PoliticsRe: Nigeria Nabs 26 Oil Thieves, Majority Ghanaians by otumfour(m): 12:31pm On May 09, 2012
Abagworo: Nigeria’s military has arrested 21 Ghanaians and five Nigerians for alleged oil theft as they operated two vessels in the country’s main crude-producing region, authorities said on Tuesday.
The two vessels had a capacity of 650,000 metric tonnes of oil. A military spokesman said only one of the vessels was transporting oil at the time, but he could not give a figure for how much.
A joint military task force in the region “arrested 21 international oil thieves and five Nigerians on board vessels MT Ani and MT Oso with 650,000 metric tonnes capacity of crude oil,” said Lieutenant Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu.
“The 21 non-Nigerians were Ghanaians.”
The arrests occurred on Monday in Nigeria’s Rivers State and were said to have occurred after a tip-off. The vessels were destroyed afterward.
Oil theft has been a growing problem in Nigeria, and Shell chief executive Peter Voser said last month that there have been estimates that 150,000 barrels of oil and condensate is stolen in the country each day.
Nigeria, Africa’s largest oil producer, has been producing between 2.0 and 2.4 million barrels per day in recent months.

PhonesSamsung! The Biggest Phone Maker By Shipments For Q1 2012 by otumfour(op): 2:26pm On May 01, 2012
Research firm IDC is reporting that Nokia has been dethroned as the world's biggest phone maker by Samsung. In the first quarter of the year, Samsung shipped 98.3 million mobile phones, with Nokia and Apple in second and third place. In the smartphone-only charts, the Korean company shipped 42.2 million of its Android and Windows Phone handsets, while Cupertino shipped 35.1 million and Nokia shipped a paltry-by-comparison 11.9 million.

Samsung, Apple and companies outside the top 5 all made big gains in the smartphone space, while Nokia, RIM and HTC all felt their numbers drop. Unsurprisingly, companies with big stakes in dumb phones suffered, with Nokia and LG losing big chunks of their market share to the big two and stalking horse ZTE, which has bested LG for fourth place. After the break, we've got the official tallies that you can pore over.

Myself2: Newcastle will not be a push over, like I said,I see a draw in that game and maybe the other game against Liverpool. That gives you 2 points. Then add it to the 6 points you'd most likely get from QPR and Blackburn. That gives you 8 points,so even if Arsenal were to draw with West Brom and Norwich(highly unlikely),Chelsea would still finish behind Arsenal.

Live with it,Chelsea will finish outside the top four this season
grin grin grin we'll see @ the end of the season won't we naa grin grin grin

I'll be back like the terminatorrrr

Myself2: [s]Wishful thinking.Arsenal is 8 pointys ahead of Chelsea with a very healthy superior GD.[/s]Chelsea has to contend with Tottdenham and newcastle for the 4TH spot, with Newcastles loss to Wigan today, their game against chelsea will be difficult for both teams,I see a draw there. Then Chelsea has to play QPR,Liverpool then Blackburn
Arsenal on the other hand just has Norwich city and WestBrom to despatch.Trust me,neither Chelsea nor Newcastle matters to Arsenal,as the two clubs will huff and puff and may not even make the top four. The only motivation Arsenal needs to stay focused and get maximum points from our two games left is the thought of those smelling TotenYam hurt spuds creeping up closer to us on the log than they already are.Buncha irritating pricks
sad yeh ryt, its actually 7 points difference plus don't forget Arsenal has played 2 games more than Chelsea, now chelsea wins these 2 games and tha game is on. Chelsea FTW!
EducationPilot Program Finds Kindles Are Popular With GH. Students, But They Break Often by otumfour(op): 6:39pm On Apr 28, 2012
Worldreader's goal is to bring ebooks to people in the developing world, and from October 2010 to July 2011 it ran a trial in Ghana to see how well students would adapt to the technology. The pilot project, known as iREAD (Impact on Reading of E-Readers And Digital content), provided Kindles and ebooks to 481 students in nine different Ghanaian cities, and found that for the most part they took to the new devices quite well. The majority of the students were able to learn how to use the Kindles very quickly, in spite of the fact that 43 percent had never used a computer before. And because Worldreader created digital versions of 82 different Ghanaian books, they also had increased exposure to local authors.

There were also fewer lost and stolen e-readers than had been anticipated, but not all of the findings were positive. While the students had a relatively easy time learning how to use the technology, they did run into some problems, including accidentally deleting books and getting distracted by non-reading functions like music. And a surprisingly large amount of the devices ended up breaking — according to Worldreader 243 of the 600 Kindles used were reported damaged. The group says it's working with Amazon and other manufacturers to design rugged e-readers with more accessible software, and is also hoping to expand the project into new areas and start introducing the technology into local teacher's colleges. Meanwhile, a mobile app for feature phones has also been developed to bring e-reading to an even wider audience.

PhonesRe: Android Vs. Iphone: What You Need To Know by otumfour(m): 7:48pm On Apr 22, 2012
to those of u talking abt the iphone's limitations; jailbreak an iPhone and it will do things tht ur Android devices can only dream of, lol! who uses bluetooth for file transfers these days huh And why are some peeps bragging abt their android phones having radio when there are countless Apps on the App store for internet radio and with internet radio u wouldn't even need the aid of ur head phones as ur antenna, plus with internet radio u get to listen to foreign radio stations.

Display & User Interface! gotta luv the iphone's interface mahn, with the retina display on the iphone since the birth of the iPhone 4, i have neva seen a phone wit a display tht beats tht retina display till date and tht is real talk mahn, icons are crispy to the core, almost feels like u could pick them with ur fingers grin , (though the Samsung Galaxy S II with its Super Amoled might be on par).

Apple just has tht special taste! grin grin grin get close to an Apple product, from a Mac to an iPhone and u'll understand why there's so much hype abt Apple products.

though I'v been using an iPhone for like ever, I just bought my first iMac and my MacBook Pro this year and damn sure ain't going back to Windows ever again, never again, the ease of use with the touch pad alone is a boner grin grin, buttom line is, y'all Android fans don't know wht y'all are missing. PERIOD!!!!!!!!
PhonesRe: Android Vs. Iphone: What You Need To Know by otumfour(m): 7:47am On Apr 22, 2012
Apple products are just what they are; elegance @ first sight, till date I look @ my iPhone 4, MacBook Pro and iMac and still have the same chills I got from the first day/time I powered them on and thts what Apple gives u really ; they are just DIFFERENT, guess its fair to say once u go Apple u can neva go back'dude. Gotta give it to Apple, they breath quality and elegance, though they can be stingy wit their specs and other obviouse areas, they make up for it by giving u tht fluid OS from IOS to MAC OS X grin.

And this is coming from an Android dude who's battled wit texazzpete (texazzpete is the apple rep on nairaland, mind u grin) wit me always defending android. . .
