The Igirigi is still been Produced. The Igirigi is primarily an Armed forces vehicle, and as we are all aware, we currently have an insatiable apetite for LAV's. However, Osun state government recently purchased a number of Igirigi APC's for their Police force.

Igirigi APC just out of the production line.

Igirigi in the field.

As you can see, production is on-going. The fact we don't see statements from the army shouldn't translate to the military is idle.
thats really good to know.

How many aircrafts do the chadians have ? If my memory serves me well then the chadians have less than five military aircrafts. How many pilots do the chadians have ? The answer is 0. The people piloting their aircrafts are mercenaries, hired guns, the kind who will kindly resign if the had to fight other fighter jets and that is because they are not soldiers, they are business men trying to make a lot of money. And the last time I cheked the f7 was still a verry good aircraft. That coupled with the number of jets Nigeria poseses and also the number of pilots and air defense systems and aslo ground forces. And as well the fact that Nigerian military personnel are verry experienced and well trained and patriotic.
the f7 is a good jet, no doubt. the chadian army is small and depends on light equipment and transport, no doubt. they depend on paid foreign pilots, no doubt. but in real conflict situation things do change. a french supported and sponsored Chadian armed force was able to decimate the Libyan army. despite her 3000 tanks and airpower ( which was one of the best in africa as at that time). A captured Libyan C130 is still in service in the Chadian airforce till today.

Noyice that it is not a tank and does not play the same role, it is not even that solid, who is giving you all these verry wrong advices ?
nobody said it was a tank. yes it does play some of the roles of our T72's armed with anti tank missiles
NighttWalker:
You seriously wanna replace our T-72s with this?
no the tanks are still needed in the fight. just that this vehicle will give our men a quicker, stealthier and maneuverable force projection advantage. you know one of the greatest disadvantage of tanks in COIN war is its speed and maneuverability. one of this armed with the Nimrod ATGM could start striking BH columns from 30km.

Oh really? Is that why then the first EVER electric street light in the southern hemisphere, let alone Africa, was in Kimberly South Africa in 1882? Is that why?
bros. calm down. he was wrong about the tree part, but as for dwelling in caves, the bushmen built their dwelling place with dry grass during the dry season and lived in caves during the rainy season. do you know what this means for you Mr DieVluit, it means your ancestors were cave men. incapable of basic civil survival skills.
Now please dont go fooling around with history when i am around.
this is the truth. diamond was discovered in KIMBERLY in 1867, i am sure those of you following my post must have read about the various racist labour acts that prevented blacks from working in the diamond mines as labourers. during this period when diamond was discovered kimberly white investors and mining companies flooded the small (boer dominated) mining town of kimberly. this lead to an industrial revolution, streetlights were built and railway transportation was introduced. but Kimberly was a no go area for the Blacks of South Africa. not even the slaves were allowed to stay in Kimberly. kimberly was a city for the whites only. it was not for people like DieVluit or his senile ancestors.

Our boys are kicking the a55 of those virgin seekers in every of their hideouts in Nigeria and more recently across the nigerian border. A single terrorist killed is a victory attained. And this victory must be achieved by the force of arms.

Nigeria27:
do you really think that if chad was to shoot down a f7 that nigeria would just lie down and take it ? NO nigeria is stronger militarily in almost every aspect when compared to chad, nigeria's political influence although hurt by the insurgency and the media war is many times greater then that of chad, also keep in mind that my scenario was a violation of our air space (by france) chad being a member of the multi-national force can fly in our air space for the time being. but lets say chad and nigeria cut of their military agreement a Chadian incursion of our airspace will be intercepted by f7s be it a mig 29, su 30, f 22 whatever, because chad knows if they do commit offensive acts towards nigeria it will be met in kind.

F7 may not be the greatest fighter its what that f7 represents that makes it strong
nice one. I knew that already, just wanted to make sure you know what they will be facing.

Nigeria needs to check the french. any intrusion of our airspace should be handled politically if they continue we should use our f7's for what they where intended for, intercept them and force them to leave. (without causing an incident)

if we do this every time we can use this to our advantage on the media front by using words like (intrusion, violation, ) and we need to stress the fact that there is no military agreement to that capacity between the to countries.
you ll use your f7 to chase out a chadian MIG29? Or and SU30

How does that question CHANGE the fact that Chad entered Nigeria?

You have repeatedly failed to deny a simple fact and are talking about the price of cheese in China.
countless attempts by that young man to enlighten you have gone down the drain, in your own desperate effort to retain for yourself an atmosphere of delusion fraught with ignorance and every other factors that accounts for the ailing south African Educational system. It is very clear and simple. A multi national task force was formed to fight the Islamists. The mandate of this task force includes the pursuit of terrorists in their various hideouts across the border towns and villages of this countries. The insurgents have been fought on various fronts from Cameroon, Chad to Niger. What we re doing is exactly what any sane country would do under the same situation.

MikeCZAR:
The T-72 is the worst tank the Soviet Union ever produced.

BH is a Nigerian group which for years now has built its capabilities, with your military. claiming victory and progress.

The insurgent improved and expanded their force, for a semi-conventional warfare. A far cry from motorbike drive by attacks and other guerilla tactics.

Your military was caught drunk with its pants down, now neighbours are coming to your aid.
BH is a sub regional security threat. Every single nation in the anti terror coalition have been affected by boko haram, it would therefore be an act of the basest naiveity for anyone to confuse "a joint security effort to tackle a common threat" with a military intervention or aid. I am of the opinion that any nation at war needs all the help she can get from allies and neighbours, this are factors that have shaped the results of all the conflicts that humanity have seen. A nation that stands alone, falls alone.
With that said i will like you to read books like The peloponesian wars. Written by thucidides, and the Leviathan by Thomas hobbes. This will give you a better understanding on what states are and why they act the way they do.

A nation of foo..ls.

The T-72 is the worst tank the Soviet union has ever produced.

Besides you can't support them in a full blown war.

BH is not running yet, they're still mounting well coordinated open attacks, your military needs help. The Chadians are exactly that help.
a coalition have been formed against terror in west Africa, and this affected countries are engaging in a vigorous capacity building project, just to ensure that they stay relevant to the course. Now Mr Mike. I do not see any of this armed forces asking you for equipment procurement advice, and I also do not see any reason why you should consider yourself to be in the position to determine what this forces chose to use in prosecuting this war against terror. I can understand it, if you say the T72 is a bad tank bcus Nigeria has it(we re all aware of your strong anti Nigerian stance) but what I don't understand is you trying to advice all the generals in the frontline that they are demanding for the wrong weapons and that they shouldn't be using tanks or any equipment of their choice to prosecute this war. That is a very base thing to do.

May not be an operational base as it obvious but it could be a secured location for operations coordination albeit temporarily.
It could be some sort of rolling base.
so they are trying to attack Boko haram and they will be showing it off to everybody. dashing boko haram free intel. an attack helicopter moves from base, fulfil its mission and gets back to base. that to me does not look like its a base or its protected.

of course I know its not a base but certainly those helicopters are being utilized for the operation, and again you have to notice that there is a slight difference between the one hovering in the air and the one on the ground
they are both transport birds for therole they are playing.

I believe that they were at that point putting everything in place before heading to fight the insurgents or they just finished their assignment for the day and were dis-engaging
I believe you don't know what an attack helicopter is or how it operates. does that place look like an operational base to you. so while will they allow a vulnerable unarmed combat bird that cannot defend itself to fly into the frontline before arming it up.

I thought about that too but TIA(this is Africa).Oh well they could be using them (choppers) to drop barrel bombs.Kind of like how it is done in Syria.
no they are not dropping barrel bombs, the Syrian operational theatre is different from the one in Nigeria. BH columns are highly mobile, they don't just cluster in one place and wait for a barrel of bomb to fall from heaven.

Not exactly an attack helicopter like I had expected.
OP are you sure about those choppers being Hinds ?
MI -24s have almost similar airframe design with the super frelon(Sa-321) French.
I remember reading somewhere that Chad buys almost entirely French for its military .
so where did they get their SU35, SU24 and mig29 from? france? what about their technicals and attack helicopters. do you think Chad can afford to maintain European equipments and Airframes

I believe all fighter helicopters are not the same in terms of capabilities and so if they can utilize those very well in this fight I believe they can still achieve something good with them
open your eyes and look at the weapon Bay. can you see any weapon there. or where they throwing down stones on the terrorist.
PoliticsRe: Chadian Helicopters Used In Fighting Boko Haram Today (Photo) by overhypedsteve(m):

that bird did not fight any BOKO HARAM.it may have been used to supply troops, but as for fight, no. it did not fight. unless it landed on a Bokoharam militant and crushed him

I thought the chopper would have guns by the sides. Any way, i hope they should take over our fight.
