Bayelsa a small state with large resources isn't even in the top places 💔. Even Akwa Ibom isn't there💔. Nigerian leaders should have a special place in hell💔😡
It's because the wealth is not evenly distributed.
Akwa Ibom is one of the highest FAA recipients but the state only focus on infrastructures and neglecting human capital investment. As for Bayelsa state the youths are too lazy to work.

The combined revenue of the next 9 top states (Abuja, Rivers, Edo, Oyo, Delta, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Kwara) is approximately ₦5.90 billion.

I don't really understand, why is it that in every economy indexes, Edo state is always at the top? Seeing the state in forth position surpassing the likes of Delta and Enugu state makes me to wonder.

The only thing thriving in Enugu state is propaganda. The governor knows that there’s no way for external entities to check how much they got as IGR that’s why they have given out such bogus data.
Yes, I agree with you Bro. They was a report I read few weeks ago when the governor of the state, Peter Mba said that in the first 7 months of 2024, the state generated 35b naira. My question is this, if in 7 months of 2024, Enugu state generated 35b naira, how did it skyrocketed to 180b naira in that same year under review? No be juju be that?
Secondly in 2023, Enugu state generated 33b naira, now how did she (Enugu state) generated 180b naira in 2024? Can't you see that something is fishy somewhere?

I still don't believe Enugu state IGR. What did the state generated in 2024? What where the industries that were tax in the state that enable her to generate such a whopping sum of 180b naira in 2025? Let us see the breakdown sector by sector.

How did it happened? What magic did the governor used to generate such an amount?

Since then, steadily there was gradual decline... and now very visible ones...

Next is DStv which has been sold off... Sensing fast decline spending for leisure as poverty grips Nigeria, again with the growing popularity of internet channels subscriptions t. V ...

Even online vendors are struggling to stay in business now, only few are making it big compared to 8 years ago. Only content creators making people to laugh away their sorrows are the ones making good money online through Facebook, X, etc ad revenue sharing.

Jumia, Konga, etc are all struggling to make sales now compared with 8 to 9 years ago.

The issue is that the purchasing power of Nigerians have been reduced to the barest minimum. People are barely surviving in Nigeria. Inflation have wiped off Nigeria's Middleclass population, couple with mass unemployment, japa wave, etc

What exactly is the criteria for demanding statehood?

If someone insists that Ibadan should be made a state, shouldn’t he face the public in a proper press conference to explain why?

Look at America:
• Texas is so massive you can drive 24 hours across it and still be in the same state.
• Some U.S. states even stretch across multiple time zones.

Yet, they’re not breaking themselves up into little fragments every time someone feels entitled.

Meanwhile, here, every small local government with three roundabouts wants to crown itself a “state.” For what? Prestige? More political appointments? Access to federal allocation?

This constant agitation for micro-states is unserious. Real states are built around economic viability, infrastructure, and governance capacity, not just sentiment.

Until someone can define the hard criteria, population size, GDP output, landmass, resources, this noise about turning every LGA into a state is nothing but a distraction.
they is nothing to say again. You have spoken my mind. Kudos!

ThinkSmarter:
See the truth.
Development are not brought only by the government.
The private sector contribute more to development than the government.
For example, in East, it's those Igbo guys that sells building materials, spare parts, electronics, etc that builds the Igbo villages and towns.
The government only constructs roads and erects electric poles in most cases.
But, most Bayelsans are not involved in trades/commerce.
They are only interested in civil service and politics.
But, didn't realize that diversification is the key to economic prosperity.
Actually, development happens if citizens are engaged meaningfully in all the Sectors of the economy.
Sectors: Farming, artisan, manufacturing, construction, commerce, service, entertainment, etc.

Governors get more allocations - true! But the same Nigerians would say, be loyal to your godfather.

When godfather places his demands who would oppose it?
When governors misappropriate funds would the FG allow civil societies to sue or push for impeachment?

Mr Tinubu once said, hold your governors accountable, but he should also go a step further and enforce the protest and riot act to bar police from hurting protesters.
FG should create a website where citizens can view their governors expenditures and view contractors/vendors details to verify the true cost of procurements.
Asides giving autonomy to LGs the FG should inform the public and advice them on instituting impeachment proceedings.

More accountability and power to the electorate will justify his intentions of really wanting to reach the grassroots and not buying governors.
PoliticsRe: Akwa-Ibom Vs Cross River: Which Is The Most Peaceful State In Nigeria? by OVB123: 11:39am On Aug 30, 2025
IbrahimSola:
The day I drove my car to Uyo, I wished I was living there. Uyo as the capital city is at the Centre, so many people go to work at Uyo daily from their villages.

The roads are clean spotless and massive everywhere you go. Well paved road with road signs everywhere with an unbelievable interconnectivity. No wonder Nigeria hosts most of their matches in Uyo stadium.

Cross river with its vast landmass (3x of Akwa Ibom) cannot be compared with Akwa Ibom in any way. The infrastructure in Akwa Ibom ranks shoulder to shoulder with Lagos, Rivers and close to Abuja (apart from all the national infrastructures).

In terms of security, we used to hear regularly of fights between Ebonyi State and some nearby local governments in Cross River... something about border and land, serious crises that displace people every time . Th same clashes happen between sister local governments in CRS too. Recently, we saw trending videos of herdsmen invasion in Bekwarra where people living outside were being asked to checkup on their relatives in Bekwarra LGA, Cross River State.

So to me, Akwa Ibom is still the safest and cleanest state in Nigeria. Its also the most serene. Their roads are fun to drive on. Their foods have levels too. I'm planning to start a business in that place, especially because of the centrality of their state Capitol with gives everyone equal access within 1 hour from any part of the state. No traffic, no street urchins. And the people are generally receptive of visitors.
I think you did essay writing, when you were in secondary school alot because all you wrote here are precise and concise.
The only problem I have with Akwa Ibom state is that the people are not business minded, they is little or no business activities in Uyo and other surrounding towns in the state.

Both are sweet places. Two nice places in the South South that made good use of their oil money especially Akwa Ibom.

Unlike yeye Delta and Bayelsa states
Delta state is better than Akwa Ibom state. Do not allow the beauty of Uyo or Ikot Ekpene to fool you.
The human capital indexes of Akwa state is still one of the lowest in the southern part of Nigeria but however, the place is cleaner than Delta state.

Everyone had Army, language, chiefs in their respective domains before being annexed into Oyo empire. Egba, Owo, etc had their distinct languages before adoption of the Oyo empire's language we call Yoruba till today. All armies fell to Alaafin, the supreme head of Oyo empire who had full control of the army, imposed taxes, Regents/ chieftains, even a common bible on the entire land.

Let Ooni limit his political patronage to the Aso rock jests for their Political humours they like to indulge in. Let him not bring that Political patronage to the traditional arena by attempting what his fathers have never done.
God bless you very much.

It's another overreach from Ooni's insatiable desperation for supremacy. From his latest quest to assume Permanent Chairmanship of Nigerian traditional institution, he seeks to install chiefs beyond his domain. It's Political patronage taken too far.

Which of Ooni's fathers did he draw the precedence from. Alaafin before colonialism owned the Army (headed by Aare Ona Kakanfo), the Legislature (constituted by Oyo mesi). This Ooni's experiment is an aberration new to Yoruba culture and tradition.

Where did this Ooni get his idea and precedence from? Someone should tell Ooni in case he doesn't know that the contraption called Yoruba land aka Oyo empire was a creation of The Alaafin who annexed the whole land, gave it a universal language, Army, Legislature & traditional council.
Thank God someone is now reasoning like me.
Most of this people that are commenting don't know history very well.
