A Lagos state High Court sitting in IKeja, on
Tuesday sentenced one Mr. Benjamin Bright to
63 years imprisonment for allegedly duping
over 40 Nigerians to the tune of N4.9m.
Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of the Lagos High
Court passed the sentence after Bright pleaded
guilty.
The convict was charged to court by the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC) following over 50 different petitions filed
against him by members of the public.
Bright was sentenced to three years
imprisonment on each of the 21-count charge
preferred against him by the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The
sentence will run concurrently for three years.
The persecutor, Mr. Emmanuel Jackson said
the accused achieved this through an attractive
investment scheme he lunched and advertised
in a magazine in 2008.
