That small Tiger gen is always a tale of woes despite the much touted fuel efficiency it has. If you can totally service that small Tiger gen by yourself without having to call an engine mechanic for every fault then go with the small Tiger, but mind you, that Tiger has at least 3 variants in the market {main original, China original and China substandard} and you won't believe the price of the main original one if they told you. Hence they will rather keep selling the cheaper and substandard ones rather than trying to convince you that Original Tiger is 28k thereabouts.

As for the Sumec firman, I'd rather advice you buy a 'firman' product. There's a difference between firman and Sumec firman, the guy that was advertising Ezechuddy can enlighten us more. But if you are going for the firman, be sure to have an above average maintenance habit towards it, that 1.8kva gen has a constant need for regular oil gauging and changing. Change the oil once every month and service it every 2 months or thereabouts and it's a darling.


Talking about fuel consumption, it all depends on a combination of these factors - the ability of your mechanic to adjust your carburettor for less fuel consumption, the power output you tune on the engine {that screw you use to 'high' the engine} and the load it's carrying . When I use the small firman 1800, I put off unnecessary bulbs and those that must be on are energy saving bulbs. 1litre lasts for about 3hrs with freezer, could last longer without the freezer and any unnecessary fans.

I have been taking care of my mother since before I got married, I have other brothers older and younger but they are not financially buoyant. (So they claimed) I did not mind this but kept on caring for her ( house rent, feeding, other bills).

Although it's a burden to me, but she is my mother. Now my wife suggest that any money I want to give to her should pass through her (I will send to my wife then she sends to my mother) or she does the sending and I later pay her back.

Before I conclude, let me say that I was forced to undertake this quickly because my transmission was beginning to fail.

The problem degenerated from 2-3 flare to sluggish 1st.

Then there was 3-2 clunk

Then came binding in 2nd, which was very severe when cold. Once 2nd is commanded, it would be as if the brakes were being applied fully and released in quick succession. To reduce that, I would need to let the vehicle get warm, and then perform garage shift. . Nothing wears a friction faster than a bind.

Then finally lost 1st and 2nd gears. The vehicle will start in 3rd, even though the computer always commanded it properly. It would also not respond correctly to scan tool commands. Then I knew I had to do something quickly before I would be forced to drop the transmission, to attend to clutches burnt beyond use.

One more thing - I found my filter seal broken. Replaced with a new one.


In summary, I repaired the valve body; major additional work being on the solenoids. A lot happened in working on the solenoids, but I chose to leave it out so I can close this endeavour with this post. If anybody has a question, ask.

Put the valve body back, cleared adapts, warmed it up, performed garage shift, and took it for a test. It went straight through all the gears with silk shifts, to my pleasant surprise! I had expected it to start relearning. I have driven a bad transmission for so long I am yet to get used to a working one.

So brethren, I have overcome the notorious '13 pin'!
