Car Talk / Re: Why The Obsession With 20W50 Engine Oil? by Otigba1: 5:51pm On Aug 27, 2016
I have enjoyed the discussion so far. The missing point is the meaning of 5W30 or 20w50. These numbers are SAE classifications. The nuber before the w is actually refers to the lowest ambient temperature that will be experienced in the year. So goes for the number after w. Car manufacturers do nt consider Nigeria in their statistics because we are not their primary market. We do not evpetiece cold temperatures in Nigeria do the 5W or 10W doesn't really apply. The key thing to check is the S classifixation. The current class is class SN. Another major factor is the kinematic viscosity of the oil. Lots of motorists purchase oil with obsolete class like SG, SF etc. This is not good class of oil for modern engines. If you use a 20w50 engine oil in New York during the winter, the oil will freeze up in the morning but 5W30 won't because of the 5W. Do also note that there are things to note in the 5W engine oils. Some are synthetic and some are semi-synthetic. Synthetic oils are lab engineered and have light ends that tend to evaporate during use. Other engine oils are made from Crude oil. We can talk about this for a long time.

Politics / Re: Senate, Reps Disagree On 2016 budget by Otigba1: 9:19pm On Apr 13, 2016
We all need continous improvement for life to be meaningful. Can we look back and see how previous presidents performed in the timing of presenting and signing budgets into law. 2012 was signed in August.2012. 2013 was signed May 24. 2013 while 2014 was presented to the senate 8th March 2013. You can then guess when it was approved.
Education / Re: Imo State University Embarks On Strike After Convocation Ceremony by Otigba1: 9:10am On Mar 19, 2016
There is absolutely nothing wrong with differential fees. This is a federation and out of state students are expected to pay higher fees. Nigerians studying all over the world pay same fees as out of state students in their country of study.

Politics / Re: Amaechi Cancels Visit To Wike's Ward by Otigba1: 5:56pm On Mar 18, 2016
I think we should always consider all sides before comments. I believe Gov Wike went too far in declaring two days public holiday. Half day on Friday would have sufficed. Do you the economic implications of two days holiday on the economy. The ports will be closed. Many transaction that fall due may miss deadlines. Wike is not an emperor. Let's tell the truth always. Last time he declared the day of supreme Court judgement as a permanent public holiday in Rivers State without the approval of the house of assembly
Politics / Re: Each Time I Travel On Benin-ore Express Road, I Can't But Say God Bless GEJ by Otigba1: 6:39pm On Feb 27, 2016
I love this country called Nigeria. When a governor or president does what he or she is expected to do we praise him or her. Regarding the Benin -Ore road. Going back memory lane. I returned from the USA in 1979. That was when Lagos-Benin 300km road was built. It didn't take 16years to construct a virgin road. 16 years after the PDP govt was able to resurface 100km Benin Ore. The balance of over 200km Ore -Lagos is still pending. Here we are praising GEJ for resurfacing 100km. Recently I drove from Port Elizabeth in South Africa to Cape Town a distance of 750 km. Never saw a pot hole. Here we are beating our chest because one of our own resurfaced 100km of road built 16years ago
Business / Re: Five Oil Exporters Affected By Currency Devaluation Most by Otigba1: 10:14am On Feb 19, 2016
Excellent and straight forward analysis. There is no magic wand to get out of this mess except oil prices improve and demand for nigerian crude also increases. There is a difference between production and market sales. We produce but not finding buyers even at the low price. We all need to look inwards and produce more locally. There is no reason whatsoever for Nigeria to import biscuits when there are very good biscuits made in Ota in Ogun state. We need to curb our appetite for foreign things that don't add value to our existence. Together we can grow our economy by change of attitude. The youths have a great role in this they should think out of the box and develope more productive ideas. Thank you all.

Politics / Re: Confusion In Kogi APC As Faleke Insists He’s Governor-Elect by Otigba1: 9:55am On Dec 01, 2015
Faleke is being clever by half. He should realise that deputy governors are spare tires. The reality is that the Taraba case is still fresh. He never participated in the APC primares. If APC adopts him, they will lose it in the tribunal. Wada of PDP doesn't have a case because he didn't get 25% in 2/3 of the LGA. Faleke should hope that Bello who came second in the prinaries and had been rightly adopted by APC retains him as the Deputy Governor. This case is simply a case of doctrine of necessity. Legal opinion is more than 90% in favour of APC position. PDP would have done the same. Besides they have been in power for 16 years. Why didn't they forsee this scenario while crafting the electoral act. I so submit.

Politics / Re: Buhari's Social Program: Very Possible. by Otigba1: 10:50pm On Apr 19, 2015
The calculation of revenue from oil is not as simplistic as that. Recall that the iInternational oil companies hold an average of 40% on the acreages as such you need to discount that from the calculation. In doing so however government revenue will be only Petroleum Profit Tax and Royalty. You first have to remove the cost of production which in some terrain is as high as $20/barrel. The balance 60% is for govt equity in the Joint Venture operations and you repeat the Math. Here you will see some profit oil beyond POT and Royalty. Lets be careful when we crank ip numbers. The marginal field operators will only remit PPT and Royalty to govt.
