinbajo (who is a bright chap, with integrity) will be pretty busy! That's a good thing to me! |
DevilishKiller:Oh I only saw Dele Alake's interview. I understand there has NOT been an official STATEMENT yet from APC. I hope they reconsider. CHANNELS is as UNBIASED as we can get. |
Totally agree Barcanista!! It's CHANNELS. Surely they are as unbiased as it gets. There has not been an official statement for APC, so I hope they reconsider!!! Debates are a necessary part of an election, especially for people who are undecided to make a choice!! |
This is hardly relevant, but I notice a clear support along ETHNIC LINES. Check it again and you'll observe. Sad shame. |
Irony is when a thread talking about peaceful coexistence of opposing sides is FILLED WITH HATEFUL POSTS from both sides. Com'on Nairaland. ![]() |
banki:First, I am non-partisan. I just see and say things as they are. Secondly, a group can show they are more mature by not replicating unacceptable behaviour. It's like someone going to Do a "Fayose ad" for Jonathan. Be the bigger person. |
I am dissatisfied with GEJ's performance for 6 years and his administration's gaffes are too numerous to mention. However, this is in BAD TASTE!! Classless and although, in a much smaller scale, bears similarities to Fayose's Death wish!! If the truth be told. . . |
thunder74:Yes, if I am convinced that they've adhered strictly to the constitution. |
ibisko04:Well, the point is campaign crowds are generally motivated by a lot of factors. Some people just want to see the President's face, some love the party atmosphere, some go in the hopes of monetary benefits etc. In any case, both parties have arguably pulled crowds and you will be hard pressed to determine the winner based on crowds. That's all I'm saying pal. ![]() |
Some hope in the Judiciary. For how long can they stay neutral though? |
Okay. Good attempt at an analysis. But I hope both parties realise that campaign crowds don't win votes. If I was jobless and my friends told me that we could get some cash by simply going to dance at a stadium, I won't think twice about it. I will go to GEJ, GMB, DYR, MSC . . All their campaigns. ![]() Crowds and a lack of it only help ignite or weaken a momentum but not really an indication of who will win. Neither does ONLINE POPULARITY. Just saying. |
If AIT actually made this statement, good. Now here is the challenge: Let them have a full-proof system (verifiable) and re-open the polls. How's that? That said, so far, only news agencies like CHANNELS are probably able to do these polls and debates without a lot of accusations. I think they need to step up! |
LABARAN MAKU AND EMEKA WORGU I Can never forget the role they played to scuttle the OCCUPY NIGERIA movement! |
Flets:Good analysis and I agree with 2 and 3 strongly. 1) that's debatable. He may have been responding to try to salvage some rep when someone asked "where is Soludo". Also, if he did it for political "gains", bashing both major parties is not the way about. In terms of timing, regardless of when this came out, it would be seen as political anyways. On 4) statistics are complex and can be interpreted and computed in various ways. But in terms of poverty, DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE ONLY 33% of Nigerians are poor? In other words. ONLY 3 OUT OF 10. Think about that! |
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala responds to Soludo's article (through her special assistant) http://fbablogs.com/2015/01/28/okonjo-iwealas-sa-media-responds-to-charles-soludos-article/ My opinion, FFK should have just been quiet and wait for this more thorough response. But, I think I should learn to ignore him (and Fayose) While it begins by attacking Soludo's person way too much (to be fair, Soludo did some personality attack as well) it actually defends the Economic team with some facts. Like Soludo's article, it's not perfect but it's a good response. Although I would have preferred SOME admission that Soludo was right in some areas and his suggestions are well taken. |
Sunnybobo3:Largely true. To be fair, Ogundamisi later apologised for that, saying a supporter sent it to him but that's a good that should never have been made. AyeDee on the other hand, while I respect his maturity in communication and analysis, has also hard his fair share of propaganda spread (just check his timeline) and to be honest he seems to have an axe to grind with GMB (a man he once proclaimed as THE BEST HEAD OF STATE NIGERIA EVER HAD). ![]() |
I'm not particularly a fan of either of them. I glance at their twitter timelines every once in a while. They've both had their fair shares of propaganda to be honest (see their timelines) but one thing I can say ( especially for Mr AyeDee, because he gets A LOT OF INSULTS on twitter) is that they hardly resort to insulting people who criticise them. Either reply politely or ignore. They have my respect for that. I wish it could be similar on Nairaland. Respect opinions. If you have a point, you don't need to insult, just make your point intelligently! |
thunder74:Just like Buhari did not make the "we will make the country ungovernable" statement (Please refer to links where Abati apologised and case was settled out of court) but failed to STRONGLY CONDEMN it, GEJ is doing the same now. Wasn't his special adviser at that meeting? Isn't that almost a stamp of approval? Are their statements not a direct assault on the constitution he SWORE to protect? How come Abati hasn't released a statement to disown their "threats" that whether elections are free and fair or not, they would cause chaos. Sometimes, put aside APC PDP sentiments and just look at things from an unbiased point of view. Just like we CONDEMN anyone who vows to make the country ungovernable if elections are rigged, we should also condemn the militants' statements or Fayose's death wish. What is wrong is wrong! |
Kachisbarbie:Haha. Speaking of COHERENT presidents, sometimes it hurts to know that DONALD DUKE could have been the PRESIDENT of this country, if the powers that be were not all out to install a "submissive" VP (after the "Atiku experience" ![]() President Donald Duke!! His swag alone . . And his delectable Onari. Well, God knows best!! |
Again, much better response than what FFK put together. Still waiting for a FACT-BASED rebuttal from them. NOI, Abati, Aganga. Surely they are not all paid to spread propaganda!!! |
Caseless:Okay this is one part of Soludo's article I laughed at. You do realise that we DO NOT have a University in the TOP 1000 in the world!! Not to mention 200. Haha. The quality of schools in the top 200 ehn? The quality of research, papers, staff, input to society, teaching facilities etc. Top 200. Is it beans? I laugh. So yes, while establishment of "new" institutions is commendable as it can help foster the spread of education, improving the quality of the existing should be given even more attention. When you experience education abroad, you realise we haven't started yet. Long way to go PS. I usually don't like to "harass" the mods to move a topic to FP, but yeah this should be there. Perhaps it can inspire a more articulate and FACT-BASED rebuttal from GEJ's team. Again, I'm not holding my breathe. |
A MUCH BETTER response to Soludo's masterpiece than that thing FFK put up. Please note that BOTH PARTIES deservedly got a lashing from Soludo (albeit the current admin got more, seeing as he could talk about THEIR achievements or lack of it thereof). Here, Fayemi takes on each item of Soludo's criticism of the APC and tries to address them (in my opinion still lacking in details) rather than give a story of how "confused" Soludo is. FFK should be ashamed! I am still hoping someone from the government will have a rebuttal with COUNTER-FACTS. Not blind accusations and sentiments. Not holding my breathe though. |
So with all the propaganda running around, I wondered why nobody had found any "dirt" on OSIBANJO. Surely someone must have been assigned to dig up stuff (because talking about real issues are old school). Since nothing was found on him, Buhari unfortunately had to bare the brunt of the propaganda!!! Well, finally someone is bold enough to ask some REAL QUESTIONS. How did he become a Professor? Hmmmmmm. Can we get this trending to keep us busy for a bit. Soludo's article threatens to force us to talk "boring real issues" so we need something to distract us! Good job OP!! |
Long read but you make very valid points. However, I am usually not quick to believe statements attributed to people. Unless I hear a verifiable audio recording or I see a video (like when the Bishop slapped a girl). So while it's tempting to believe Bishop said the "gates of hell" statement perhaps due to his previous remarks, I would still give him the benefit of doubt (and some people have claimed they were there and he was misquoted) All in all, I think the media are lagging behind when it comes to proper FACT-CHECKING. In advanced countries ( we have been advised to stop comparing. . . Lol), these things don't just fly, someone FACT-CHECKS!!! |
mutiply:Well, that's possible. Only a % of the "online voters" will eventually vote. But that is a % cut off from ALL THE CANDIDATES. So this should still be a reasonable reflection. That's what it should be. Usually not the case unfortunately due to a variety of factors (can't go into them now) |
The best part of this is how people easily believe that IBB is somewhere in Minna logging on to twitter and using a *crying* emoticon. ![]() "People these days believe everything on the internet as long as there are quotes and a name to it" - Abraham Lincoln (1935) |
Amaechi was being ridiculous for not allowing them to use it? Under maintenance? After using it just a few weeks back? That said, this is condemnable and we should be able to say what is wrong is wrong regardless of party affiliations. DID YOU KNOW that when the APC wants to hold it's convention, after applying and paying for the NATIONAL STADIUM (a federal stadium), the federal government refused them usage. Fayemi and his team PEACEFULLY went and carried it out in the TESLIM BALOGUN STADIUM!! |
9jatriot:Haha. Okay no Wahala. Thanks. Maybe I'll do some search myself. I'd like to give him more credit though. ![]() |
Lol. Naaah. This is hard to believe. Com'on, there has to be a Source somewhere. I don't believe this. I knew what the phrase JOB SECURITY meant when I was in secondary school. Com'on guys. Let's stop playing jor. ![]() |
