tunde1200:A Governor is Chief security officer of his state but cannot even order the commissioner of police not to talk of a soldier. He is not on the chain of command. The only civilian on that chain is the President who is the commander in Chief . It is only that police can easily be influenced because unlike the military that has doctrine, police does not. |
SpaceX:Which one is part-time man of God? Whose man are you on the other half of time? |
This article would have made sense if Wike was being attacked. In this case he was the attacker. Man would have slapped and embarrassed any detail trying to calm him down or remove him from the scene because of pride. Those details have been with him and know how he can be. |
Indigeneship certificate is same as Certificate of origin, so it is not a new thing. Every Nigerian has one. The only novel thing is that Lagos wants to digitize theirs and I don't see how that is different from the ones that are in paper form. |
Sir, I request to enlighten you. There is no such thing as a former General; once a General, always a General. You may have former Presidents, former Governors, even former Chief of Naval Staff, but, a General is for life. Check their retirement benefits. How many soldiers are given to the retired Generals to serve them at tax-payer's expense? |
zeuss:The soldier in uniform represents the sovereignty of the state and by extension symbolises the powers of the CinC. Only the CinC can order that soldier to stand down because he is the ultimate power in the chain. The minister, powerful as he may appear, is not in that chain and cannot override any soldier's orders. All this talk of private assignment/property, yet the military hierarchy is in agreement that he was on lawful duty. When an army chief retires and is given a small detachment, what do you think it is for? Apart from his personal security, he can assign them to any other duties from time to time. |
The soldier is an officer and a fine gentleman. He made the institution proud. Imagine bringing cameras to record him intimidating soldiers only to be humiliated. Soldier that signed up to face death cannot be intimidated by mere shouting. Publicly abusing a soldier on uniform is disrespect to the country. |
The training they are giving these officers is topnotch. You could see his leadership ability shining through. Calmness in the midst of provocation, assertiveness without being insulting, even his body language showed he was in control of the situation. He is truly an officer and a gentleman. |
stuffs2002:Na that "mkporu mirri" no let you get critical reasoning ability. The soldier was not under orders from the retired personnel but his own bosses who have power to assign him to any other duties from time to time. If you get sense, you for know say that development will not be completed on that same day. So the minister can take out time to engage the superiors and still meet the project in development stage when he returns. See example wey you give. Something that is urgent and important versus something that is important but not urgent. |
stuffs2002:Ok let me engage at your level of reasoning, since you cannot differentiate between personal and official duties. That thing I would have done to the soldier, i expected Wike to do same but he didn't. Why? He would have found out his true status. |
stuffs2002:Is that what happened in this scenario? A sensible minister would have called the CNS or even the CinC. The military operates by doctrine and the minister is not on the chain of command. |
Given the way Wike has been revoking people's property rights and giving them to his cronies, I can't fault the soldier. Other people who had papers still had them revoked. So no need to take chances. The soldier made it clear that he was under orders. He does not and cannot take orders from a civilian veacause he is minister except the civilian is commander-in-chief. The Minister should have contacted the soldier's superiors instead of engaging him and embarrassing himself. |
Is Trump threatening to invade Nigeria or to deal with terrorists in the country? I wonder whether we have comprehension problems or we just derive joy in misrepresentation. |
So that their companies can continue illegal mining; the illegal mining that is helping to fund terrorism in those communities |
It is either the unamed Colonel engaged in oil bunkering while serving in the Niger Delta or he is helping the unnamed governor-partner to launder proceeds of corruption. Both are punishable. Now he has added treason to his crimes. |

Tinted permit na military hangover. Martial law has no place in a democracy. Getting a license does not make it difficult for criminal elements as they also know how to be licensed. People should be asked to wind down just as they are asked to open boot. Tinted glasses hide things same way as boots. Or will they soon ask for boot permit? |
That's a real CHANGE. We know who to thank for it. |

Even if 1 billion is shared to everybody, some people will increase their own share while others will have lost everything. |
If this is true, the branch should pull out and form their own independent union. There is freedom of association and no monopoly in unionism. |
Divineability:No. MPR is currently 27% effective 23rd September 2025. So your saving account interest rate will be 30% of 27(not 27 percent). That is your savings interest rate is 8.1%. |
