Police have captured one of South America's biggest cocaine kingpins, Luiz Carlos da Rocha, Brazilian authorities announced on Saturday. Nicknamed White Head, da Rocha evaded capture for 30 years, even undergoing surgery to alter his face, all while running his international drug production and smuggling business, police said. His alleged cocaine network included production labs in the jungles of Bolivia, Colombia and Peru, and continued through to distribution on the continent as well as to the US and Europe. Police said Da Rocha was also one of the main domestic cocaine suppliers to the violent drug traffickers that control large areas of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Small planes would carry his cocaine from the jungle labs to remote farms in western Brazil via Venezuelan airspace, police said. From there, they said it would be carried in secret compartments in specially adapted trucks to Brazil's big cities or for shipment abroad. 'Legend of drug trafficking' "He is a legend of drug trafficking. I have been in the Federal Police for 32 years and since entering I spoke of the White Head," Rosalvo Ferreira Franco, regional superintendent of the federal police, was quoted as saying by national daily Folha de Sao Paulo. "He was the number one trafficker, one of our most-wanted. He had more importance and influence than [North Valley Cartel leader Juan Carlos Ramirez] Abadia or [Red Command leader] Fernandinho Beira-Mar. There was no one above him for us," Elvis Secco, who commanded the operation, was quoted as saying by the paper. "He led a normal social life, he was not worried about being arrested, he knew he would not be recognized - he looked about 20 years younger," Secco was quoted as saying, referring to da Rocha's face-altering surgery. Local journalists shared images online that showed his transformation. Brazil is one of the biggest cocaine markets in the world, both in domestic usage and in export. In 2014, national daily O Globo conducted a six-month investigation into the biggest players in the Brazilian cocaine business and found da Rocha was the most important, bringing several tons of cocaine into the country each month. $100 million fortune Da Rocha has allegedly amassed $100 million (88 million euros) in personal wealth in the form of vehicles, property and deposits in offshore bank accounts, which authorities said "will be the subject of the second phase of Operation Spectrum." His alleged right-hand man was also captured separately during the operation in which police said 150 agents carried out 24 raids and seized about $10 million worth of luxury cars, aircraft, farms and other property. In one house, police found $2 million in cash in suitcases. When narcotics police homed in on their suspect in Mato Grosso, agents studied "photographic data with the old facial characteristics of Luiz Carlos da Rocha and the current identity photograph of Vitor Luiz de Moraes, and concluded that Luiz Carlos da Rocha and Vitor Luiz are the same person." While ruthless drug dealers are a highly visible presence in Brazil's favelas, lucrative wholesale businesses are largely hidden. Da Rocha faces more than 50 years in jail for various crimes.

Some people deal fantastically with disappointment, moving on stoically despite a less than desired outcome. Some people, like this guy- not so much. An applicant for a visa at the Italian embassy in Accra got frustrated after his application was denied, and tried to blow up the building in retaliation, leading to his arrest. The frustrated man reportedly showed up with a gas cylinder and a lighter to blow the place up, demonstrating that even when it comes to terrorism, our methods are subpar. Police luckily arrived to defuse the situation, and arrested the alleged bomber. He was reportedly infuriated because he was refused a visa and got into a misunderstanding with officials at the site. “We understand he had a misunderstanding with the Embassy officials. When we came here earlier after the stone-throwing reports, he had left, only for him to return with gas and fire to attempt to carry out his threat”, Superintendent Raymond Aggrey Fynn, Head of the Counter Terrorism Unit of the Police Service, told the assembled media. The incident occurred Friday, and the man is in custody helping with investigations.

A total of 38 foreigners from various countries have naturalised as Ghanaians effective Wednesday. The 38, who are from Britain, Lebanon, the United States, Spain and other African countries, were each issued with a certificate of naturalisation by the Accra High Court on Wednesday. This was after they had taken the oath of allegiance to Ghana at the High Court, having satisfied all the legal requirements. This means they have now truly become full Ghanaians. They can now apply for a Ghanaian passport and register to become a voter to be able to vote in all elections in the country, Deputy Interior Minister James Agalga told TV3 Online. “What we usually look out for is that, and of course, that is the requirement of the law; you should be able to demonstrate that you are somebody who is capable of contributing your quota to the development of Ghana,” he said. He said authorities also investigated the background of all the people to ensure they had no criminal record, adding they also considered the extent to which they have all assimilated into the Ghanaian culture. “What it means is that if you take the oath of allegiance you truly become Ghanaian. The essence of taking that oath simply means that from now onwards they’re Ghanaians and are prepared to act as such and defend the territorial integrity of Ghana, to preserved and to protect our constitution,” Mr. Agalga said

For months, she dreamed of nothing but her perfect wedding. And Thulisile Maphosa thought for it to be perfect, it had to be unique. She decided being different was the way to go. On Saturday, the 27-year-old’s dream came true. Residents from Temba, north of Tshwane, South Africa, watched in awe as Thulisile and her husband Lucky Majadibodu (30) and followers took to the streets in tractors! Thulisile and Lucky literally rose above the rest in their special bridal car – a backhoe loader. The bridesmaids and groomsmen followed slowly behind on tractors. “Wow, this is so amazing and so creative. Some people can think,” said one resident. The happy bride said it was her dream to have a wedding that was special. “I wanted to do something different which would be remembered years after the wedding. “When I first told my husband about my tractor idea he just laughed at me. He actually thought I was joking.” “He wanted us to rent fancy cars but I didn’t want that. I told our families this was my big day and I wanted to celebrate it in my own style,” said Thulisile. Lucky said he never thought his wife would go through with the idea. “I thought she wasn’t serious. I have never seen a wedding with the bride and groom driven in such vehicles. “I thought we would be a laughing stock but it turned out to be such a success. I’m happy that everything went according to plan and that she had the wedding of her dreams.” The bride’s mum, Baby Maphosa, said she had been saving for years to pay for a fancy wedding car for her daughter. “When she told me about her idea I was floored. I still booked the limousines, thinking she would change her mind. “But I’m happy for her,” she said.

Two hundred and four bags of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp have been found in several houses at Apeisika, a farming community in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region of Ghana. According to the Nkawkaw Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Joseph Osafo Peprah, when the Police got to the community at dawn last Friday, “we found 204 bags of the substances after just about two hours of searching through community.” The Nkawkaw Divisional Police will today [Tuesday] arraign eleven farmers including five women for the possession of the dried leaves at the Mpraeso Circuit Court in the Eastern Region. The eleven are part of about seventeen suspects who were apprehended at Apeisika, a farming community in the Kwahu East District for possessing the substances believed to be Indian hemp locally known as “wee”. The suspects include five females and six males. Chief Superintendent Joseph Osafo Peprah explained that the two hundred and four bags of the substances were found in about twenty one households after the police embarked on a dawn swoop last Friday following a tip off. He added that because the substances were a lot, the Kia truck which transported them to Nkawkaw had to do two separate trips. Supt. Peprah indicated that, “As part of our preparations towards the Easter celebration which will bring many people into Kwahu and its environs, the police has started embarking on swoops and our intelligence led us to activities of a farming community called Apeisika,”. The farmers are believed to have cultivated the substances themselves and stocked them for onward distribution across the country. “The people are farmers and not business men, so they were just stocking the substances and expect buyers from other parts of the country” Supt. Peprah explained. The police are yet to locate the farms where the substances were cultivated. The Kwahu Mountains is a favourite location for the Easter celebration.

It’s insane that a customer would think that the best way to handle a bad hair cut is to end the life of her barber—the person responsible for the cut. And she is a woman, which makes it even more worrying. A woman in California who was unhappy with her haircut dished out by her barber returned to the San Diego salon and tried to shoot her barber, but he escaped unharmed when her gun jammed, police say. “Barber Manny Montero said customer Adrian Blanchce Swain, 29, left 619 Barber Shop happy, having paid for her $20 haircut and leaving another $20 tip,” MailOnline reports. A few hours later after the haircut, Adrian returned to complain about the hair cut—and tried shooting him 3 times. The barber is alive today because all these 3 times, the gun didn’t fire. After it became obvious that the woman was on a killing mission, Manny Montero and another barber managed to pin her down, until law enforcement officers arrived at the scene. That’s pretty scary…but another Barber from the same salon-Joe Cooper, thinks the customer was “probably just having a bad day.” “It was more mental with her. But the haircut, it’s a very stylish haircut though,” Cooper said. The hair cut was kind of the Rihanna hair cut which the Cooper says it was easy to do and was done well for Adrian Blanchce Swain.
