Even in Nigeria, same is done, you see people discouraging others to move to Lagos or Abuja, claiming life is difficult that they also want out

You're right, majority forge at least one or two papers to get a visa., and then return to church to give testimony to God

grin

We have redefined corruption as "smartness". You're only being smart by forging bank statement or employer letter.. That's not corruption according to a Nigerian dictionary.

Its really a sad thing what our politicians have turned the country to. I can't imagine the so called "expatriates" forging some papers and testifying in church just to fly to Naija. Lol

@OP, I believe some are wired to survive and excel in foreign lands.. I also believe some persons are meant to stay back. Everyone should find a way to identify their purpose, howbeit legally, without necessarily being a burden to people.
Guy US government officials also forge document, even General Flynn is under investigation on this matter. No be only naija corrupt, na our looting political class spoiled our name, and made us also spoil our names by ourselves

Anybody is free to travel abroad as long as they are travelling with valid documents and for good intentions. When my company sends me on training abroad, I stay in the finest hotels and I try to catch up with friends abroad, what I have noticed is that out of 10 friends I meet perhaps only one is measuring up. The rest are struggling. Some go to work by 2am in the morning and come back by 3pm, some do two different jobs to be able to cope with house rent, and other bills that keep coming and never ending, some don't sit down throughout at their work place, they stand all through, some cannot go out to have a chilled beer and correct point and kill pepper soup. Their routine is work, sleep whenever possible, eat and church whenever their schedule permits. Some cannot return home on holidays because they dont have valid documents thats why you see some 20 years they have not seen home, those that have paper nko they can only come home once during their vacation which is usually like 2 weeks max, 'dem no born them well to stay beyond two weeks' else they are fired and before that time they will be waiting for sales period so they can buy things cheap to come and display here.

Some the work they do over there, they will never try it in Nigeria and yet they are graduates. Honestly, the life of most diasporia people is better described as glorified slavery regardless they have their permanent papers.
When we go out clubbing I end up taking up the entire bill and I am like you guys have the hard currency why should I pay but they tell me it ain't easy to come by. To crown it all the conditions some of them work is very uncomfortable, some work in below -20F temperatures, some tender old sick people with highly contagious disease, some drive UBER, some are into credit card fraud and other crimes. The few that are working in the banks or other high brow offices go through discreet racist treatment yet they cannot complain. All these things comes back to haunt them in their old ages.

So the truth be told, if and only if our leaders can make Nigeria better believe you me no Nigerian will ever prefer to stay in that cold and unacceptable treatment they tolerate.
We have the best weather, we have the best mineral resources, we have the best inland water ways. WHY WHY WHY cant we develop these things. Build a network of interconnected rail line across the country, obey laws, love the country above self, kill corruption and make the laws work irrespective of person, class or position. Provide 24 hours electricity and provide round the clock security that works, build good roads and develop infrastructures, keep our environment clean these are the things the diaspora people enjoy minus that I cant point to anything they have we don't have.

So if you have a good job here, please my sister think twice before you go there to live, of course you can travel to any country to have a good holiday and return back. No place like Naija believe me, forget about the criminals with no good intentions holding on to power thereby destroying our country and mortgaging our future. Some day someone will arise to clean the Augean stables.
We have a rich culture, why dont you ask why some of them prefer to send their kids home for good training and some when they want to marry they think home.

Our leaders are our problem and not our country, our country is blessed with the best weather, good arable land, many culture, deep belief in God and above all a hard working human resource. Our problem are the leaders who destroy this country and when they travel you see them queue up to board planes and even board trains, you see them obey traffic light and queue up at shopping malls to pay.
They are wicked, they are the enemies of this great country, they must be stoned to death anywhere they are found.
Please, an Oscar for this man.

I have clapped for you.

Valid points, good insight.

You just concluded all arguments and lamentations behind this topic.

Thank you for this.

Then this your (caliber of) friends are not whom this thread (OP) is counselling for.

The people in question here are the hand-to-mouth (though able bodied) folks, who would happily go through what you over there think is "hell" mainly because they are simply after "earning a living" while your (the diasporas) own ideology of a career is already obfuscated by the natural trappings of wealth, after living in the west for a while

An hungry man is asking you for a loaf of bread to sustain his soul and you went on ranting about the absence of cheese, jam, butter or coffee for him to gulp it down.

Does that makes sensehuh
Wow, lol

My take on this issue.
Most Nigerians think Coming abroad is the end to their problems and frustrations, so we just simply point out the facts, that's not discouragement.
And yes, there are lots of bills to pay, in Nigeria you can do without paying most of the bills, credit card not in the West.

Secondly, most Nigerians aspiring to come don't have a clear immigration plan, no legitimate plan set, the just want to cross and and FIND THEIR WAY (we all know what that means, mostly Illegal activities) , I also advise against this mentality.

What makes some of us look a bit rich when we come to Nigeria, is the FOREX EXCHANGE, with $6000 saved up, when we change the money to Naira, money go full everywhere.
This same $6000 can't even pay for a good decent apartment in NY for a year.. But it can pay for 3-5 years rent in Lekki, Ikoyi, Asukoro in Nigeria.

Now a case study.
The messed up Naira, really Makes Nigerians in diaspora look so successful. Especially if the Nigerian is very conscious in his/her saving and remittance of money to Nigeria.
You could be earning 18 dollars per hour/30-40 hours a week. 18*30= 540.
540 dollars is over 150k in Naira.
How many Nigerians earn the 150k per month, not to talk about per week.
True talk.

hmmm well known....I hear...I will still both German n serie a are still one of the best league in the world....and they are also doing great in EUROPE compared to EPL clubs besides anyone can google those names u mentioned
I swear to God and on my father's grave, i wrotr it off hand.

I agree with you, but The top teams in La liga, German and Serie A are the one championing the league. Madrids (A & R), Barca. Bayern Munich, Dortmund. Juventus, Napoli, Roma.

But you know what? England is a mediocre but a fücking competitive league that get all the teams in the division involved. And the media coverage is madt. Payet played for a lowly West ham team and was selected among the best 23 players in the world. Do you Payet had been the highest assist provider in the past five years before he came to England? With that he couldn't even get into French NT, but on getting to a small club in England he was exposed to the world and everyone knew him.

Sign for a small club in England and you will definitely get media coverage.

How many German bundesliga viewers can mention the first 11 of Leipzig because they are like the Leicester of Germany. But during run in of Leicester winning PL, most people can tell you their first 11 and even their manager's name.

Do you know the name of Leipzig? Who is their captain? Who is their top striker without googling?

That's the difference between PL and other leagues.

As much as i follow La liga i can't mention six players each from Osasuna, Leganes, Eibar.

As much as i follow Serie A i can't mention six players each from Fiorentina, Palermo, Genoa.

As much as i follow Bundesliga i can't mention six players each from Wolfsburg, Schalke, Freiburg.

This is so true. The fine houses and cars are even all mortgages and car finance, and that is even if your have a job that is atleast stable to an extent..and the person better pray not to lose his/her job. The good thing about Naija is that people with a good or okay job can still afford to pay cash down for the luxury of life and you dont have to worry about losing it all in an event of job loss...but overseas, na soso debt everywhere.

*still i will take the debt+access to excellent healthcare and good standard of living if one slugs it out compared to the bad healthcare system and low standard of living in naija*. May God help us all.

Nice one explorers

Container houses have been around for a while, not in Nigeria though, and I look forward to building something like this of my own

Although I will make it more spacey

Reasons why I like the concept are

1) You can "remove" the house eventually and relocate it to another plot of land

2) It is cheaper to build

3) It just looks different

4) There are lots of styles to choose from

5) Occupies less space

etc

Let me add some pics from some ideas I got online too
Its not cheap.

u're talking as if there are no small clubs also in the EPL...I will reiterate d same question to u?..can u mention 8 middlesbrough, burnley and westbrom
Middlesbrough- Victor Valdes, Ben Gibson, Fabio, Callum Chambers, De Roon, Adam Clayton, Negredo, Adama Traore.

Burnley- Tom Heaton, Ben Mee, Micheal Keane, Westwood, Tom Brady, Ashley Barnes, Sam Vokes, Defour,

West Brom- Ben Foster, Hal Robson Kanu, Darren Fletcher, Claudio Yacob, Rondon, Chris Brunt, Morrison and the recently signed Jake Livermore.

Your question ia too cheap because i even know England Championship teams more than other small teams in Europe top flight leagues.

And i don't hate La Liga, Serie A, German Busdesliga but you can't deny the fact that EPL still have the world wide TV presence, and so most of the players in EPL are well known.
