Would I be correct to say that you hold that hell exist because you have faith and not because you have seen the 'place' physically?

hegelian:
unless u dont agree with world definition of life (encarta dico define life as existence in physical form and also theological books)

That really can hardly pass as the "world definition of life"...it leaves too much to be desired. If life is 'existence in physical form' then the question that comes readily to mind is: which physical form does life take?

When we say something is physical in this context we necessarily mean that thing is subject to human 'perception' i.e we can identify with that thing through our human senses and that thing is material.

Life in itself is not subject to the 'perception' of man. We can only identify with it relatively. If I ask you to tell me the colour, shape etc of life I bet you won't be able. This in itself necessarily tells us that life is not substantive.

Here are some definitions I can agree with, within the context of our discourse:

a : the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body

b : a principle or force that is considered to underlie the distinctive quality of animate beings

hegelian:
i think life cannot be used to stand as a whole, for life to exist it must combine material (physical form matter) and non material (consciouness) unless ofcourse u dont agree with definition of life

The above simply means that you do not believe in spirits and that man is strictly speaking made up of only what we can see and touch and nothing else.

The definition of life you presented has 'k-leg' unless you are willing to explain what you mean by "existence in physical form".

hegelian:

you said spirit and life are the same thing and went on to say spirit is sometimes called soul interchangeably (i dont get u really).

I believe you know what interchangeably means...

hegelian:
life is talking about existence in physical form which means the fussion of material and non-material.

I don't quite agree with the bold...a dead body exists in physical form but that body does not have life in it. So when you talk about the existence of life in 'physical form' I fail to get your meaning.

hegelian:
almost everyone(including religious and non-religious) sees consciousness as a non-material.

Okay!

hegelian:
if religions talk about ressurection as the reawakening of life,

I do not believe that life has the capacity for death. A body can die when there is no life in it but life in itself does not die. When I talk about the resurrection, I do not refer to a resurrection of life but of the body i.e the body and spirit are re-united but then there will be a glorified body instead.

hegelian:
does it mean that material and non-material will come together again (afterlife is always conveyed as a non-material realm).

I am not sure what you mean by non-material but if by the bold you mean the fusion of the body and spirit, then yes!

hegelian:
if not does it mean that religions support re-incarnation (cos its the only way life can back into being material and non-material going by scriptural convictions)

Some religions support re-incarnation!

While it is possible that Striklyme may have been targeted for his speaking out on this Seun/Jesoul incident, it is also necessary to note, that unlike our dear Striklyme, he has of recent resorted to posting "Olodo" at every .........

Am of the opinion that it is a phase, that our dear Striklyme will revert to his normal self.

To me, the mods have expressed their love for him since they hard allowed it to continue for a pretty while befor now.

However, a lot depends on your view of what "Olodo" means, if it is a civilised mode of communication.

Meanwhile, there is an eagerness to see our dear Striklyme revert to his usual self.

Religion / Re: What Is The Difference Between Life And Soul (spirit Or Whatever We Call It) by outcst1: 2:06pm On Jun 13, 2013
Hi heg,

I believe that life and spirit often refers to the same thing but the soul refers to something in addition to life: and that is the body.

Without the spirit or if you prefer 'life' the body cannot function as it is supposed to. The spirit gives 'life' to the body while the soul comes in when there is this fusion between the spirit and the body.

The soul and the spirit are often used interchangeably because in a sense, the soul is still this spirit we talk about. You can say the soul is our spirit giving life to the human body...not sure if that makes sense to you.

Shoouting "Olodo" alone with no thread-worthy commonets on different threads is trolling.

Is the above supposed to demonstrate that I am guilty of an offence you are not guilty of? Can we have some examples please and let's evaluate whether you are right?

Logicboy03:
You had intent to disrupt

Calling an OP olodo is the same as disrupting it? Please tell us how? Does it make any difference if I use the word: "Rubbish"?

Logicboy03:
You had no intent to contribute intelligently

Please bring your evidence and show us how one can contribute intelligently to an OP or a comment that lacks intelligence?

Logicboy03:
You had intent to annoy as you have kept calling me "olodo" over the past few weeks constantly

Oh, calling you Olodo annoys you? Sorry maybe you want me to change it to "f**tard" instead.

Logicboy/manmustwac

Pick any definition you want and demonstrate to me that I trolled with the id: striktlymi and state why what I did is different from what other members do.

troll

One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers. He will spark of such an argument via the use of ad hominem attacks (i.e. 'you're nothing but a fanboy' is a popular phrase) with no substance or relevence to back them up as well as straw man arguments, which he uses to simply avoid addressing the essence of the issue.

1a. Noun
One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument.

1b. Noun
A person who, on a message forum of some type, attacks and flames other members of the forum for any of a number of reasons such as rank, previous disagreements, sex, status, ect.
A troll usually flames threads without staying on topic, unlike a "Flamer" who flames a thread because he/she disagrees with the content of the thread.

1c. Noun
A member of an internet forum who continually harangues and harasses others. Someone with nothing worthwhile to add to a certain conversation, but rather continually threadjacks or changes the subject, as well as thinks every member of the forum is talking about them and only them. Trolls often go by multiple names to circumvent getting banned.

See me see wahala. I reported logicboy to manmustwac for calling me a f**ktard and a creatard but it seemed rule 2 wasn't existing anymore.

I remember the incident very well...

This was your complaint to Lieutenant manmustwac:

Uyi Iredia: manmustwacc: Why don't you want to ban logicboy ? You banned me for calling someone a m**fer but leave logicboy to call me a f**tard. That's a clear case of double standard.

@ logicboy: If you think this is a pathetic 'cry to mummy' case be rest assured it is not. I can be pretty innovative when it comes to insults. Just because I cooled down since Mudley left doesn't mean I can't give you a much needed @$$-whooping.

and this is manmustwac's 'almighty wisdom' at restoring sanity to the section:

manmustwac: @uyi iredia
I can't ban every tom d..k & harry for offensive language so t have to look for what stands out from the crowd.

@alfa
If she sees it as offensive she has every right to lockthe thread

He definitely can't ban everyone for offensive language but when striktlymi does something less than calling someone a f**tard he gets banned.

Uyi Iredia:
May I suggest the motion that rule 2 be amended. All in agreement say Yes.

It depends on the kind of 'amendment'.

Thread officially closed but...

You do realize that the grandfather was not present at other meetings because war was upon him...he came back only to meet a power crazed boy handling state matters as he deemed fit...wasting his threats (backed by brute force) on his defenceless subjects instead of being a king to them.

He saw all these and decided to speak up, considering that no one dared stood up to him. The comment like I said is directly related to the manner in which Geoffrey handled state matters.

Anyways, I have decided to let 'sleeping dogs lie'...

But there is a need to advise manmustwac on his tac...if he wants respect he needs to give it too. The offences he accuses me of are what he is also guilty of.

I do not take delight in calling him silly but his actions in the last few days can best be described as 'witch hunting'. He gave me a 12 hr ban for calling Logicboy 'olodo', a title he truly deserves...

Now the id: outc@st is tagged by spyguru and he has not done anything to untag it despite being here at the time. I can wait out the ban but manmustwac truly needs to get of me.

The phrase stands out on its own!

"Any man who must say "I am king" is no true king"

Very clear statement. A statement that can be applied to who ever shouts "i am king/boss" to get things done

Now you are getting me worried about you!

How you can afford to pick a phrase from a book you did not write, assume a subtext that can mean just anything if left on it's own and apply it to religion beats me.

It's similar to assuming a subtext for a passage of Sacred scriptures without attempting to understand what the author had in mind...anyways this shows why you always interpret Sacred scriptures from the left.

But seriously LB, are you saying that everyone should give a meaning to that phrase as he or she deems fit? Well pappi, you are wrong on this one though I don't expect you to see it.

Why can't you quote the misleading part rather than following people.

Science does not confirm or verify after death experience. Science deals with the physical and not metaphysics. Metaphysics is beyond the scope of science and as such it is not verifiable for now as far as science is concerned.
