Three Black Men Wrongly Jailed For Life In The United States, Set Free.

Three Baltimore men who were wrongly imprisoned for 36 years in Maryland, United States have been set free after a review of the murder case they were prosecuted for.

The three men identified as Alfred Chestnut, Ransom Watkins and Andrew Stewart, were reportedly teenagers when they were sentenced to life in prison in 1984. They were accused of being responsible for the murder of 14-year-old DeWitt Duckett who was shot in the neck on his way to class at a Baltimore junior high school and also stealing his Georgetown University jacket.

They were released from custody on Monday November 25, hours after a judge cleared their convictions and prosecutors dropped the charges.

“These three men were convicted, as children, because of police and prosecutorial misconduct,” Baltimore state attorney Marilyn Mosby said after the men were released.

In a statement, her office said “detectives targeted the three men, all 16-year-old black boys, using coaching and coercion of other teenage witnesses to make their case”.

Speaking at a press conference after they were released, Watkins said:

“This should have never happened. Somebody’s got to pay for this,” he said. “You can’t just leave this like this. This fight is not over.”

Stewart on the other hand said “When I got the information, I cried, and I didn’t know how to stop crying until a friend of mine came to me and hugged me and said, ‘Man your journey is coming to an end,’ but it is not, my journey is just beginning, because I got to learn how to live right now.”

It was learnt the case was reopened earlier this year by the office of Baltimore City State’s Attorney Mosby after Chestnut sent a letter to the Conviction Integrity Unit. The Washington Post reported Chestnut included exculpatory evidence he uncovered last year.

During examinations the Baltimore prosecutor’s office found errors in the investigation and the new review concluded that a different student, who was 18 at the time of the crime was the shooter.

The new suspect who was shot dead in 2002 was seen fleeing from the scene and dumping a gun as police arrived at Harlem Park Junior High School, but authorities at the time focused their investigation on the trio.

“Everyone involved in this case – school officials, police, prosecutors, jurors, the media, and the community – rushed to judgment and allowed their tunnel vision to obscure obvious problems with the evidence,” said Shawn Armbrust, executive director of the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project, which represents Watkins.

Armbrust added that “this case should be a lesson to everyone that the search for quick answers can lead to tragic results”.

Christianity and Islam are arrogant religions – Bisi Alimi

Bisi Alimi has condemned Christianity and Islam after a Christian sent him a mail preaching to him.

Sharing a screenshot of the mail, the gay rights activist wrote:

Got this via email today and it sends out few messages for me;

1- Abrahamic religion is an arrogant self loathing religion. I know some people will come here and say not all Muslims or not all Christian, but the truth be told, the world will be a better place without these two blood thirsty arrogant religions
2- it sends a message that homophobia has no border or boundary, some are just more diplomatic with Theo fateful bullshit than others.
3- That religion is a self hating and spiteful movement that despite what it says, lack the component of human connection, empathy and care.
4- finally that like every other idiots online hiding behind religion, this person (possibly a man) that sends this message needs love and care more than I do.

Imagine me, being a young or vulnerable gay man, still struggling with my sexuality as either a Christian or Muslim. Still being hunted by the fear of hell fire and opening my inbox and receiving this kind of message from someone who doesn’t know me but think that he/ she is doing me a favour by indicating that hell fire is my portion?

This is why I will never give a yard in grace to religion, it doesn’t matter how it is practice, it is still rooted in arrogance and self loathing.

Below is the mail he received.

I am one of the unhappiest Leaders in the world – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari says the spike in activities of bandits and kidnappers across the country has made him one of the unhappiest leaders in the world.

Several states, including Zamfara and Kaduna, have come under repeated attacks by suspected hoodlums.

The attacks have left many dead with many properties destroyed.

On Saturday, some protesters marched to the presidential villa in Abuja over the persistent killings in Zamfara.

In a statement by Garba Shehu, his spokesman, Buhari said his mind is constantly preoccupied with the insecurity challenges in the country.

The president described as “ridiculous”, claims that he is indifferent to the incidents.

He explained that as human, he understands the pains of the victims of the attacks.

“How can I be happy and indifferent to the senseless killings of my fellow citizens by bandits?,” Buhari asked.

“I am human and I understand the pains of the victims and their families who have been traumatized and impoverished by constant ransom demands by bandits.

“The politicisation of tragedy reveals the darkest sides of our primitive politics. Almost every week, I summon my security chiefs to get an update on the strategies being devised to defeat these mass murderers.

“There is no issue that dominates my mind every 24 hours like security because, as an elected president, protecting the citizens of my country is one of the primary functions of my administration.

“It is, therefore, ridiculous to suggest that I am indifferent to these killings.

He added that he would do whatever it takes to ensure the country’s security system confronts the perpetrators of the crimes.

“Christians need to embrace divorce”- Daddy Freeze

On air personality, Freeze has said Christians need to embrace divorce in certain situations and he went on to explain.

According to the leader of the Free Nation, divorce is not the end of an era, rather, it’s the end of an error.

He further advised his followers to be extremely careful while choosing a partner, so as not to find themselves in an era of error.

Daddy Freeze wrote on Instagram:

We as Christians need to embrace divorce in situations where it becomes inevitable. Although our teachers taught us otherwise, it is now clear that those teachers are untaught when it comes to the true meaning of Christianity, teaching traditions of men instead.

A person in an abusive marriage would have a higher tendency to yield to the temptation to cheat or sin.
Christ clearly said that if your Good eye or strong hand should make you sin, remove it, let alone your already bad marriage.

Christ said that adultery is the only reason why divorce can be permitted. Lets remember that our Lord and savior also said that looking lustfully at a woman is already adultery. (Matthew 5:28)

Christ said friendship with the world is adultery. (James4:4) Many ‘believers’ today are immersed in the adultery of mammon worship through the love of money, the things of this world and by raising altars of dollars and Naira to demonic entities, in twisted christian worship, so if your spouse leads you into this sin or practices this sinful prosperity seeking faith, it’s in my opinion grounds for a divorce.

The Apostles also confirmed this; saying that if a non believing spouse wants to leave, let them go, further stating that a christian is not bound to such a person. 90% of Nigerian ‘christians’ are NOT believers of the true faith, worshiping their pastors and GOs instead, many of whom have clearly departed from the path of light and are led by greed into the worship of money. If someone like that leaves, you are NOT bound to such a person any longer.

7 celebrities you should know their real names

Here are seven celebrities we think you should know their real names.

You know how you become friends with someone and get used to their nickname and at some point, you can’t even remember their actual names…

Well, we have celebrities who have nicknames and stage names that have stuck in our heads for years. These names have become brands for them, even their fans can sometimes argue that those names were actually given to them by their parents.

From actors to singers and comedians, we have a number of celebrities who we think, you all should get to know their real names…just so you don’t get it all mixed up in the future.

1. Ali Baba
Ali Baba needs no introduction as we know what this man has done in the entertainment industry over the last 3 decades

Guys, Ali Baba needs no introduction as we know what this man has done in the entertainment industry over the last 3 decades and still counting. He is known as the godfather of stand up comedy in Nigeria and his years and success in the industry has made that sector a very lucrative one.
Ali Baba’s real name is Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome

The truth is a lot of people do not have a clue what his real name is and even those who know still find it difficult to pronounce it. Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome is not the kind of name you’d hear every day so when next you are at an event and someone is introduced to you with that name, please look out for the comedy icon, Ali Baba.

2. Basketmouth
Basketmouth has been in the stand up comedy industry for over a decade now [ Instagram/Basketmouth]

At the mention of the name Basketmouth, only one person comes to mind; the dreadlocks (Wannabe), charming, funny and spontaneous comedian. Since his sojourn into comedy over a decade ago, Basketmouth has grown to become not just one of the biggest comedians in Nigeria but in the globe. The award-winning comedian has been able to create an impression that he isn’t just a ‘smartass’ but very good at his job.

Basketmouth’s real name is Bright Okpocha just in case you didn’t know and we think lately he has been doing a lot to let people know. We guess we’ve been so carried away with his amazing talent that we just don’t bother to know his real name. He is bright like his name implies and amazingly talented.

3. DJ Cuppy
DJ Cuppy has been able to break into an industry predominated by men

It’s only normal for disc jockeys to come up with an alias because it sounds really cool and works for their brands. So it’s no surprise DJ Cuppy has a name that sounds not only cool but sexy for a female disc jockey. Even though we don’t how she came up with the name, it certainly has nothing to do with her real name.
DJ Cuppy’s real name is Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola and she is the heiress to the Otedola dynasty

Imagine if DJ Cuppy’s stage name was DJ Florence or DJ Floxxy Floxxy…naaaa…it would have sounded outdated or funny, right? Well her actual name is Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola and she is the heiress to the Otedola billionaire dynasty. In case you are wondering what her close family members call, we think you have a clue now.

4. Mr Eazi
Mr Eazi has since become one of the biggest music stars from Africa

When this fine gentleman first stormed the music industry a few years ago, little or nothing was known about him. In just a few months, Mr Eazi became a household name as everyone couldn’t get enough of his back to back hit songs. Mr Eazi has since become one of the biggest music stars from Africa and it doesn’t look like he will be slowing down anytime soon.
Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade is Mr Eazi’s real name and he’s a trained engineer

We know how we can all get caught up in loving a singer and not even have any idea of their names especially when they have a stage name. Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, a 1990s baby also known as Mr Eazi is that guy with the musical talent that kept fans wanting more as he serenades them with his talent.

5. Burna Boy
The last one year has probably on of Burna Boy’s most successful, career-wise as we’ve seen him release hit songs all year roundnight with four awards in his bags

Burna Boy’s music career gained massive momentum a few years ago and since then it has been no going back for him. The last one year has probably been one of Burna Boy’s most successful years, career-wise as we’ve seen him release hit songs all year round. Basically, Burna Boy is that singer whose personal lifestyle has been so overshadowed by his career that we don’t really know much about him.

Okay, let’s make it easy for you guys, just in case you don’t know the singer’s real name, its simple, Damini Ogulu is his name and his from Rivers state, south-south Nigeria. So when next you are busily famzing your favourite celeb, do remember to have his name at the back of your mind…Okay?

Wizkid is one of the biggest singers to have emerged from Nigeria

Every country has that celebrity who is not just popular but idolized by many. For Nigeria, Wizkid is that celebrity, as he isn’t just one of the biggest singers from this part of the world but has a massive followership. When we say massive, we are talking about his fan base at concerts, followers on social media and to make it more interesting, his foot soldiers who can do anything for him, free of charge.
But wait! Do you really know Wizkid’s real name? Or are you only interested in his talent? If you say you are a huge Wizkid fan, then you should know that his real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun. Even though some of his fans already know this, we feel those on the ‘Lastma’ should jump on it.

7. Don Jazzy
Don Jazzy like we all know is the master of his craft and has year in, year out proved to many why is called the Don

The name Don Jazzy alone sounds like the kind of name that would open doors and get you a front seat at a concert at the mention of it. Who doesn’t want to be called a don? Don Jazzy like we all know is the master of his craft and has year in, year out proved to many why he is called the Don. We all know the story of how he has in two decades created music stars in Nigeria, making him one of the country’s biggest music producer.
