I bought a Nigerian used car in 2021 and collected all relevant documents. But on getting home I realized the cmr was missing. I called the seller and was told he misplaced it. I proceeded to renew the documents and got another cmr I have driving the car with the old plates. This year I got a call from someone who calms to be from car monitors asking if I was the one that registered the car I said no so he told me to send my full names and the color of the car. Am confused. As I have renewed the papers twice even the documents will expire Jan next year. Am really confused kindly assist.

With the current rate of purchasing a Tokunbo vehicle and people opting for a Nigerian used vehicles, here are some important things to note before making that purchase.
1. Make sure the seller you're buying from has an identity, you don't just buy from a random person with no link to anyone or anywhere so you won't be buying a stolen vehicle. Do your due diligence before buying a Nigerian used car.

2. When inspecting, take your "trusted" mechanic along, don't depend on your own little knowledge about cars to make a purchase, look under the vehicle for any rust make you no go buy "panda or" lowe" (that word is for the street for useless or fake stuff ).

3. Check the vehicle papers very well, ask for the custom papers, make sure all documents are intact. From the vehicle papers, check the VIN/Chassis Number written or inscribed on the windshield, engine hood and door sides if they correlate with the one on the documents, most people register vehicles with a lot discrepancies, if they don't correlate na wahala be that oo(though I can help you rectify that but e go cost you some money).

4. Try and negotiate the cost of processing your change of ownership and registration fees along when you're dealing and negotiating with the seller, the cost of changing ownership with due process is on the high side now as you know the FG has increased the price of number plates across the nation.

5. After making payment, make sure you both sign an agreement for and purchase receipt to legally show your transaction and the amount you bought it.

6. After doing the 5 above, you can now contact oga VD for your proper vehicle registration . Thank you

Please i just saw my car was billed last year for driving with expired road worthiness.

The document was to expire on the 21st of May,2022 and i paid on the 16th of May, 2022.
The referral note states that I'm to go to Agbowa-Imota Inspection Centre, Yaba Station for inspection. On Monday the 16th of May, 2022 when I got there, the officials i met at the gate said the Inspection machine was bad and I should check back in a week time. I went back the following week, which was on Monday the 23rd of May, 2022, I was told the machine hasn't been fixed yet. I then went to the inspection centre at Oshodi the same day, 23rd of May, 2022. But I was turned down that my inspection centre according to the referral note says my centre is Yaba station. I drove from there the same 23rd of May, 2022 onto Anthony inspection centre and I was told by the security man at the entrance to the inspection centre, that the Inspection machine is currently been worked on that I should check back on Thursday which was on the 26th of May, 2022. It was on that day my vehicle was inspected and I was issued the RWC.

Also it should be worthy of note that in the referral note it was boldly written and I quote ' This referral note is issued in lieu of RWC and it will expire on 2022-07-14'. Please can I contest this?
