Alhamdulillah! Alhamdulillah!! Alhamdulillah!!! I have wanted to do this for a very long time but finally, I am blessed with enough time. Masha Allah. since I'm done with my last paper for the term I've decided to give back to this forum this way and any other way I can.
Please gear up for a long post.
2017 October 1st application 2017 December rejected Fanshawe college: PGD Human Resource Management the reason; purpose of visit and travel history used a travel agent in Nigeria.
2nd Application; May 2018 Lakehead University most of us know what happened to applications during this period. I had to wait for 1 year plus with enough fasting and prayers. lord knows I've never been that committed to my religion as I did during that period. At one point I almost withdrew my application but people of God like Frankrobbn1 and Naijaforeigner convinced me to hold on. Approvals kept coming in for fellow nairalanders but mine was in oblivion and I kept praying. So finally after the whole humbling and patience, God taught me:
I got my approval letter sometime around late august 2019 without medical request. I went nuts that night, just went out of the house and came back inside like 100 times. LOL. crazy memory. I'm laughing right now.
the next day I left home for lekki, immediately after the first crow just to avoid the traffic from Ikeja to lekki as its always very crazy. fast forward 14 days or so of normal waiting time, my passport didn't show up. another patience after all this while Ah!!! mogbe ooo!!! school resumes in days and yet passport is not showing up. my dad sent me on my way to lekki to go confirm and still the same thing seen on the online portal. temibami! who did I offend? Lol
So school resumed and everything was still the same, the passport wasn't showing up and I was going crazy at home. I already quit my job and just waiting to fly to my destination; Thunderbay. Already paid for a place to stay with another nairalander Collins, forgotten his moniker on nairaland. he is my brother from another mother now. collins left me in Naija and Japa to thunder bay and sent me a picture of my room and my head was swelling like garri. Lol. I almost entered depression and had to ask on this platform again if I could change my program and things like that.
After 2 weeks of resumption, my passport finally came back and booked a ticket immediately. omo ticket wasn't joking that period oo, paid lots to fly. left Naija Sept 20th and got to maple land; landed Toronto and I was dreading like what if I was asked why I came late and told to go back. I cant deffer because I did once already. so many questions playing on my mind and I couldn't answer all.
It got to my turn and I was summoned by a female vo vo: hello, me: hi vo: can I have your study permit and passport, please me: tendered it with a huge smile on my face vo: so why did you arrive this late me: I got my passport back really late and came as fast as I could immediately I got it vo: okay. so it's written in your letter of offer that you have a pre-requisite in mathematics. are you very good at maths because if you don't pass your pre-requisite by the end of the first term, you'll be removed from Canada me: I understand vo: who is your sponsor me: my dad vo: so he paid for your tuition and going to support your stay here in Canada? me: Yes mam vo: good, let me see your proof of funds me: passed it on to her with a smile and a tired look vo: awesome. goes to print my study permit. came back and told me she won't be including the option to work because I have to focus on my studies first before anything else me: I totally understand vo: welcome to Canada me: thank youuuuuuuuuuu
so that was it o, I had a connecting flight to thunder bay and had met a 9ja guy from frankfurt airport, so we just chilled together at the lounge changed a few bucks for a taxi, exchanged numbers and off we went on our ways to Winnipeg and thunder bay. landed around 12 am in thunder bay and had to wait outside in that cold for like 20mins because I had no internet or line to contact that I'm by the door. although I informed him I was at the airport and taking a taxi already. before collins, came to open door. yeh! what is this. who send me come! cold scatter my brain. all that swagger jacket from Naija was like foam, I was already shaking. finally, baba come open door, I run enter see my guy for the first time, hail am Naija way, the Indians for the house dey look us like we be twins, funny that's another story. na so I go crash, baba go continue to study, that time I never understand wetin Canadian education be like.
so fast forward; I went to Lakehead on Monday to report myself present and ready for the studying but he no work. I had resumed too late, one of the professor been one give me chance to catch up 3 weeks in one night, he was like '' okay i will attach you to someone but first go read chapter 3,7, 5 and 2 then come tomorrow for classes so I can introduce you to your partner''. I remembered that feeling really well that day: feeling of wasting 4 years in the Naija education system, they tried but it wasn't as deep as what I was seeing in that textbook. so I decided not to continue with it because I didn't come to Canada just for coming sake and burn 21k cad for fun, so I contacted my agent who is a certified consultant by CIC and she gave me all the info I needed and decided to change to the University of Manitoba for Human Resource Management. To cut the long story short, I sat down for 3 months mostly playing Fifa. my Indian friends for house come even bring me one video for youtube make I watch '' smoke shisha play Fifa'' because I played too much Fifa. something wey dem no born me well to try when I resumed school. I finally resumed in January and now done with the first term.
P.S: this is not to talk down on anyone, but please if you know you aren't the type that studies or can sit on his or her own and pass please look for another country to go or better still express entry. if you are an average student trust me you'll catch up because of the teaching style and the Naija spirit wey no dey carry last. please consider your option carefully as schooling in Canada is extremely stressful. i am giving this info so you can know what you are coming into. the devil will not use us to burn thousands of dollars o. copyright is real here, plagiarism is real here. get caught; get expelled. ILEYA NI YEN O.
That's my own story people and I want to give special thanks to Jnyuwa02, Frankrobbn1, and Naijaforeigner for the support they have been giving on this platform. he no easy. I doff my cap to yall.
I can't write everything but I wrote what I remembered. as time goes ill keep updating you guys. My current view Much Love From Winnipeg

Naijaforeigner: Yes you can change it even while in Nigeria but make sure when changing school From Nigeria, you change to the same program.
The reason for this is at the POE, you may be asked why you changed school. If you changed school and it is to a different program, you might have problems justifying the change of program but if it is the same program, the Immigration officer will understand that you could not wait till September and you had to Change school.
Please note, immediately you get a new offer from another school, you must notify CIC immediately via your online portal. All the best. I already deffered once and I'll av to reapply again without guarantee of admission. Which is why I'm taking this approach. |

Finally got my visa but a bit late to resume school. No January intake for my course which means next year September is the next intake. Frankrobbn1 you once told me it's possible to change school once you get to canada, is it possible to change it right here in Nigeria so I can find a school with January intake. |

I posted this for someone out there who fills all hope is lost. Delay does not mean denial. Believe totally in God no matter what. Don't give up. Also try to have contingency plans to avoid disappointments. Don't place all your eggs in one basket.
I started this journey in 2017, paused for 2 years. And resumed again this year.
Don't expect anybody to give you loads of information. Everything you need is on this thread.
I read this thread from Part 13 - Part 16 back to back before I began my application. Also, I didn't ask any questions until about 4 days to when I was about to submit my application.
Special kudos goes to Frankrobbn1. Truely you are a God sent to this thread. Anyone who comes across you can attest to that. May God bless you bountifully!!!
I thought my application was tight until he vetted it. I was confounded and shocked when he said I was missing a plethora of things in my application. Frank literally opened my eyes that day. So I made the corrections he pointed out but I didn't get any confirmation from him whether my corrections were okay and I needed to submit my application.
So I PRAYED, PRAYED, PRAYED and submitted with faith in God
And now I can say my application was a success.
All thanks to all the gurus in the house who has inspired me and continue to render selfless service to people in this thread. Furthermore, my appreciation goes to the originator of this thread. It's indeed a blessing to have such thread like this.
Not to mention Big name like Austacus. You have done alot for me. God bless you bro!
I wish you all success in your applications. Congratulations my friend. We'll meet in Thunderbay soon. |

Frankrobbn1: Yes you can change over to any course or institution in Canada after a Study Permit has been issued provided that you've received an official acceptance letter from the college you're intending to transfer to in Canada. However, you need to inform IRCC about this change via your MyCIC Account through this medium https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/change-schools/account.html and also proof that you've officially withdrawn from the University. That being said, you don't need to apply for a fresh study permit. Thanks for this info. Really appreciate it. |

Frankrobbn1: I will advice you leave the application for a while let's say a week or two prior to requesting for a withdrawal. It might interest you to know that a fellow june applicant on this reputable platform messaged me not quite long that his 8 months application has been approved. I believe he should be here soon to share his success story. With the look of things, I think there is big hope for the June applicants. Brace up and keep faith alive. By the way, have you ordered for your Gcms notes during the waiting period? I only sent a mail to the London office and got the generic message. I haven't ordered for Gcms notes yet. |

Hello house, I have mostly been a silent reader on this thread. Applied June 2018, biometrics July 2018. Right now I'm tired of the wait and I'll like to withdraw.
My question, how long does it take to withdraw an application. I need to get a refund from my sch and apply to another country for my masters. Thanks for the replies. |

I was just about to submit my application then i decided to check here for comments and i saw kemdy's, i rushed to search for my dad's too.
Please what if i submit his updated tax clearance and leave out the cac outdated registration, i feel is beta to not submit what I cannot proof anymore. Are there applicants that get approved with tax clearance and no business registration? Cos i think people can pay personal income tax without being registered with cac ryt? There are many people who doing trade that earn good money without being registered under cac, moreso, he has paid my full tuition and sent in living expenses. Please advice me, i want to get this right..thanks Hey, I was having the same issue too until I followed Wealth360's instructions. It appeared there was a misspelling of my dad's company name on there website. I typed just the first word and it brought out all the company having similar name to my dad's. Phocusjosh: I applied online and I didn't use up to an hour at VFS Lagos for my biometrics. When exactly did you apply please. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Owoch: 2:53pm On May 25, 2018 |
jnyuwa02: If you did biometrics in Abuja, you have to submit passport in Abuja. You can ask Abuja VFS to courier your passport back to you in Lagos when a decision is out without coming back to Abuja. I am not entirely sure though if you win, they still will courier the passport to you with the live visa. Even if they want you to come in person to Abuja if a visa is approved, it be worthwhile journey. Chat a VFS staff up live on their website, they will answer any questions you have. Best of luck!!
Ps: hope you know you can file your application online from the comforts of your room without going anywhere. Yes, I am applying online but I want to go for my biometrics in Abuja because of the information going around on Lagos vfs. With what u've said concerning going back to Abuja to submit my passport when the time comes, it's best to fight it here in Lagos. Thanks for your response. I appreciate. |

Still trying to wrap my head around how this works. If I happen to do my biometrics at Abuja vfs, can I go to Lagos vfs to submit my passport when the time comes or it has to be Abuja. |
