Culture / Honour/shame Killings: Crass Ostracism Or Outright Murder? by Otimkpu440: 2:11pm On Aug 20, 2016
What could have been this young woman's crime to be ostracised in such a manner? What right does any human (be you mother, father, brother, or member of the community) have to deny another human the right to live?

Culture / Re: Koko That Ate 40 British Men As Nembe King [PICS] by Otimkpu440: 5:54pm On Aug 17, 2016
TunezMediaTV:
An Ijaw man, Koko was a convert to Christianity who later returned to the local traditional religion. Before becoming king, he had served as a Christian school teacher, and in 1889 this helped him in his rise to power.

The leading chiefs of Nembe, including Spiff, Samuel Sambo, and Cameroon, were all Christians, and after having ordered the destruction of Juju houses a large part of their reason for choosing Koko as king in succession to King Ockiya was that he was a fellow Christian.

With the settlement of European traders on the coast, Nembe had engaged in trade with them, but it was poorer than its neighbours Bonny and Calabar.

By the 1890s, there was intense resentment of Royal Niger Company's treatment of the people of the Niger delta and of its aggressive actions to exclude its competitors and to monopolize trade, denying the men of Nembe the access to markets which they had long enjoyed.

As king, Koko aimed to resist these pressures and tried to strengthen his hand by forming alliances with the states of Bonny and Okpoma.

In January 1895, he threw caution to the winds and led more than a thousand men in a dawn raid on the Royal Niger Company's headquarters at Akassa. Arriving on 29 January with between forty and fifty canoes, equipped with heavy guns, Koko captured the base with the loss of some forty lives, including twenty-four Company employees, destroyed warehouses and machinery, and took about sixty white men hostage, as well as carrying away a large quantity of booty, including money, trade goods, ammunition and a quick-firing gun.

Koko then sought to negotiate with the Company for the release of the hostages, his price being a return to free trading conditions, and on 2 February he wrote to Sir Claude MacDonald, the British consul-general, that he had no quarrel with the Queen but only with the Niger Company.

Despite this, the British refused Koko's demands, and more than forty of the men were then ceremoniously eaten.

For clarity sake (especially to our Muslim friends)

Before you say 'See how these Christians behaves",

You need to know that this woman is not a Christian. Anyone can claim to be a Christian and wed in a church, but not have a relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord.

A good proof that she isn't yet a child of God is the tattoo on her arm.

God is love.
Jesus is Lord forever.
(1) I truly doubt if these are Nigerians
(2) It could be a dress fitting or dress rehearsal
(3) I doubt if they are in church already
(4) But if she is already in church, is there no one sensible enough to tell her that this is neither the time nor place for this kind of dressing as her right nipple is almost exposed.

Politics / Re: Parents Demand Swap Of Chibok Girls For Boko Haram Detainees by Otimkpu440: 2:49pm On Aug 15, 2016
thesicilian:
I feel for the parents, but they should respect themselves. They want the detainees to be released so they can bomb, maim and kidnap other people's children, wives and husband, not to talk of terrorising the whole nation? That's selfish.
True, the anguish of the parents is unimaginable. You got that one right, so their demand for the exchange of the girls with the imprisoned BH members is in order. Put yourself in their shoes. The FG cannot say our defense policy is sophisticated enough to say government cannot negotiate with terrorists. Rather this is an opportunity to wipe out the sect once and for all
Here's how to go about it. Cunningly sedate key members of the sect that are imprisoned so that they are knocked out for days. Make incisions and plant micro-tracking devices in their bodies. Release them when the wounds have healed and track their movements via GPS. If this had happened in Western countries, those girls would have been rescued long ago.

henrydadon:
let face it..our military are very incompetent ..they are just looking for scapegoat to take the pressure off them
Precisely. Why not do as the insurgents are demanding and exchange the girls for the imprisoned BH members. I do not think Nigeria is sufficiently advanced for government to say that they do not negotiate with terrorists, because if this had happened in the US, Britain, France or Israel, those girls would have been rescued long ago. The anguish of the parents of those girls is truly unimaginable.
