patches689: There is nowhere in Southern Africa for pirates to operate from.
And, furthermore, our blue economy is worth R177-billion - so there is value there.
Fact of the matter is that piracy is the hallmark of a failed state, South Africa and the rest of SADAC have our act together so it is not a problem.
And our Navy is more than capable of securing our waters - thats why we will be starting to patrol yours exactly his point. Pirates do not risk their lives to steal fishes and sea shells. That's why despite the heightened security situation pirates from all over have always risked our gulf cus they know the about the wealth there. Other oil channel like the Persian gulf, Suez canal and gulf of Oman are secured by multi national task forces whose capacity complements each other. But in the case of the west African gulf, Nigeria have the highest investment and interests she have the biggest navy and despite the exchange of information and intelligence between west African navies, the nigerian Navy still have to work more to ensure that the billion dollar worth of investment around her sphere of interest are secured. |

Our frigates put boat davits on the missile deck. Since missiles are not needed for peace time patrols. so we should immediately change our doctrine because of an online argument? |

Thiza: HELP SOUTH AFRICA.....FORMER RECCES TO NIGERIAN ASSISTANCE a very welcomed development. I have always called for an African solution to the African problem, we shouldn't always allow the west to do things for us. I still have regrets on the issue of those missing girls cus I know that, that was one issue that sparked inter national outrage, but while other western and eastern countries were busy showing their commitments, both rhetorically and materially, Our brother here in Africa that could have helped us to track their borders and ensure that the girls were not smuggled into their territory they pretended like they didn't know that Nigeria is at war. and when a nation is at war, she needs all the help she can get. Some f00ls on here would publicly boast that the whole of Africa hate Nigerians and now i ask the persons that have this hate for Nigeria, why do you hate us, what have we done to merit this hate, we ve spent a good part of our short period oif independence ensuring that the whole of Africa is free and peaceful, even with war on our hands we ve our soldiers and police helping to sustain peace in other African countries. That is who we are, we will never boast of this things cus we know that a help given to a brother will never be forgotten. This is the value that we hold to and this is the reason why even our brothers now boast of the hate they have for us. If the south Africans think they have help to offer, then let them come. Cus aside the e-wars and arguments, I am just an African. I know my imperfections but I also know the strenght that we draw from our unity, I am Nigeria.. |

RM786:
Seeker was used extensively to track rhino movements and try and look for poachers in the Kruger Park, so they are operational. We're not at war so obviously they aren't in service If we need them they'll be fielded and with far more sophisticated avionics, surveillance equipment, targeting systems, weapons, etc than that cool little thing.
The Seeker 400 is fully developed and operational including integration of weapons systems, just in case the user wants to go on the offensive , with successful live firing tests using DENEL Mokopa precision guided air to surface missiles (similar to the US Hellfire missile but more modern, more accurate and with longer range) already completed. If you put some A-Darters under the wings good chance it would be able to knock one of those American Predator drones you love out of the sky.
Apologies for correcting you yet again, not only can they be put to work if required but they're designed, developed and produced entirely in house right from the seeker heads of the munitions to the tips of the wings, so be careful not to pull a hamstring as you extract your foot from your mouth. I know it is a burden having to store so much wisdom and knowledge in your head so I completely understand how you may have forgotten that RSA has been building UAV's since the 70's the drones you used in tracking your rhinos are surveillance drones. |

agaugust: That is war, no side has monopoly of scoring hits, war is war, both sides are armed with weapons, both can kill and be killed. That is real war !
You Southies don't know what war is like because SANDF performs only in photographs and on internet, you ask SANDF to deploy 30,000 man army with infantry, artilley, tanks, etc plus a complete air force of jets , helicopters , drones , ISTAR, etc, only then will you Southies know what war really is, only then will your SANDF be truly battle tested.
As at today 2015, SANDF is NOT battle tested, in Bush war old SADF deployed only 4,000 men about 25 years ago.
Since then, South Africa has NEVER deployed up to 2,000 men fighting alone, NEVER !
Your current fleet of air force jets have NEVER flown any combat mission !
You have NEVER written an exam, yet you laugh at those who have written exams many time over, you are really thoughtless !
Go to war, big war , all alone and let us see SANDF performance, not internet boasting of what you have never experienced.
Fight war at home in Soweto, fight against your own citizens and see betrayers, moles, traitors, and secret enemies, plus suicide bombers, then and only then call we call SANDF a real professional battle tested army, for now, SANDF is a photographers club
Nigerian army losing vehicle to Boko Haram and going back to fight and recapture it from the deadly enemy is a great achievement ! No army of cowards can ever do that ! Even the mighty American marines did not have courage to go back and collect their captured Humvee vehicles from Taliban terrorists, Nigerian soldiers are braver than American soldiers.....See photos ! . careful mate. Don't give our little southie friend and heart attack. Any war in south Africa would be a war pitched between two cowards, so never expect it to be so advanced. There will be no suicide bombers, no use of mines or ieds, there will be No use of AAA technicals, and the conflict will end up quickly in the dialogue table, cus they have no stomach for casualties. |

EVarn: picture of the armed drone.it resembles a MALE US Army MQ-1C Gray Eagle UAV.but on looking closely,i discovered a few distinct differences between this drone and the US Gray Eagle, *the fulcrums{legs} are bow in shape instead of the diagonally shaped lift present in the Gray Eagle. *the nose is narrow and pointed, instead of long and thick. this drone looks more like a pakistani "burraq" UAV.it also bear similarities with the saudi-arabian standard UAV. there are many drones with similar shapes, you only differentiate with the wpecs and country of origin. |

The concert of Africa. Just like the European quadruple alliance that defeated imperialistic napoleon, African leaders have formed a collective front against terrorism.something i will like to call the good alliance, as it is a force that was created to fight against the evil ones that have brought shame on our ones proud religion of peace. This evil ones have made us all to look like bad people, with little value for human life. This alliance is a symbol of hope, justice and order in a region that is fraught with brutal injustice and disorder. You all should feel free to ask me any question on this issue. |

francizy: And I bet Nigeria keeps going down the drain because of people like you. It seems the only thing your brain can manufacture as a human being is insults. Young Nigerians? Taking what nation? A nation governed by bullies with the highest level of corruption in the world, a nation with high level of insecurity, a nation that about 70% or more of its citizen live below NGN 1000 dollars per day while the government spend more than NGN1M only on daily meal, a nation with decayed infrastructure and lack of or no power supply, a nation infested with tribal and religious biased beings, etc.
Tell me how young Nigerians are taking the nation somewhere when they are being ruled by dull and criminal minded politicians. How are they taking the nation somewhere when they are celebrating failures as president and presidential candidate of the opposition?
You gotta talk to people in a more civilized manner so that you make a lill bit of sense. Else, you'd better resort to conversing with apes because that's the level of reasoning you're displaying. as per chatting with apes, yes i do rather chat with apes than chat with a man that is ashamed of his identity. The nation is where it is today not because its people where too ashamed to identify themselves with it, but because they saw through the lies, allegations and propaganda of the outside world, that tried to label them as useless and hopeless. They waved through this sea of shame and came out a strong people, filled with their imperfections, but mindful of their strength in unity. My Nigeria does not give a f7ck about whether you want to be a nigerian or not, we have only one country and we can only work together to make it better. You sitting with your cheap smartphone criticising everybody's efforts will not help matters. I am sorry i insulted you first and even in this comment, i just do not respect people who do not respect their identity or my nation. Wale112 the OP knows me fully well and my radical pro nigerian stance. F7dk you again, for thinking you deserve anything better than an insult for thinking less of yourself and country. MikeCZAR: Conditions on the ground.
Remember it isn't about religion. its about the price of salted pork? Its about religion, and although we have a political aspect to it, lets not forget that Islam as a religion have always being about power. The jihadists before now have fought for power with the same excuse that they fight a holy war, what they are fighting for in Nigeria is not different from what their leader (mohammed) fought for in the early days of Islam. The presidential candidate of the APC( general buhari ) have stated clearly that he is committed to the total islamization of Nigeria. I mean how hard could that be. Muslims want to see more Muslims in power, Muslims want to wake up in the morning to hear that a nuclear bomb fell on Israel and then the Vatican city. I fear Muslims because they are very unpredictable and all over the world they have carved for themselves a very shameful conception about themselves. Mohammed have created a religion that cannot work in a world like ours, we cannot live with Muslims, why? Because they don't care about waking up to stab you in your sleep just because they think you may have being the one that mistakenly dropped coffee on their Koran and the problem is, they won't tell you about it during the day so you could apologise, no they won't they will still remain nice to you while hiding that wicked intent of theirs in their dark Islamic heart waiting for the right time, they may even buy your child candy in the day and pretend everything is cool. I do not like the Islamic religion. I hate it and i despise it. I just hope the Islamic General does not win the February polls cus this " harmless" friendly little post of mine could earn me my death under his government. But it should be noted that there are good Muslims, but this good Muslims are the ones that do not follow through to the doctrines of the Koran, because they realizes just how dangerous it is to the society, this set of "good" Muslims are often called out by the bad radical ones as "pagans". |

That's why those kind of vehicles are heavily armed, so that soldiers can hit really hard and fast. soldiers on patrol are easily ambushed in the NE, that vehicle will guarantee their death.
