temmytanny: MY POE EXPERIENCE...

At the MMA1, it was business as usual. We checked in as usual but was stopped when they discovered our luggage(3 pieces) were weighing about 107kg,though less than the required but should have been in 23kg per piece. We had to buy AMERICA MUST COME bags(GHANA MUST GO bags) and divide them into 5.After which we proceeded to the immigration section for checks,as you know now,we parted with 1k cos we are DV winners. see as them they prayer for us as if say them be pastors. That was what made me give the money so that they wont think other wise after the prayers.
Our flight was delayed by 30mins but wen we got on board,it was smooth 7hours trip from lagos to Dubai. lots to eat and drink, lots of movies to watch, access to make calls to anywhere in the world at $5 per minute, access to latest news from BBC etc. Wen we got to Dubai,a bus came to pick us to another terminal.Dubai Airport is so BIG that he took us about 15mins to get to the transit point where we boarded another flight from Dubai to Dallas(16 hours trip). Our flight from Lagos was better than the Dubai - Dallas becos it was short and me and my wife sat where 3 passengers supposed to seat. That gave us enough opportunity to sleep as we liked. Dubai - dallas trip had lots of passengers and so no chances to seat anyhow and the distance made things worse for us.
We arrived Dallas early morning and made our way to the immigration. About 3 international flights came in at same time and that made clearing at immigration took longer time. About 300 non citizens on the queue and we eventually got attended to after 3hours. It was during the submission of passports and embassy envelop that they discovered our medicals had expired. I argued with the immigration guy and he showed me where it was written on our sealed document. We spent another 3.30 hours with the immigration guy. He seized our passport and requested we must go for another medical in Dallas before they can release them to us.

After all the brouhaha grin grin , he took us to emirate counter to get our other luggage but unfortunately, emirates had closed for the day. I left the airport fagged out and depressed witout our luggage,i got the luggage on sunday morning. if i had known that the medical wasnt for a year,i would have done it before coming over. My host said its going to be very expensive cos we have no medical insurance.

@all,na so he be oooo, your home is live and direct in US. I will only start my procesing once i get my passport back though they gave a card that we could use or present to any security just incase we have issues with them.
So please, dont rush to do your medicals if you arent coming to US immediately you get your visa. two weeks to your interview is okay.

Bro,am so happy for u n ur family. Welcome to God's own country, pls inbox me ur contact nos. Stay bless n my prayer is that those of us waiting for our interview will come out in fly colours IJN n for those waiting for 1st of Oct too the good Lord will surely put a smile on everybody's face IJN,amen.

The police report from Nigeria I heard is valid for 3 months (not sure). I have met with a few having their interview in Nigeria and had to go bring another police report because they did theirs too early. So the police report should be recent, I concur with Kemzone2003. If you are already in the UK, I suggest you fax the old one to family or friend in Nigeria to get a recent one if possible in Nigeria but if it will still be valid during interview, you have no issues.
Wish you success
Regards

@busayodot,i know it vaild for 3 months. Will get a current one from nigeria. thanks.

When the Applicant Needs a Police Certificate

is living in their country of nationality at their current residence for more than 6 months & is 16 years old or older
the police authorities of that locality.

lived in a different part of their country of nationality for more than 6 months & was 16 years or older at that time
the police authorities of that locality.

lived in a different country for more than 12 months & was 16 years or older at that time
the police authorities of that locality.

was arrested for any reason, regardless of how long they lived there & was any age at that time
the police authorities of that locality

If you live in 5 Countries ans stayed more residence there more than 12 months...you will need police report from all the countries...

Where is your place of interview, UK or Nigeria? if UK, then you'll have to get the police report from there and if Nigeria, you need to be cleared of criminal record in Nigeria.
Now my advice would be you get both if you will be interviewed in either of the countries since police report should be your police record since birth and you have lived in both countries for long periods.
House!! anyone think otherwise?

@busayodot,my place of interview is uk and thanks for ur advice.
@kemzone2003,thanks too.

Natives of the following European countries are not eligible for this year’s DV program: Great Britain (United Kingdom). Great Britain (United Kingdom) includes the following dependent areas: Anguilla, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Montserrat, Pitcairn, St. Helena, and Turks and Caicos Islands. Note that for purposes of the diversity program only, Northern Ireland is treated separately; Northern Ireland does qualify and is listed among the qualifying areas.

I am not a native of great britain, just living here legally so I am eligible qualify as a nigerian. Anyway, thanks for ur help.

None,I just got this from UK forum:

"The UK isn't allowed to enter the DV lottery. I assume you have roots to an allowed country which is where your interview will be scheduled."

Please find out how true it is and make necessary amendment. I know a guy who came down from dublin last year for his interview. Please verify ASAP.

But in the form 122,there was a place where they ask to put the nearest US embassy to where one is and I cnt put Nigeria there cos is not close to me here.

@brightmon,you are right but do u that some of the old BC dnt have the both parents name (father n mother of the applicant) on it. If u r born before 1979 in Lagos, just go n obtained ur BC @ the Lagos State Ministry of Health,Old Secretariat,Ikeja,Lagos. But if you r born after 1979 (1980 upward) in Lagos obtain ur CERTIFIED TRUE COPIES OF UR BC directly from the local government.

From the above i can say that those that r born outside Lagos state before 1979 can go to their State Ministry of Health n those after 1979 i.e 1980 to date can use NCP BC.
Travel / Re: DV 2013 Winners Meet Here by owobabaisabella: 4:18pm On Jul 27, 2012
Documents
Birth and Death Certificates
Generally available, particularly for events occurring after 1970. Registration of births and deaths is compulsory in Lagos. The National Population Commission issues birth certificates for births after 1992.

For Lagos records, certified copies of records for dates ending with 1979 can be obtained at the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Old Secretariat, Ikeja, Lagos. For records after 1979, contact the local government that issued the original certificate directly. Most births and deaths outside of Lagos are also registered at the time of the event. Applicants can obtain certified true copies of certificates directly from the local government. Alternatively, acceptable identity/parentage documents are infant baptismal certificates and hospital or maternity clinic records of birth. Home births are rare in Nigeria and medical records are available in most cases. Affidavits may be acceptable as substitutes for documents for those born outside Lagos prior to 1960 or born in the eastern part of Nigeria in the 1960's at the time of the Biafran War, when presented in combination with convincing secondary evidence of relationship.

The above information was from travel.state.gov, hope it will help those that are not sure about the BIRTH CERTIFICATE TO USE.

Hope you get the point.

Question is if you are legally leaving in London or not. If you are legally living in London then it is better to have your interview in London. Will save you a lot of money and the wahala that people go through interviewing in Africa.

Secondly if you have already filled and sent your forms to kcc, then it means that you already stated where you wanted to interview at on the forms. Question again is did you state which country you wanted to interview when filling the forms and sending to KCC.

If you applied as living in London and won the lotterry then you should have something like below on your 1 NL

Foreign State Chargeability: Nigeria
Post: London

Let know more . . . help us to help you.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

YES I HAVE ALL THIS AS YOU LISTED ABOVE IN MY 1NL.
