Nwoye Will Make a Good Governor, Says Ekwueme Secretary of the Enugu State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr Peter Ekwueme, who is also a contemporary of Dr Tony Nwoye, the All Progressives Congress’ governorship candidate in Anambra State, says Anambra will be better with his classmate as governor. He spoke to Tobi Soniyi. Excerpts: I have no doubt whatsoever that Anambra in Dr Tony Nwoye’s hands will experience its best run of governance ever.....Ekwueme How well do you know the APC candidate given the articles you have been publishing about him? Dr Tony Nwoye is someone I have known forever. Our paths crossed way back in our pre university days. He was in Metropolitan College Onitsha while I was in Christ the king College (C. K. C). Being a very intelligent and socially active person, Tony was a constant feature in the inter-school contests. He led his school in quiz competitions, debates, JET club contests and the likes. I led mine in same events. So we started off as adversaries really but had mutual respect for each other. We got into the same College of Medicine, University of Nigeria Nsuka (UNN), played our parts in the Medical Students Association of our Alma matter UNMSA, SUG and the likes. Because of his natural gift for leadership, man management and organization, Tony became an instant hit, dusted his contemporaries and those that came even before him. The rest is now history. So, I knew him first as an adversary (laughs). But we grew to be comrades sharing the same trenches. Our interaction has never looked back since then... How did you come to know Dr. Nwoye? Is it true that he was a cultist as some of his political rivals have alleged? Nothing can be further from the truth. You see when political opponents have nothing to say, they resort to baseless propaganda and cheap blackmails. Tony all through his stay in school never had any issue with the security department of the school. In our days, you cannot contest any election in school if you are reckoned a cultist. In fact, such charge was the easiest way for the school authorities to get back at troublesome student leaders. It speaks so much about how far removed from cultism Tony was that the school authorities could not even label him with that. I mean that would have been such an easy way of stopping his participation in student union government politics. But they just couldn’t because the young man was so clean of such. It is a fact that he has never been accused of cultism while there. He has never been charged for that anywhere in his time. Any of his contemporaries in school who is honest can attest to this. Is it true that he played some role in curbing activities of cultism in UNN? If yes, what role did he play? It is one of the great ironies of life that what Dr Tony Nwoye risked his life combating is what people who have no fear of God are accusing him of. Tony, both as a student union government leader and National Association of Nigerian Students’ (NANS) president fought tenaciously against the cultism menace. He confronted it so head on that most cultists in UNN and UNEC had to publicly come and denounce their membership of the various cults so as to escape the onslaught he used the instrumentality of his office to bring to bear on them. He engaged the security agencies in this. It is in respect of his extraordinary courage in tackling the menace of cultism that the then Vice chancellor of UNN Prof. Ginigeme Mbanefo gave him an award as a student leader. When he repeated the feat as NANS president, the then Benue State governor George Akume also gave him an award of recognition in that respect. Even the then Inspector General of Police, Tafa Balogun recognised his excellent contribution in this regard. What more can be said? Do you believe he would do well as governor of Anambra State? I have no doubt whatsoever that Anambra in Dr Tony Nwoye’s hands will experience its best run of governance ever. Tony is someone who prepared himself for leadership. He is an excellent manager and knows how to distill from an assemblage of great talents the very best for the good of the society. More than any other person in this race, he possesses the best resume as far leadership is concerned. What expectations do you have of him as governor? I urge him to remain true to his person and his deals as he had been in the myriads of positions he had served in the past. He should remember that it is his past performance that keeps making way for him to soar higher and higher. I expect him to continue making his focus the masses, the poor and the dispossessed. I expect him to maintain focus on the youths, empower and equipment them to unleash their immeasurable potentials which should catapult our economy to enviable heights. I expect Dr Tony Nwoye to carry on in office with the same humility, the same focus and the same servant leader disposition that have seen him excel in his past calls to service Your advice to Nwoye as he continues with the campaign to be elected the governor of Anambra state. I urge Dr Tony Nwoye and his teeming supporters which grow by the day not to relent. They should continue to sustain their grassroots spread and dominance for truly power belongs to the people. It is my conviction that if the current tempo is sustained, Tony will emerge victorious come November 18th and Anambra will enter into its most peaceful, most progressive and most prosperous era in history. That is the Tony Nwoye promise. As Dr Tony and his teeming supporters like to assert as their slogan/battle cry, the future is now! http://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2017/11/09/nwoye-will-make-a-good-governor-says-ekwueme/

APC says Anambra too significant to lose, Obiano jittery By Omeiza Ajayi ABUJA: The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has said that it was not leaving anything to chance in its bid to win the November 18 gubernatorial election in Anambra state. While the party dismissed speculations that it was planning to deploy security and other arsenals to clinch the contest at all costs, it said Anambra was however too important for it to lose. •Nwoye: “We believe strongly that the speculation of APC deploying soldiers to rig Anambra election is just a mere rumour because there is no evidence to that (effect) and if anybody tells you that the party is planning to deploy the Civil Defence, police, soldiers or whatever to do anything in Anambra, tell the person to provide the evidence”, said Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s spokesman. Abdullahi spoke Thursday at a news conference held at the APC national Secretariat in Abuja. He said the APC will not rig the election, saying such allegations were coming from the incumbent governor, Willie Obiano who he said is jittery. “We are planning to win the election fair and square and if you are following the campaigns going on, you will know the impact that our candidate is making. The incumbent will naturally be jittery and when a candidate is jittery the first thing he will do is to turn around and accuse the ruling party of planning to rig or whatever. “We are not going to rig the election. We have won elections since we came to power as a national party and as a ruling party. We have equally lost elections. We lost the election in Osun and if we have soldiers and police and whatever to mobilize why did we not do it. We have lost a couple of House of Representatives elections and a couple of Senate elections. “So, the speculation that we are planning to rig the election does not hold water. Unless they have credible evidence that this is what we are planning to do, but to make this kind of allegation is not what we should dwell on too much”, he stated. All APC Stakeholders are behind Nwoye “Whenever we go into primaries as in the case of Anambra where we had 12 aspirants, there will be one level of acrimony or the other no matter the effort you make. But what we did was to get everybody to rally round the candidate. Yes, there will be residual issues but I can tell you that all of us are working together and have all lined up behind our candidate, Dr Tony Nwoye to ensure that we win the election in Anambra. The issue of people not working together does not arise including the Minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige who is the leader of the party in the state. “All of us are working together and we have the National Campaign Chairman in the person of Bauchi state governor. Up till yesterday, we were still meeting to strategize and of course you know that the President will be part of the grand finale of the campaign. “So, all of us are working to ensure victory because Anambra is very important to the party and we understand the significance of the Anambra election. So, we are pulling everything together and everybody is working together to ensure success in Anambra”, he said. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/11/apc-says-anambra-too-significant-to-lose-obiano-jittery/

Decryptor:What foolishness? Drunken thief Obiano crying he may be rigged out? When the then, pdp candidate, Nwoye and APC's Dr Ngige cried of being rigged out by Jonathan and thief Obi, did the planet fall? So if Dr Nwoye is successfully ring the drunken thief, Obiano out of Anambra, the people of my state will rejoice, that we got rid of the SOB. In any case, the next governor of Anambra is Dr Tony Okechukwu Nwoye. |
Decryptor:Anuofia, the arrogance of apga /pdp erats is nauseating. You think you speak for all Ananbrarians? You certainly do not speak for this poster and these APC Anambrarians below, and millions of their supporters : Billionaire Arthur Eze Billionaire Emeka Ofor Billionaire Sen. Andy Uba Fmr Anambra Gov Dr Chris Ngige Next APC Gov of Anambra Dr Nwoye Etc etc. How many supporters do you have? Why is your drunken thief, Obiano crying in 2017, after he was rigged in by Jonathan and thief Obi in 2013? Why is your drunken thief on his knees begging Buhari to allow him to rig so that he can defect to APC after the election? In any case, law of karma is a stubborn bitch, I hope APC can rigg the SOB, Thief Obiano out of Anambra, back to Lagos, where he is registered to vote. |
MrMystrO:He he he he he he Law of karma is a stubborn bitch. What goes around comes around! In 2013, Jonathan & Thief Obi, used the Army, Police, and other security agents TO RIG Apga to office! Forward to 2017, the same apga is crying that APC wants to pay them back in their own coin. The next governor of Anambra is Dr Tony Okechukwu Nwoye. No one can stop it. |
The people of Anambra will vehemently resist APC rigging plot - APGA warns Buhari The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has spoken on the forthcoming Anambra governorship election - APGA urged President Buhari to use his good office to ward off any electoral malpractice - The party, however, said the election will determine whether Nigeria will remain as one The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) on Tuesday, November 7, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that Anambra election is free and fair. APGA said President Buhari must stop Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai; his Imo counterpart, Rochas Okorocha and ex-Abia governor, Orji Kalu, from attempting to rig the election. According to a report, the party alleged that the APC chieftains have printed sensitive materials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the poll, Vanguard reports. In a statement signed by Evang Chinedu Obigwe, the APGA national coordinator on media, the party said the election will determine whether Nigeria will remain one. The statement read: "I call on President Muhammadu Buhari to use his good office to nip this evil plot in the bud because failure to do so, his much cherished Nigeria unity will be destroyed. "APGA is like a religion in Anambra state, thus the reason why the people of the state are satisfied with Governor Willie Obiano’s good work in the state perhaps again the reason why they are supporting his merited second term re-election bid. PAY "The frequent visits of El-Rufai, Rochas Okorocha and Orji Uzor Kalu, to Anambra state I believe have something to do with this rigging plot to favor Tony Nwoye. "The people of Anambra state will ensure that no stone will be left unturned in checkmating and vehemently resisting APC rigging plot. "This election will determine if Nigeria will remain one because no reasonable human being will like to be in a Country where the people’s democratic rights are trampled upon." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvsOY59QUNU https://www.naija.ng/1134167-the-people-anambra-vehemently-resist-apc-rigging-plot-apga-warns-buhari.html#1134167 |
oneeast:No court anywhere on this planet has convicted Honourable Tony Nwoye of any crime. No amount of baseless accusations, blackmail or propaganda can stop Dr Tony Okechukwu Nwoye from emerging the next governor of Anambra. Deal with it. |
Anambra poll: Arinze urges stakeholders to focus on issues, personalities *Hails Nwoye over achievements in his constituency A former commissioner in Anambra State, Mr Ken Arinze, has tasked political stakeholders in Anambra State to focus on the issues and personalities in the governorship election, saying there are no Yoruba or Hausa persons involved contrary to the campaign by some politicians. Pointing out what he said were the meritorious accomplishments of Dr. Tony Nwoye, the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate as a lawmaker, Arinze said the fact that Nwoye achieved much as a member of the APC was not lost on his constituents in Anambra West/East Federal Constituency. Arinze, formerly of the Peoples Democratic Party, now a chieftain of the APC, particularly lambasted the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and some other rival political parties for mounting a campaign of calumny in trying to distract the electorate from the core issues facing the citizenry. In a statement, yesterday, Arinze, who is also the Director Protocol in the Nwoye Campaign Organisation said: “They are saying that Tony is a good man but in a wrong party. Our problem is not that of a wrong party but that of a wrong person in power. “Tony as a member of the APC has brought many projects to his constituents and the people have not complained that he brought good projects to them on the platform of the APC. “My take is that if he could achieve much as a member of the APC, there is nothing wrong accomplishing for the whole state on the platform of the same party.” “Tony is a medical doctor and when someone is critically sick you do not care the tribe or tongue of the doctor, what you care about is that you want to be well. Anambra is critically sick and Dr. Nwoye is the man that the people are now clamouring for to save our state from the malaise that the Willie Obiano administration has forced on our state. “Ndi Anambra cannot be beclouded by the campaign of calumny being played by political opponents. The degradation of our state in the WAEC and NECO rankings under the Obiano administration, the dilapidation of our roads, the enthronement of government of propaganda among other ills are issues that are manifest, they cannot be covered by the campaign of tribe. Dr. Nwoye is an Anambarian and has his unique Anambarian approach to the problems bequeathed on our state by the Obiano administration.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/11/anambra-poll-arinze-urges-stakeholders-focus-issues-personalities/

Yyeske:The Igala community noted : Dr. Nwoye’s assurance was welcomed by the people who took turns to appreciate his representation in the House of Representatives praising him for his inclusive policies noting that he is the first person to extend political appointments to the people. They also noted that he is the first governorship candidate to visit and solicit for their votes. Again while the king of grassroots mobiliser, Dr Nwoye is busy campaigning in all nooks and crannies of all communities in Anambra, his competitors are busy trying to buy chiefs and market leaders. Elections are won among the real people not on pages of nairaland. |
Yyeske:Sure they have been living there for ages. But they have been marginalised for ages. Just like our Igbo brothers and sisters in Southern Benue that occupy a whooping 4 local governments are so marginalised that most of Benue do not even know that there are indigenous Igbos in Benue. So yes, our next governor Dr Tony Okechukwu Nwoye, will carry all tribes in Anambra along, whether Igala or Igbo!! |

Anambra Guber: Your oppression will soon be over, Nwoye tells Igala in Anambra West All Progressives Congress, APC candidate in Anambra State, Dr. Tony Nwoye has assured the Igala in the state that the time of their total marginalization from the scheme of things in the state would be over should he win the forthcoming governorship election. Dr. Nwoye spoke during his campaign visit to coastal areas of Anambra West Local Government Area of the state that is partly occupied by indigenous Igala. He met with them at Uzam. Another meeting with other Igala speaking natives is scheduled to hold at Umueze Anam. That meeting was yet to take off as at press time. Dr. Nwoye who represents the area in the House of Representatives and won the election despite the stern opposition by the APGA governor, Chief Willie Obiano who is also from Anambra East/West Federal Constituency, was during the occasion also commended by the people for his quality representation. A statement on the visit issued by campaign spokesman, Barrister Nonso Madu quoted representatives of the people as applauding Dr. Nwoye for being the first serious governorship candidate to visit them and for his past representation of their interests in the House of Representatives. Dr. Nowye who arrived the coastal area using boat said he would wipe away their tears saying that he decided not take them for granted in the way the state government has ignored them. “I am part of you, I have been your representative and I know what you are passing through. Your own marginalization under Willie Obiano is special because he does not make any pretence about it. For some other people he could lie that he did this or he did that, but for you, he just acts as if you do not exist. “But I know you exist and as your representative I have done my little in bringing some projects here but I assure you that as governor with executive power, your tears will be totally wiped away,” Nwoye was quoted as promising in the statement issued by his campaign. Dr. Nwoye’s assurance was welcomed by the people who took turns to appreciate his representation in the House of Representatives praising him for his inclusive policies noting that he is the first person to extend political appointments to the people. They also noted that he is the first governorship candidate to visit and solicit for their votes. https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2017/11/anambra-guber-oppression-will-soon-nwoye-tells-igala-anambra-west/amp/

Nobody will foolishly give you all the money upfront and then pray that you will vote for them. That isn't just how it works. So relax the next governor of Anambra remains Dr Tony Okechukwu Nwoye |
yarimo:Agreed. No candidate can outmobilize the grass roots more than our next governor Dr Tony Nwoye. |

With Nwoye APC will win Anambra election Bauchi State governor and the Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign for Anambra Governorship Election, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar has expressed optimism that the All Progressives Congress (APC ) candidate Mr Tony Nwoye will defeat not only the incumbent governor, but all other contestants. He described the candidature of Tony Nwoye in the forthcoming election as a paradigm shift in the politics of Anambra State. Governor Abubakar who stated this in Gboloko, Bassa Local Government Area, in an interview with Journalists shortly after the one year remembrance prayer organised for the late Lt.Col. Muhammad Abu Ali who laid down his life for the unity of Nigeria in the battle against Book Haram terrorists in Borno State last year, said the choice of Nwoye represents a paradigm shift in the politics of Anambra State. The governor averred that the choice of Nwoye was the first time the party unanimously resolved and picked a vibrant youth to lead in the state. He described the APC candidate as a young politician who has been struggling and has won election three times to the House of Representative. According to the governor “Tony Nwoye was one time chairman of the People Democratic Party and one time governorship candidate of PDP. He is not a new face in Anambra politics and I am optimistic that all this qualities will work in his favour.” According to Abubakar, Nwoye has been a national figure even as a student which should be an asset to the state. He said the candidate has worked across all strata of governance and administration, one of the criteria needed for a successful governor .”Experience is a great asset in governance,” the governor said. https://www.google.com.ng/amp/s/dailytimes.ng/politics/with-nwoye-apc-will-win-anambra-election/amp/

All hail the next governor of Anambra Dr Tony Okechukwu Nwoye. Nothing can stop it |
bestview:Mr Igbokwe. is telling us, look, time to stop playing local league. Apga is a one state party. Period. Besides Obiano has done badly and cannot account for upwards of 175 Billion naira of our Commonwealth. Do you know what that 175 Billion naira could have done for Anambra? State roads, hospitals, Free Education, Onitsha Airport, etc etc. Now Joe is saying we should look long term. Sure we need the presidency. Unlike GEJ, who could not even provide clean drinking water, in Otueke an Igbo Presidency can handle Eastern Infrastructure that has been neglected since the end of the civil war. It will further strengthen our domination of Banking, Real Estate, Business, etc. We must vote in APC in Anambra and least provide 50-60% of 2019 votes to Buhari, that will guarantee our Presidency claim in 2023! That is what Joe Igbokwe is saying. And I agree. |
CROWNWEALTH019:Atiku defeating Buhari? Buhari starts with 12 million votes from North. Where on earth can Atiku get the votes from?. 2019 will not see pdp write results in the SE and SS as they did in 2015. In addition, Tinubu will mobilise additional 3-5 million from the West. And the east this time will split actual votes not fake 2015 results. |
Anambra 2017 Guber Election: Igbo Must Play The Politics Now or keep Quiet Forever Any Igbo who is anybody in Nigeria or anywhere in the world must persuade Igbo in Nigeria to play the real politics now that will make them to have the respect and support of other Nigerians or they should keep quiet forever. I am appealing to all the South East Governors, senators, House of Reps members, Ministers, Speakers of the South East House of Assemblies, South East elder statesmen and women, Council of Chiefs in the South East, the Academia, Our distinguished Chieftains of Industries, Investors and our great men and women in diaspora to persuade and help Anambrans to take a decision on Saturday, November 18th , 2017 to play the real politics of electing an APC governor and consequently move ahead to vote whoever emerges from the North as APC presidential candidate. This is to position ourselves for 2023 President of Igbo extraction. Igbo have complained of marginalization since the end of the civil war in 1970 and yet we have not played the real politics with other Nigerians to make ourselves relevant. Throughout history, I have known that politics is a serious business. Professor Laski of the London School of Economics teaches that politics is superior to Economics. Bishop Desmond of South Africa says politics is too important to be left to politicians alone. Another school of thought says that there is no alternative to politics if you want to change the world. The Jews Igbo claim to have an affinity with were in control of the businesses in almost all the great cities in the world before 1945. They ignored politics. It took the tragic political intervention of Adolf Hitler which led to the death of six million Jews to let Jews know the importance of political power over economic power. In the midst of the June 12, 1993, crisis, the late Alhaji Maitama Sule felt that the North is good in Politics and therefore should always produce the political leadership of Nigeria. He said that Yoruba are good in economy and industry while the Igbo are good in business and commerce. Through raw courage, brevity, boldness, the dint of hard work, cultural competence, the late Chief M.K.O Abiola broke the jinx on June 12, 1993. Even though he did not live to realize his dream he liberated the people of Southern Nigeria from slavery, and disgrace. If there was no June 12, 1993, there would not have been May 29, 1999, when General Obasanjo took the center stage. I am a living witness to the huge sacrifices Yoruba made to get us where we are today. Many of their leaders were killed, some imprisoned here in Nigeria and others chased abroad. The rest is now history but Obasanjo and Jonathan reaped from Chief Abiola’s supreme sacrifice. If you do not play politics you perish! Anambra state is strategic in Igboland for various reasons. That very important state is the pride of Igbo just like Lagos is the pride of South West and Kaduna or Kano, the pride of the North. Anambra is the economic nerve center of the South East, the richest in terms of anything, the pacesetter. Anambra drives the events. Some people say if Anambra is good Igbo land will be good. Now, what is to be done? All the South East leaders I have mentioned above must persuade the voters in Anambra to vote in APC for strategic reasons. We have to work with other Nigerians if we have to be politically relevant again. Yes, APGA may have done very well in Anambra but we have to look at the big picture right now. 2023 is the shortest distance to Igbo presidency in Nigeria if we take this hard decision today. The late Ikemba Nnewi, the founder, and brain behind the party spoke many times about mainstream politics and we must play it now no matter whose ox is gored. The world will not blame us for taking decisions and then fail but the world will not forgive us for not taking decisions at all. I have said my own side of the story and let history be my witness. Joe Igbokwe LAGOS http://saharareporters.com/2017/11/04/anambra-2017-guber-election-igbo-must-play-politics-now-or-keep-quiet-forever
