Indeed this is the fall of a gaint, but i rather call it "The short history, of a tall Gaint" As a matter of fact,it was inevitable, Transcorp was born to fail, why? 1. It was conceived by an individual, who thinks he knows all. 2. Heavily politicised 3. Those that constituted the Board of Directors, where strange bed fellows, with no stake in the company, rather they were just icing on the cake, to make transcorp attractive to the unsuspecting members of the public . Well, it is rather sad that some investors were caught in this bad businees, but that is business for u, u don'

Desire is the stranger you think you knowu.t win all the time. |
Hello Narialanders, The series of Private Placement, being carried out by most companies, this day calls for serious attention,by the relevant authorities in the capital market. Though it is true, that Private Placement,is not regulated by any standard or authority, rather it is more of a private contract btw the offerer[company] and the offeree[subscriber]. However the abuse of this privilege,by some companies,is really unethical and discouraging, hence i think an act should be included in the law regulating the capital market, to provide a mandatory period within which such Private Placement should be concluded and subsequently be listed on the flour of the Nigerina Stock Exchange.

IN THE CAPITAL MARKET,I HAVE LEARNT,TO BE A LITTLE GREEDY WHEN OTHER INVESTORS ARE CAUTIOUS,AND BE A LITTLE FEARFUL WHEN OTHERS ARE GREEDY. |
Hello everyone, This is a very interesting topic, for this forum, and i think it is high time we youth become actively involved in the activities of the capital market, and to avail ourselves wit the abundant opportunities available in the market. Haven said that, let me just shed more light on the followings:- ![]() 1. PAT: Profit After Tax, Which is the total profit made by a company, minus tax, preference dividend, and extra ordinary items, divided by the total number of shares of the company. [i.e PAT= total profit- (tax, preference dividend and extra ordinary items/ Total number of shares] ![]() 2. EPS: Earnings Per Share, This is the value accrued to each unit/share of a company, from it's PAT, at the end of it's financial year, or on quaterly basis.[EPS= PAT/ Total Number of Shares] ![]() 3. PE. Ratio, This is a ratio use in measuring how soon an investor can recoup his/her initial investment in a particular stock, which is current mkt price divided by the stock EPS.[PE.Ratio=Current Mkt Price/EPS]. And this brings us to the issue of a stock being over and under value. ![]() A Stock which is regarded as being over value, is one with a higher PE. Ratio, which according to the books or a growth investor is good to invest in, because investment in them will b recouped earli enough, because investors are willing to stake their monies wit such stock, irrespective of the current mktb price. Another name for an over valued stock is GROWTH STOCK. ![]() A Stock is regarded to b under valued, when it's PE.Ratio is on the low side, and they are also called VALUE STOCK, by value investors, these are investors that peruse the mkt, to select stocks with sound fundamentals, but which have been bypass by the mkt mad rush, after blue chip stocks. ![]() I THINK I VE BEEN OF HELP TO SOMEBODY OUT THERE!!! ![]() |
[font=Lucida Sans Unicode]What this credit collapse has done, so tragically, is trigger one of the biggest stock declines in market history… increase borrowing costs… shrink profit margins… panic investors… and raise fear of global economic collapse. In an economy where easy money and low interest rates have been the driving force behind the wealth boom of the past five years, the repercussions are going to be quite dramatic. Not just here in the U.S., but in all four corners of the Earth. The reality is beginnig to dawn on the US economy, and those tied to it directly. |
Is the United State Of America, slipping into recession, with the tight credit crunch, increase in unemployment and cutting down on consumption. Then what will be the faith of economies tied directly to the US economies, because when the US economy sneezes, about 80% of the global economies catches cold. |
Hello nairalanders, Need your opinions, which, is more of a professional career, being a Stockbroker or a Banker. For me i think stockbroking, is more of a professional career, compare to banking, like it is, in develop countries. Please don't take the salary package into consideration, but the technicalities involve, in this case not in the Nigeria context. Thanks. |
Hello every one,Americans are at a cross road, electing yet another repulican or voting for Obama, should he emerge the Democrats candidate, which makes him the first ever black american to be USA president. Well lets, wait and see how the whole senario unfolds. |
Well before investing, in shares, you have to define what your motives are, i.e precautionary or speculative. Hence, if you are investing base on precautionary motive, then you have to look for stocks, with good dividend pay out,and script bonus issues history, while if you are the speculative investor, you should always invest in stocks with good fundamentals, and make sure you balance your portfolio with growth and value stocks. Will be back, takia everyone. |
Yeah, thats the kind of news the market, is definitely gonna react to. Lets wait and see! |
