A woman has taken to social media to reveal that she just parked out from her matrimonial home less than a year after getting married.

The lady used a moving truck to pack her belongings and move to a new place, noting that she was married for six months.

In efforts to successfully prosecute the presidential ambition of Peter Obi of Labout party, Professor Pat Utomi has revealed that the crowdfunding portals Nigerians in the Diaspora planned to launch for the presidential candidate would soon be unveiled. Recall that Nigerians in the diaspora had formed groups to launch crowdfunding initiatives for Obi.

Arise TV reports that they planned to unveil crowdfunding portals with a target to raise $150 million from Obi’s supporters in the diaspora and N100 billion from those in Nigeria.

They are reportedly targeting small amounts in contributions from supporters largely at the grassroots to help the LP set up more structures across the country and make the former Anambra State governor a formidable contender in the presidential race.

Utomi said: “When the time is right, we are going to obviously solicit from Nigerians across the board. We are setting up portals where people can give money. “The portals would be up next week or so and eventually we would solicit for funds from the diaspora. But right now, we are on a sensitisation tour about what makes democracy work. Former President Goodluck Jonathan has stated how his administration resolved a four-month old strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in one day.

He said this on Wednesday in Abuja at the 70th birthday celebration of Matthew Hassan Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, organised by The Kukah Centre.

Daily Trust reports that the university lecturers have been on strike since February this over over irreconcilable difference with the Federal Government.

“The society we are managing is complex, now we are talking about ASUU strike, during my time too, ASUU had four months of strike, different committees were meeting and meeting and nothing was working. I said how can our children stay out of school for four months? So I had to call a meeting of all the leadership of ASUU.

“I presided over the meeting with my vice president, the Attorney General was there, I said that that night we must solve the problem. The Attorney General was there, Second to the Government of the Federation was there, the ministers of education were there, the labor ministers were there the finance ministers, everybody that has to do with it.

“And I thought that my being there would help us to do things quickly. But we spent the whole night, before we finished on like 5:30am Before we concluded and the strike was called off, so there were issues,” Jonathan said.

He noted that Bishop Kukah despite his friendship with leaders also bash them when he feel they were not doing some things right, including himself.

Doyin Okupe, the director general, Obi-Datti Campaign Organisation, has debunked the reports claiming that Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential candidate made a deal to step down for Atiku Abubakar, the PDP flag bearer. In a statement posted on Twitter on Wednesday, August 31, Okupe said Obi is far ahead of all other presidential candidates and cannot negotiate with less popular peers.

Speaking to Nigerians in Frankfurt, Germany, on Friday, Obi also asked Nigerians to carry out background checks on all presidential candidates to determine if they know what Nigerians need. The Southern and Middle-Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF) has described as robust and gracious, it’s meeting with the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi in Lagos.

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has urged Nigerian politicians to remove religion from politics.


Bello spoke while stressing that the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was a perfect match.

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has said it spent the whooping sum of N18.9billion on bush clearing, land preparation, others during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The Ministry stated this while being probed by the Public Account Committee of the House of Representatives Committee (PAC) on how it spent the said sum.

An investigation was launched after the agric ministry gave out an N18.9 billion contract for bush clearing, preparing the ground, and restoring soil plant laboratories during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown.

Agric ministry tells The Chairman of the committee, Wole Oke, speaking on the investigation said, “During the lockdown of the country as a result of COVID-19, some companies took contracts worth about N18 billion for bush clearing from the federal ministry of agriculture for land preparation, rehabilitation of soil plant lab and others. We cannot shave their heads in their absence.

We have invited them to come and give us their own side by responding to the issues and show us the places they are supposed to have cleared. They have to take us to the land they cleared.

We have invited the ministry of agriculture, and they have made (a) submission. But some of our members whose constituencies these projects were supposed to be domiciled doubted the existence of these projects, and for (a) fair hearing, we have invited the companies that got the contract for them to come and tell this committee where and when the jobs were executed.”

Governor Nyesom Wike has backtracked on a lawsuit challenging Atiku Abubakar’s primary election victory, stating the deadline for filing such suits had long elapsed.

Speaking with ThisDay, Mr Wike denied having knowledge of the suit and implied someone else may have filed the suit without his knowledge.

“I don’t know anything about the so-called suit. I did not ask anyone to file any suit for me,” the governor told the medium.

“I don’t know the lawyers, am I a kid to be filing a suit at this time. I had 14 days after the primary within which to have filed any suit. I didn’t do that then, is it two months after primary I will file a suit?” Mr Wike said.

Mr Wike’s lawsuit, first reported by Peoples Gazette on Thursday, had been filed alongside another PDP member Michael Ekamon, according to filings entered before the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court. The applicants also joined the PDP, Governor Aminu Tambuwal and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the matter.

The parties were served on July 1, and a PDP official responded to the originating summons on August 5 in Abuja.

Mr Ekamon could not be reached for comments about whether or not Mr Wike was telling the truth about his knowledge of the legal action.

Relations between Messrs Wike and Abubakar have become strained since the latter clinched the party’s presidential ticket and chose David Okowa as his running mate, against the recommendation of a select committee who put forward Mr Wike.

The Rivers state governor polled 237 votes, against Atiku’s 371 votes, making him the candidate with the second highest votes at the PDP convention which was held in May.

Constituting a reconciliation panel, party officials have intensified efforts to resolve the cold war between the duo, as they both wield strong political influence that would determine PDP’s victory or loss at the 2023 general elections.

Festus Keyamo, the minister of state for labour and employment has rated the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, ahead of Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in terms of his capacity to make decisions. The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, on Friday said it was unrealistic for the Federal Government to borrow money to end the months-long strike embarked by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

He made the comment while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

“Should we go and borrow to pay N1.2 trillion yearly?

“You cannot allow one sector of the economy to hold you by the jugular and then blackmail you to go and borrow N1.2 trillion for overheads when our total income would be about N6.1 trillion. And you have roads to build, health centres to build, other sectors to take care of.”
