I know some may expect one to talk about a compendium of existential matters, but funnily enough, books like
great expectations,
animal farm,
David copperfield,
Oliver twist,
adventure of huckleberry Finn,
adventure of tom sawyer,
seemed to define me more than those instructive compendiums.

it was 6:00, the populace of this small town were just coming out of a month long siege placed on them by the endless rainfall, the usually muddy streets was lined with chains of pot holes now filled to the brim with mud water, and pedestrians device means to cross this "muddy water reservoirs" sometimes succeeding to get across untouched and sometimes ending up in the brown mess. As the soft sun rays pierce through the foliage of the tall palm trees, a gentle comforting breeze gracefully swayed their feminine structure,The sound of a chainsaw could be heard blaring in the distance prosecuting the fall of an aged tree, the rude PA system of a distant evangelist could be easily heard, promising damnation on all sinners as village weavers birds tweeted out complaints as they weave their new found colony to shape atop the tall coconut tree (now stripped off its leaves by the offending birds) in front of the odionwere's compound, old men in groups of three and four sat under the shades of the ogbolo trees (bushmango) enjoying the potent content of their palmwine guards watching the futile efforts by passersby to go through the muddy streets unstained, they commented on every single person that walked past their "retirement territory" sometimes complaining about the tone on which a certain passerby acknowledged them or the dress style of the "omoge" generation.
As the sun sinks lower in the distant horizon the first batch of bats dotted the sky as they flapped to their various destinations, the cricket was already calling its partner and the chainsaw blaring in the distance came to a slurred stop. After which a loud crack was heard in the distance, the job was done, the last standing ancient palm tree of this rainforest community just kissed the ground.

Sometimes i look at my country and cry. So whilst other country are foreseeing threats and making procurements, we sat with boro haram until they started claiming territory. This is our foolishness, this is the foolishness of one third of Africa (nigeria's population ) this is the foolishness that keeps this giant dwarfed. Ask Uganda if they are fighting a war that they have 6 su30 frogfoots, and yet we still hear of the executive air fleets being stocked with expensive jets all the time. The airforce still have more assets for vip transport than for operations. We live in a very very .... Country
