Basic: If we all share your kind of mindset, we'll all check soft drinks for dirts after buying them before drinking them, we'll all request to see how neat Mr Biggs kitchens are before buying from them, we'll all check that each page of a brand new dictionary is intact before leaving the bookshop, in fact, when we receive a delivery report after sending a text message, we'll still call the recipients to confirm, when our car fuel meters indicate low fuel, we'll still dip a long tiny stick in the tank to confirm...
Stop thinking like the early man!
@Basic

I have few friends like dat. One of dem, u can give him anyting to eat or drink witout checking it in details like checking d expiry date on gala bought in go-slow!

Crazy peeps still exist.
Infact there is one crazy auditor in my office that refuse to marry a woman cos he demanded for receipt for the bride price he just handed over to his in-law. D man was like no receipt, he said they sud return his money and cancel the wedding!!!
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Dangote Truck Drivers With HND/BSc: No Respect For Nigerian Graduates by OtunbaGm: 8:47pm On Aug 02, 2012
As a graduate,I was once driving a truck at a former job more or less like a. Driver/salesman.

Today I have a driver driving me,so why not start small and the gist is that truck drivers make loads of money even more than people working in banks.

Example, a truck driver might load company goods to jos from lagos,on his return trip, he might load for himself and offload at ibadan and make 80k on a trip. Most truck drivers are well to do!

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Crazy Things Done During Job Hunting by OtunbaGm: 7:36am On Jul 07, 2012
Let me shared a secret with you guys; when I got to interview center and the secretary who was a man check his list my name was not there. It was my brothers name that was on the list. He works wit Glo,he has Msc,and more matured. I did his CV in a new format so his tel contact was my number and his own on his CV.

I told the guy it is a mistake,he ask me for the sms they sent to invite me for d interview I show him on my fone. Then he collected my CV and ask me to sit and wait for my turn.

When it is finally my turn, d guy ask one or two question and I was about to start shivering then his GF called. As he was talking to her on the phone, my confidence begin to gather weight then I started smiling and you know what, after he drop the call he said to me "it is one of those things" and I said yes of course and we laughed seriously together.

That was it! He asked me several questions and I answered. The following month they invited us to come for futher interview. I went out on a date wit my wife who was my fiancee back then to one hotel new my house where I supplied matresses to all the rooms and the guy paid me that day. I drank heavily cos I made little money.

By the time I woke up next morning,I am still half drunk! Anyhow I managed to get to the counsultant office and I met three other fellow jobseekers then the man annouce we are successful. He will give us letter to meet the management of the coy dat same day that they are waiting for us Jesus!

I started feeling like visiting d toilet,I managed but when we left for d coy,I told the other guys I need to buy some drugs so they have to wait for me cos we have to go together. On getting to d coy I started feeling someaw cos I used overdose to stop my dysentary I guess is on d way,so I rushed to their canteen to buy toasted bread and eva water to dilute the activities in my tummy. After drinking the water I started getting high again!

My next move was to start asking the receptionist her name,I like her jacket, she is beautiful just a pity dat am hooked, what do the coy pay their sales executive? She responded well. Then all of a sudden, they asked up to come upstairs. I was second on d list but they call me last. But guess wat I asked each of dem wat do they ask them to fine tune my package.

Finally it was my turn, you need to see my confidence level. The first guy was a marketer from wema bank,d only lady was cocacola staff, one old guy from one computer coy and I was d youngest. I almost cross my legs cos my morale was too high but It was God. The MD himself called me the following week, out of 12 I was chosen.

The day I took my car to my friends at Ligali Ayorinde where I do go market during my Insurance days who will buy me drinks and give me transport fare back home and said Mr O.. dat is my car, he said which one? I said dat car! He could not believe it until I open it and ask him to enter then he reminded me dat is it not me dat use to come and market dem, I said that was 2009 dis is 2012! He now said finally dat 'I know dat ur eyes is too strong' (oju e le tele). Thinking maybe I am into some dirty stuffs. I just laugh.

When it is ur time, notin can stop u. My advise is know who you are and be ready to start small. Today am happily married n am blessed wit a wonderful son who has started sch already all within 3years. Just believe you will get there.

I tried UK visa twice and it failed but I have helped people travel but today I don't think am regretin anytin cos am better off.

Try to learn a skill while job hunting! Every body has loads of problems dat is what one honourable member of assembly told me yesterday at a building site. Nobody can help you and know that when you are made,u dictate what u eat, wear, drive etc Nobody can do dat for u.

The way my brother use to tell me to come to Lagos, I tot I will land a Glo job instantly. When I visited him wen serving,he took me to places very tempting cos I told him I don't think I can stay in Lag. At one occassion I met Dbanj and he took me to virtually all clubs and joints on the mainland just to entice me by when I resign my job in Jos and came back to Lag I realise wat is called Lagos Life.

Today my broda is late, but his legacy lives on! One of his friends working wit airtel then I ask him for job,he said everybody is a jobseeker. Everybody needs chevron or mobil job! Me sef I wan work for Aso Rock!
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Crazy Things Done During Job Hunting by OtunbaGm: 6:01am On Jul 07, 2012
Hmmm God has been so good to me. I did my SIWES or IT wit 7up in their marketing dept though I read Geography. I was recommended to the management by the marketing manager,I did an interview wit d MD,MM,QAM at d end I was allow to work on the strong warning from d MM dat I sud be ready to trek in d sun. What's my salary: two crates of liquid contents for two weeks. At a point I intend to quit but my mum insisted dat I sud hang on and she was supporting me cos she is one of their big distributors and since I join they av been givin her all her dues cos am not part of d system.

It pays good reward if you are hardworking. Couple of weeks later I became d golden boy of d coy, though I spent my first four week following salesman in that hot 911 trucks for route riding. U guys must has bEen seeing dem breaking down on roads before and guess wat police no dey catch dem.

I quit d job in my final year cos we travel a lot and don't want to have extra year. they did not want me to go but I left. After my NYSC they still call me but thank God the new MM manager told me to go to Lagos and hustle dat is the London of Nigeria! But I was already working in an insurance biz where I have been trekking for months but very hopeful and trying to know Lagos. I barely use two months where I served when the MD of d coy has been begging He will be happy if I work for him. He was paying me 5k but I was doing his job like me own,he is based abroad so his library is very rich so I read a lot enginering books and within couple of months I became system engineer trainee and as at when I am tru wit my NYSC gave me an offer as system engineer and at that point our Systems Manager left his job so he needs me. I told the guy my pay is 40k,he has no option dan to agree cos I am the only one that have the password to all our networks and workstation which the System manager dat left went away without proper documentation and we are midway on a project. I left three weeks into the job after I completed those projects even without collecting my salary I told the guy that dats my humble service to humanity.
I later work wit a vitafoam distributor and he was paying just 20k,I voluntered to be driving d van so automatically became Van salesman despite dat d guy no increase my salary but I can drive to Oniru Beach 3am,notin do me! Or help someone to take his bed to VGC and pocket d cash. After 9months I got my present Job as a sales executive wit a professional driver,13months later am a depot manager when there people that has been in d coy for 8years still watching. But to be honest, I am really trying my best at what I doing cos I always have the end in mind and that's d driving force and Gods favour but heaven help those who help themselves. I don't know anybody but God knows me.

SportsRe: Chelsea Thanksgiving In Nigerian Churches by OtunbaGm: 6:05am On May 22, 2012
I want to ask some questions, if you are Mikel Obi's father won't you go to church for thanksgiving for the success of your son in church?

If you are a politician, if you win at the polls either by rigging or otherwise, won't you go for thanksgiving in church or mosque(we have seen people doing it b4)

I was told the Governor of Ondo State pay most of viewing centers in Akure to show the final free for all,if this is true won't he be very happy to dance to the altar for his club victory.

Chelsea winning the UCL is a pride for the whole of Africa cos our boys (drogba, mikel n kalou) represent d continent well. I know many governors and each of them have a particular team they support. So what is wrong dancing to thank God for the success of your team in your local church and you don't need to be a xtian for you to know that it was really God that helped Chelsea to lift the trophy

The light was restored immidiately after the Chelsea victory! The guy at the switch must be a Chelsea fan.

I spent close to 5per cent of my monthly salary for fueling my Generator for d one week black out.

I imagine a time when power supply will be constant like in Ghana or I look forward to a time when the yeye PHCN people will make announcement on radio that the will off the supply due to maintainance just like we do receive sms alert from banks.

This your pisma pisma (ask Hon Patrick Obahiagbon for the meaning of the word) argument is lubricious to the subject matter. A lot of people suggested we visited TB Joshua. I will discuss this with my people. How do we see the man of God? cos i do watch his Emmanuel TV and I do see him perform wonders.

FamilyRe: My Brother Is An Acoholic, I Need Help! by OtunbaGm(op): 12:15pm On Apr 24, 2012
@ALL
I really appreciate all your comments and all your advise. But I need to answer some questions:

Where does he gets money to drink? My brother is a person that when he talks you will LISTEN that is when he is in his normal state.

To get money, his usual approach is that he wants to shave, barb, recharge cards etc basic needs

He has loads of friends that can not say no to him if he needs money

Lots of my friends do give him money cos they do remember back in the days when men were boys, he was there for us all

He is not the type that will drink and be failing down though it happen once in a while BUT HE WILL BE TALKING FROM MORNING TILL NIGHT WHEN DRUNK,IT CAN BE SENSIBLE AND MOST TIMES SENSELESS! About his friends now commissioner, SA to Governor,PA dis to dat etc or his ex family most times raining curses on them or abuses. At times it might be our mother, at times his colleagues or at times our spouses. Or even his wife; she made me to be in dis state. If you know him back in his days you will feel sorry for him cos he was like a role model then.

At a point, we believed it was a spiritual attack then we started running up and down. If you want to give him any thing (fetish) he will know cos he will tell you.

We took him to so many pastors all to no avail then last December I said he should be taken to psychiatrist hospital where he was and all the test shows he is OK before we brought him back to Lagos.

Last week, when i came to Lagos. My friend suggest we take him out, we took him out to two of the finest clubs on the mainland and he is still representing! LOL......He rocked the club cos old memories keep flowing through his brains. My brother drank, dance and was merry and all through the weekend he was himself. But when I dropped him on my way back at my sisters house, I know the sad feelings came back to him cos i parked i was looking at him going and he never looked back.

Why I can't bring him to my base is that I socialize too but with moderation. No successful man will be playing with death. I can not beat him cos he is older than me. We have fought before cos there was a day we went out to drink, after more than six bottles he insisted he will drive us home. On the way he bashed another guys car and he was like where is my phone, i want to call commissioner of police of our state in Lagos, can you imagine!!! Before i will say Jack Robinson, my bros don slap me two times and i said if you try it again....he did it and the rest his story...I felt bad..... He was at my place the other time...he will always be quarreling with my wife, you dont know how to cook..dis n dat and my wife is not yoruba...and we yorubas value respect....other tribes...hmmmmmm. make i shut up sha....

He used to talk about one of his girlfriend and that lady too no dey allow am rest. Maybe I should go by the way of Maclatunji make i package am send to her.....MoreMi08....pls dont spit fire......

God will help us. maybe we should go and claim his son BUT....our in laws will they agree cos we know court will favour them.....
FamilyRe: My Brother Is An Acoholic, I Need Help! by OtunbaGm(op): 8:28am On Apr 23, 2012
maclatunji: Well, there are a few points to point out:

1. You would have noticed that I was not particularly keen on giving that advice for reasons you have discussed.

2. I said he needs a STRONG woman. There have been cases where a woman will for God-knows-what-reason take interest in a man whose case seems completely hopeless and change him, so my suggestion is not based on total irrationality.

3. This man is in Nigeria where the treatment for psychological problems is not well- developed. So, we can be forming exposed and enlightened individual all we want but all those things will just be useless within the Nigerian context.

4. People have to learn that for you to bring an individual out from the pit they have dug for themselves be it alcoholism, drug abuse, gangsterism etc. You need to reason with them.
Now, I am a Muslim and Islam totally prohibits alcohol. However, if this guy is a Muslim. It would not be feasible (in most cases) to just ask him to cut alcohol totally from the beginning. It will take first of all reducing the quantity he takes before trying to wean him of by pointing-out the health risks and the harm it is doing to his total well-being and then now add the religious injunctions to it.

5. I have told OP to get psychological help for his brother but being in Nigeria, he needs strong family support and the efforts of a loving woman may be the 'X' factor this guy needs. I am not suggesting that a woman should put herself in an untenable position with any man. However, whether you believe it or not, there are women who are consciously or subconsciously attracted to such men and are willing to help them. If OP is lucky enough to find such for his brother, I don't see any problem in her trying to help him here. Don't think that anybody is hopeless and cannot change.

The fact that I said spinster does not imply that she is desperate- or should I have suggested a married woman for him?
I know some women are very powerful but the funny thing is that where will you find such women?

Everybody is tried of his attitude. He is not the fighting type when drunk but He can talk from morning till night. He hardly sleeps at night and he is always thinking about all his failed ambition

There are some powerfu
FamilyRe: My Brother Is An Acoholic, I Need Help! by OtunbaGm(op): 8:21am On Apr 23, 2012
SeanBell: Pardon me sir but your brother sounds like he is addicted to alcohol. He cannot help himself anymore. It isn't treated in weeks,it sometimes takes a lifetime of saying no,medication and having people you are accountable to.
Has he been placed on thia mine by his doctors? It is very essential he takes this medication to avoid brain damage. You could also talk to his doctor about placing him on d isul firam. It is a medication that is used to treat chronic alcoholism by causing the person to feel literally sick when they taste alcohol. It causes anxiety, restlessness and just a general unwell feeling.Imagine feeling this way each time you take a drink.
The drug doesn't make you stop craving alcohol though so the patient has to want to quit and has to put in some effort as well as have a very supportive unit. There's also aca mp rosate and nal trex one
(to reduce craving). They all have to be given under supervision of a doctor cos of underlying health issues he may have from his alcohol use.As it is,he will even have to be monitored to make sure he is compliant with the medication.
He needs major help but the will has to come from inside him.He has to take the first step and realise that he's destroying himself and his family, only then can any treatment be considered cos if not,he will go back.
Is there somewhere he can go to for rehabilitation? Is there a group where alcoholics who have quit support each other?I do not know if it is available in Nigeria but please speak with medical professionals.
I am very sorry for your plight,it isn't easy having a sibling who is an addict.

I was taught that addiction has a root cause, something drove him to find solace in excess alcohol use.It may have been failed ambition, loneliness, disappointment in the way his life turned out,i can't tell but to solve this you cut the root.If his alcohol is taken from him, what will it be replaced with?Love,life,ambition,light..whatever it is he has to find a drive somewhere and a reason to come out of his haze..I am sure there are qualified personnel around to guide him through this difficult phase
Good Luck
.
Thanks SeanBell,

I have taken note of those names. It was failed ambition plus disappointment in marriage cos his wife left him and to be honest to you guys, Once a woman gives birth to a son that has all the qualities in you, they will divert the love to the kid.

The woman he was trying to impress is gone and the feelings of not taken full responsibility of his son is making him mad the more. His son is still with the wife's parent cos he is their first grandson and we know going to claim him now will lead to "tribal war"

So I am really confused
