Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by overhypedsteve(m): 4:30pm On Jun 03, 2016
NaijaTalkTown:
Through but we will never be able to develop our economies without reasonable defense forces. Libya makes a very good example. Think of what could have happened to Iran without it's strong military background. Look at Russia in the 90s. Russia was weak economically, but how did Russia manage to get back? In this world if ours, a strong military is not an option. You need it.
African states must learn to be very diplomatic. Gadafhi wasn't, Iran isn't and Russia is a very special case.
Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by overhypedsteve(m): 4:03pm On Jun 03, 2016
I know most of us feel that as Africans we are not doing enough in terms of Military Procurement and spending and as such we may not be able to occupy our rightful place in the committee of nations, that is very wrong. What African states need for now is not to go into war with any other state as this would greatly erode the little progress we have made economically and infrastructurally, what Africa needs for now is to develope its industries, its economy and its democracy. To be scincere there is presently no African Nation that can fully sponsor a full scale modern war not Egypt( egypt may end up not being able to field half of her assets in a war situation due to financial constraints and serviceability), not Algeria, not Nigeria and definitely not The South Africans. Modern warfare is expensive and dangerous and African Nations are not even developed enough to go into a world war 2 type conflict not to talk of modern warfare with all the innovations in military tech accompanied.

We do should not be talking about Air Defense or any asset that is suggestive of conventional adventurism because we are not there yet. The Chinese were backward during world war 2 but that does not mean they are still backward, they focused on building industries and their economy and what we see now is as a result of that commitment.

What I am saying is we can never be too strong as Africans unless we build our economies and industries. African states must seek for peaceful solution to their disputes with themselves and other states because we are not just there Militarily and we have no business being there Militarily for now.

No African country will get a permanent seat in the council. EVER
thank you Joor. Fixing South Africa as a parmanent member does not solve the problem of African representation in the UNSC. The western powers won't support SA, the BRICS powers may not all support Nigeria so the two African rivals can kiss it good bye. Yeye rivalry.

next time if you want to reply me please be clear and specific with your points. Every country can make it name sound big, Nigeria of N, South Africa of S and so on should I take it that you cherish and worship the US only thanks the beauty of the name?
I just told you that the same US more than a decade ago had difficulties picking out mobile launchers on the ground which led to the scud attack on Israel In 1991. Why do you think countries even the US favours mobile launchers for air defence
in a theatre as vast as Russia it would take an invading force years to cripple its air defence capability, that would be if air strikes carried out by the aggressor would amount to anything. During the Serbian war NATO jets were busy wasting their overpriced munitions on worthless assets and dud SAM launchers while the real assets were logded in bunkers waiting for NATO to make the foolish decision of ground fight against a systematically entrenched enemy that have spent years perfecting ways to defend its territory. During the second gulf war the US was again forced to fight on the ground after wasting million worth of precision munitions on worthless civilian targets. They had to send in the marines against the poor unorofessional foot soldiers of Iraq that were already tired from staying in the trenches for months, the Iraqis readily gave up themselves and they moved on to Baghdad to face the more elite republican guards and they were able to overcome them with their heavily mechanised battle formation. But going against Russia would be like going against Ten thousand Serbia and 100s of Upgraded Iraq put Together, I am not saying the US won't win, I am just saying it would be the defining event for modern combat.
