Health / Best & Affordable Diet For Healthy Liver by ourstory: 7:02pm On Oct 20, 2020
Nutrition always plays an important role in your survival and recovery, no matter which illness you may be suffering from.

Best or worst diet in Fatty Liver, Liver Cirrhosis, and Hepatitis A, B, C & D can be the deciding factor for whether you defeat them or they defeat you.

I am living and successfully fighting Chronic Hepatitis B for the past 20 years since the year 2000.

During all these years, I had to face various complications of HBV like Fatty Liver disease and Liver Fibrosis and had a close escape from Cirrhosis of the Liver in 2018(my chronic illness story).

My long battle with liver diseases has given me some useful experience about the best foods and diets for Fatty Liver, Liver Cirrhosis, and Hepatitis B that I am going to share with you.

Apart from Yoga & Meditation, a Controlled Diet has been another indispensable aspect of my successful management of chronic liver diseases.

Why is Diet Control a must for liver diseases like Fatty Liver, Liver Cirrhosis, and Hepatitis B?
Because, everything we consume has either some good or bad effects on our liver. Yes, and this is due to the fact that the liver plays an active role in food metabolism/digestion. It is also responsible for filtering toxins/harmful ingredients that we ingest as part of our diet, knowingly or unknowingly.

So, it is in the best interest of our liver that we follow a healthy and good diet that can help liver in healing and remain protected from further damage.

Like a healthy diet, an unhealthy diet has also both long term and short term effects on your liver and body. The long term effects of an unhealthy diet include Fatty Liver, Liver Fibrosis/Cirrhosis, and even Liver Cancer.
Then, what about the short term effects of an unhealthy diet! Let’s find them out.

Causes of Liver Pain, liver poking/needle pain, heaviness, hollowness and many more liver pain symptoms
Do you often feel the liver pain?
Do you often feel the liver pain? Those little but pestering liver pain symptoms which you feel for hours.

Do you suffer from fatty liver pain? That liver poking pain, heaviness, hollowness, and many more liver pain symptoms which you find it difficult to even express to your doctor.

Many of us often go through above liver pain symptoms which keep us wondering what may be their possible causes. These keep occurring in spite that we are taking regular medication and monitoring our liver diseases.

Well, let me tell you that in most of the cases, diet lapses are the culprit and we even don’t come to know about them. Hence, we keep facing these issues as we keep on going with our diet lapses.

By diet lapses, I mean sometimes we knowingly or unknowingly include those food items in our diet which are quite harmful and distressful for the liver.

Best Diet for Fatty Liver, Liver Cirrhosis, and Hepatitis B
So, let’s find out what is the best diet for your liver which can help you to recover from any liver disease like Fatty Liver, Liver Cirrhosis & Fibrosis, and Hepatitis B.

Some good veggies for healing liver illness are:

Cauliflower, Cabbage, Broccoli, Kale, Bok Choy, Brussels sprouts, Spinach, and similar green leaf vegetables are useful for liver diseases, being rich in nutrients.

Health / What Is The Mystery Of Corona Virus Origin? by ourstory: 7:58pm On Apr 25, 2020
The mystery of Coronavirus Origin can have three possible reasons

1.The family of coronaviruses which include several Respiratory disease-causing viruses like SARS and MERS are Zoonotic. It means they are usually found in animals like bats, camels, pangolin, etc and get transmitted from their natural hosts to humans. This mode of transmission might have occurred as a possible cause of the origin of coronavirus while people were busy enjoying the feast of these animals.

2. One possible cause may be the viral research program which might have been conducted for coronaviruses. Due to an accidental leak of these viruses, we are witnessing the flood of COVID-19.

3. The last is the least possible one but it cannot be denied. It is Bioweapon which may be either leaked or deliberately injected into society.

Health / All You Need To Know About Coronavirus Pandemic Through Q&A by ourstory: 7:39pm On Apr 25, 2020
If I am not wrong then our world is going to remember “Coronavirus Outbreak” for a very very very long time. In fact, such is its impact on human beings that only once in a century we come across such challenges. Unfortunately, we don’t know whether COVID-19 will become history(eradicated as some one time outbreak like SARS) or will become our long-term pathogenic guest and keep us haunting every year.

As the virus and the disease caused by it is newly found, there is no immediate treatment, cure or vaccine developed against COVID-19. So “Awareness” & Preventive measures are the best tools with which we can equip ourselves in our fight against this global epidemic. We can adopt preventive measures only when we are properly aware. And the best way of getting awareness is through questions & answers

In this blog, it is unlikely that you will not be able to find the answer to any of your questions about coronavirus and COVID-19.

Health / Coronavirus Lockdown - How To Survive And Not Get Bored During Covid-19 Lockdown by ourstory: 7:17pm On Apr 23, 2020
No doubt the COVID-19 Coronavirus staycation isn’t something you wanted to do. Perhaps you had travel plans canceled. Perhaps you’ve lost your job temporarily. Here are some ways of enjoying this long Lockdown.

1. Why not create a short film on tik-tok? It’s not only a bit of fun, but you can also learn some skills along the way. And if your video is creative enough, you might even gain some popularity.

2. Listen to a podcast (or multiple podcasts). TV, movies, and video games are great at first but can get very old over time. However, podcasts offer entertainment with a twist. Now that podcasts are available on almost every topic and for every demographic, it’s a way to really change things up and be entertained, laugh, or de-stress while doing a puzzle, taking a walk, running on the treadmill, etc.

3. A great way to stay busy, healthy, and connected is through group fitness challenges.

Within your group of friends or family, each day one person challenges the group. They choose a specific exercise, record themselves doing it, share it with everyone else, and then everyone has to try to beat it.

4. You can learn to play a new musical instrument.
Dust off that old guitar, tune it up, and start learning to play again!

5. Since schools are closed, create a schedule for learning activities and relaxing or fun activities. Make a schedule for you and your children that has time for structured activities as well as free time. This can help children feel more secure and better behaved.

6. It’s great to do free youtube exercise, dance and yoga videos along with your children to get those happy endorphins flowing together!
www.ourpositivestory.com

7. Declutter. You’ll be surprised seeing things that you bought but you didn’t recall that you did because they are just hidden. Set some ‘general cleaning’ days during this COVID-19 Staycation, where you assign family members on tasks to keep your things at home organized. And after a tiring day, there comes a delicious meal to look forward to when you’re done!

8. Start learning a new language! This is an activity that stimulates the mind and could come in useful if you want to travel after the COVID-19 lockdown is over!

9. Garden as a family. Young children can get involved with planting and watering. Older children can plan what to plant and can work on spacing the plants and weeding. It’s good for everyone to get outside and into the sunshine. Gardening is a rewarding experience as the plants grow and bloom and produce.

10. Writing is not only great for expressing your thoughts but it does wonders in letting out your emotions. You can write just about anywhere, and about anything, also it can be as private as you let it be. which means you can share with the world on your blog or social media or keep it to yourself in your diary.

Health / Find Answers Of All Your Questions On Hepatitis B On World Liver Day Today by ourstory: 5:17pm On Apr 19, 2020
Hepatitis B is a major and global health challenge whose worldwide prevalence has acquired the status of a silent epidemic as well as a silent killer.
It can give you sleepless nights and restless days if you or your family or friends are suffering from this disease. This is why it’s important to be alert and aware of Hepatitis B. Lets find out in this post various questions and answers(Q&A) about hepatitis b.

Hepatitis B Symptoms/Signs
Q&A about Hepatitis B symptoms/signs:

1. What are the common hepatitis b symptoms/signs?
Answer – Most patients have no symptoms and diagnosis is therefore usually an unwelcome surprise.

2. What are the early signs of hepatitis B?
Answer – Mostly hepatitis b is caught in early childhood and usually has no symptoms that can be recognized

In adult cases, the symptoms/signs of hepatitis b infection often include, but again they may be too mild to notice:

Dark/yellowish/orange colored urine.
Yellowing of your skin and the whites of your eyes (jaundice)
Loss of appetite(You don’t feel a liking for even your favorite dishes!)
Pain & heaviness in the abdomen.
Fever.
Joint pain.
Nausea and vomiting.
Weakness and fatigue and it may last for weeks & months.

3. Can hepatitis b patients show no symptoms after infection?
Answer – Yes, in some cases, the person infected may not show any symptoms. This is one of the reasons why hepatitis b has become a silent epidemic as almost 90% of hepatitis b carriers are unaware that they are actually carrying viral hepatitis b.

Silent carriers of HBV are at more risk of liver damage as unknowingly they may

drink alcohol,
be on long term painkillers
have a high oil and fried type diet
become very fat
have the virus for 50 years at a high level
These can greatly adversely impact the liver.

4. How long does it take for hepatitis B to show symptoms?
Answer – Symptoms begin to appear at an average of 8 weeks after exposure/infection. However, the person can show symptoms at any time between 8 weeks to 5 months after exposure.

5. How long do acute hepatitis B symptoms last?
Answer – Usually, symptoms last only a few weeks, but they can continue for up to 6 months. In the case of chronic hepatitis b, a person can remain symptomless for decades or for the whole life.

6. What organ is affected by hep b? or
7. Hepatitis b attacks which part of the body?
Answer- Liver. Yes, Hepatitis b virus often creates an extra level of activity in the liver, mainly higher ALTand AST scores causing damage to the liver, fibrosis and cirrhosis, eventually over the decades. The higher(million-plus) levels of virus in the blood also speed up the risk and onset of sudden liver cancer.

Q&A about Hepatitis B treatment/cure:

1. What is the effective treatment for Hepatitis B? or
2. Is hepatitis B curable or treatable?

There is no medical cure for hepatitis b as of now. Acute Hepatitis B infection will usually go away on its own, even without medical treatment in 95% of adults. However 90% of HBV infected infants under 2 years of age will become chronic carriers.

In the case of chronic hepatitis b, effective anti-viral treatment(medication) is available which reduces the hepatitis B viral load to undetectable when used continuously. Improving liver health is greatly aided by avoiding toxins and following a healthy diet and avoiding obesity.

In some 80% of chronic cases, antiviral therapy may not be advised by Doctor as the HBV level is quite low and inactive but the person requires to monitor his viral load regularly along with liver function tests.

3. Why is there no Hepatitis B cure till now?
Answer – Hepatitis b virus has defied medical cure till now as even effective anti-viral medications have not been able to completely destroy the virus genome particle (cccDNA) inside the tiny cells of the body. The cccDNA of Hepatitis B virus can remain in the body cells as it somehow convinces the immune system it is a part of the body and not a virus.

4. When will be hepatitis b curable?
Answer – Well, it depends upon the success of scientific and medical research going on all around the globe. As per available reports, it may take at least 3 to 6 more years to make hepatitis b medically curable and for the drugs to become widely available at an affordable price. Let’s hope for the best.

5. Can Chronic Hepatitis B go away on its own?
Answer – Yes, the infection usually goes away on its own in 1 to 3% of cases of chronic hepatitis b.

If that does not happen, chronic hepatitis can last life long and requires regular medical check-ups and attention.

Health / Why Hepatitis B Can Give You Sleepless Nights And How To Fight This Devil by ourstory: 8:22pm On Apr 16, 2020
Suffering from chronic hepatitis B can indeed give you restless days and sleepless nights. Either we learn to manage & keep control over our invisible viral companion or else they can go out of control even without giving us an idea about their deadly plans against our Liver.

If you aren’t aware why Hepatitis B can be so deadly then let’s do a reality check as under:

=Chronic Hepatitis B is still not curable by medical science even after 5 decades of the discovery of its virus in 1970. When something is cureless, there is little or scope for being careless about it.

=No matter at which stage of life you become its victim, if it turns chronic, it is likely to accompany you throughout your life. During its long pathogenic stay inside our liver, its only aim is to feed on our liver till the dinner is over and so are we.

=Hepatitis B virus is one of its kind due to its very unique and complex process of replication inside the host cell. You may not be aware but it is true that scientists are still far away from understanding this virus completely. The virus can produce millions of copies easily without giving any visible symptoms to its host in a matter of a few weeks or months. An indeed silent striker.

=As CHB gets old and old, its associated risks usually gain more and more probability.

=Last but not the least, chances of Liver Cirrhosis and Liver Cancer remain associated with Chronic hepatitis B patients due to factors within or beyond their control.

“Do you know that You can significantly improve the health of your ailing liver and quality of your life by just investing your 10-15 minutes every day by doing some best Yoga practices for Chronic Hepatitis B Patients?”

“Your Liver is undoubtedly one of the strongest and most important organs in your body as it has the responsibility of managing at least 500 functions.
It is indeed a Super Organ. But, how much do you care for your Liver, being a carrier of Chronic Hepatitis B?”

“Let’s discover the true power of Yoga and Meditation to break the shackles of a chronic illness and start living a fear-free life“

While suffering from chronic hepatitis b, your already overburdened liver tries its best to let you live a normal life in spite of fighting with hundreds and thousands of viruses.

But, you cannot remain ignorant & inactive for this wonderful organ in spite of its amazing capabilities.

The fact remains that it genuinely needs proper care and support as the liver of a hepatitis B carrier is at an additional risk of facing severe complications like liver cirrhosis and liver cancer.

In my previous post, I have mentioned various factors/measures which play an important role in the control and management of chronic Hepatitis B and undoubtedly Yoga leads among all these measures.

Believe Me, Yoga can be a reliable and trusted savior when it comes to controlling and managing Chronic Hepatitis B and its complications for both in the short and long term.

I owe my life to Yoga and I am a testimony to the healing effects of some simplified Yoga practices if practiced properly and regularly. My constantly normal health parameters speak for my Yoga practices from the last few years.

Yoga Tool Kit
The artillery of Yoga consists of a wide range of Kits and each Kit has a number of tools in it. But, it is important to know which Yoga Tools are best for you so that by investing minimum energy and time, you can get the best desirable results.

So, while learning and experimenting with yoga myself, I gradually created my own Yoga Tool Kit which contains a few simple but very powerful Yoga practices.

This Yoga Tool Kit played a key role in rescuing me from drowning in the sea of this chronic illness when I was in a do or die situation in 2018. It fits me best and since then it is helping me to stay strong, remain protected and keep fighting this chronic illness.

My Yoga Tool Kit primarily consists of three most important forms of Yoga:

1. Pranayama (Breathing Yoga Exercises)
2. Asanas (Body Poses)
3. Humming Meditation(My custom and powerful way of Meditation to fight depression and negativity)

For all the above Yoga practices, you need not more than 10-15 minutes daily in the morning and as you start to feel its benefits, you can suitably increase the time as per your requirement.

Top 10 Benefits of Yoga for Chronic Hepatitis B patients

1. Boosting of Liver Functions
The liver is quite overburdened with hundreds of Body functions and suffering from Chronic Hepatitis B certainly adds much more strain to our liver.
Yoga practices called Pranayams(controlled Breathing Exercises) and Asanas(Body Poses) significantly boost liver’s functions by activating and rejuvenating it.

2. Treatment of Liver Fibrosis and Cirrhosis
Chronic Hepatitis B can cause Liver Fibrosis and Cirrhosis in the long run. In liver cirrhosis, oxygenation and blood flow are prevented by the formation of scar tissues in the Liver. Your liver is unable to perform its vital functions like removing toxins and metabolizing fat.
Yoga Asana called Cow face Pose(Gomukhasana) is quite helpful in treating Liver Fibrosis and Cirrhosis. By practicing this asana regularly, your liver gets stimulated, thereby ensuring that oxygen and blood flow freely through it.

3. Detoxification of Liver
An ailing liver is unable to fully remove toxins from the body due to which these toxins start accumulating in the liver itself. Some Twisting Asanas(Body Twisting Poses) like Boat Pose, Spinal Twist, Half Spinal Twist are helpful in detoxifying our ailing and tired Liver

4. Boosting of Immunity
A good immune system becomes all more important for a person living with chronic hepatitis b to help the body to control the viral growth and prevent the viruses from damaging the Liver.
Some simple Yoga Pranayams(Breathing Yoga Practices) can help to boost your immunity and the same can be maintained in the long run by regular practices.

5. Protection from Co-infection with other serious illnesses
My dwindling immunity resulted in a relapse of Pulmonary Tuberculosis and I had to fight the co-infection of chronic Hepatitis B with Pulmonary Tuberculosis. Believe me, it was a nightmare situation for me for many months wherein I remained in a dilemma about the hepatotoxicity effects of strong TB antibiotics.
I owe to Yoga for my life as it was during that time where I turned to yoga and witnessed its powerful and healing effects.

While living with viral hepatitis b, you are likely to come across some co-infection with other illnesses and infections during your long journey with CHB.
But, if you are practicing Yoga regularly, your good immunity is likely to protect you from Co-infection with other illnesses which otherwise can prove fatal in many cases.

6. Protection from severe complications of suffering from Chronic Hepatitis B
It is definitely one of the best benefits you are likely to get if you are a Yoga follower while living with CHB. We all know what sorts of severe complications CHB is potent to cause in its host and Liver Cirrhosis and Liver Cancer are the most deadly among them.

The useful Pranayams and Asanas keep your liver and your immune system robust enough to keep these complications at bay.
So, one can definitely live a more carefree and fear-free life as regards the above complications if the person living with chronic hepatitis B is a regular Yoga practitioner.

7. Strong and Enduring Mental Strength
Believe it or not, illnesses whether acute or chronic are fought more through mind and less through the body.

Your success or failure in dealing with any serious or chronic illness is decided more by the level of mental strength and less by the state of bodily health.

With a fragile and losing mind, you can hardly win over any serious illness no matter how robust your body system may be. But with a strong and enduring mind, you can easily win your battle against any illness regardless of the state of your body system.

I have already mentioned that the very basis and spine of Yoga is to strengthen your mind and then synchronize it with your body.
No matter which Paranayam or Asana or any other form of Yoga you are practicing, a concentrated mind is the first and foremost requirement. Then, it is also a fact that our mind is the first and foremost gainer of almost all Yogic practices.

8. A Healthy Body full of strength and vitality
Undoubtedly, your Liver is one of the most vital organs of your body and its well being is of prime importance for you as you are fighting a chronic and deadly viral infection.
But, it is equally important for you to keep your entire body system strong and enduring. Even a robust liver cannot be of much use if it is housed in a dying body.

Yoga can play a vital role in imparting your body the required strength and vitality through its arsenal of Breathing Exercises and Body Poses and of course Meditation. Yoga Pranayam like Kapal Bhati has the potential to shape your entire body systems by channelizing the “prana” throughout our body.

9. Minimizing or neutralizing the side effects of strong medications/drugs
Can you count the number of pills that you might have taken while fighting chronic hepatitis b or some other chronic illness?
Well, truly speaking, I have lost count of hundreds of pills of different colors and shapes which I have taken in the past 20 years. And I feel sorry for my liver that how it could have coped with all those medicines.

But, why am I asking this question?

Because the liver is the principal site of drug metabolism as most drugs that we consume pass through our liver where enzymes act upon these drugs to metabolize them.
And, we all know that every drug/medicine no matter how safe it may be, do has some side effect. Then, of course the first recipient of even the slightest side effect of any medicine would be none other than our drug cooker i.e. our liver.

So, when we require taking pills every day for a long time, it becomes all more important to neutralize or at least minimize their side effects.

Yes, Yoga is again able to take great care of these side effects so that there is either none or minimum impact on the liver(or even on the entire body)

But, how is that possible?

Yoga practices make it possible as various Pranayams and Asanas are also helpful in detoxifying our body systems including your liver

10. Instilling Positivity and Liveliness
Well, this is something which you can feel yourself when you start following Yoga and you can best judge about it.

That’s why I am not discussing it here theoretically.

Come on, Live Yoga and Feel Yoga!

So, that was all about what and why of Yoga for someone living with any chronic or serious illness.

Till now, you must have understood that Yoga is indispensable for a person fighting with chronic hepatitis b.
