Politics › Re: Ask Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV) Any Question About His Lagos Governorship Bid by oyetpel(m): 4:30pm On Mar 09, 2023 |
Stevebuffet: In my opinion, GRV is a man with such humility that he will make a great leader. I had assumed he had just begun to get momentum as a result of PO, so when I saw that he had actually been conducting loads of interviews long before, I was absolutely floored. He exudes an air of sincerity, has clear beliefs, and cares deeply about others. Even with his extremely hectic schedule, you can tell that he had to join Nairaland just to answer questions and receive people's opinions. This kind of leader, one who seeks to understand the thoughts of his people and what they think of him in general, is perhaps the kind of leader that we all want. Not one that takes instruction from a ‘Big god’
He has made some unfortunate and controversial statements in the past I believe, but you would concur with me that the human mind changes. I can recall that I used to be quite tribalistic, but after a few years, I now believe I am the most detribalized person on the earth. Only an ignorant mentality is impervious to change.
The only thing about him that really impressed me was his intellectual prowess and his concept for a new Lagos. This person is compassionate, and to top it off, he will be accountable to the people rather than any godfather.
And I sincerely hope he doesn't deactivate his account after winning because real governance is about partnership with the people- the people in power does not know it all, not what we see in Nigeria, where one individual would be in the executive branch and give orders without consulting the populace. if individuals are the focus of the initiatives and policies. Why not actively involve the populace? I believe he made a good first impression by creating a Nairaland account, and I hope he keeps it up so that Lagosians like myself may provide him with feedback. I'm relieved to learn that this man is incredibly responsive and that he manages his own social media accounts. I'm not exactly a young person, but I believe GRV has what it takes to advance Lagos State. He has my whole trust!
GRV you have my vote! Bought account |

GRVLagos: I have been weighing my words carefully but people, I am a proud yoruba man, who comes from a family of indigenous Lagosians , and we can trace our history for 100s of years, and yes my mother is igbo, and I take no shame at all in that part of my heritage, my parents have been happily married for over 40 years. We have many great Nigerians of mixed heritage, the current governor of osun state also has an igbo mother and his yoruba heritage isn't called into question. I love being Yoruba.
There is no igbo takeover going on in Lagos, and it's a dangerous and unfair thing to insinuate, LP won lagos convincingly during the presidential elections, and all people of all tribes voted for LP , even winning apc strongholds like alimosho cause we all recognized the need for a better Nigeria, some powers that be know this and think the smartest way to hide their failures is to then make it tribal split, instead of focusing on policy and how the government can work to make the lives better of all Lagosians.
Now to explain my heart, I will admit sometimes some of my words look bad without a larger picture but I know my heart, the problem of making nigeria work for all Nigerians has been in my heart from time, Nigeria as is , is not working for the vast majority of people be it tribe, social class or religion https://thehopefulnigerian./2016/07/26/how-can-multi-ethnic-tension-be-managed-in-multi-ethnic-societies-like-nigeria/ here's a 2016 blog I wrote about it
I said it on multiple times on different platforms , that the detention and demonization of Sunday Adeyemo wasn't right and the government needs to address what led to him rallying our people to defend themselves, that while he isn't perfect his actions were a response to a bigger problem. Omoo, that your Afonja meme was not nice at all. As an integrity citizen, can you avail us your Nairaland moniker before you created this new one? |

Nice.
I think the politicians are the ones that incite the masses into tribalism sentiments. It's so rife because it's election time, once election is over, people will forget it. What pains me most is that, these generation of youths could have been the change, but they have sowed the seed of tribalism in them which will set this country back again. |

LegendHero: 30 years in the making.
I’m sure Kingibe would have remembered a lot which explained why he got emotional.
Tinubu copied everything about MKO campaign to the campaign tag.
—Hope ‘93 became Renewed Hope ‘23. —He copied the Muslim-Muslim template —He copied the Yoruba-Kanuri Template —He copied the alliance with the North template
That’s why I always laugh when people think “Renewed Hope” means renewed current APC regime. No, the renewed hope is the Hope 93 we lost in Abiola era. Now the mandate is back and we will move Nigeria to success.
RIP MKO God bless President elect Tinubu God bless the Northern governors God bless Benue people God bless Nigeria Read about Kingibe in the link below. https://saharareporters.com/2019/06/10/june-12-special-12-judases-june-12-who-betrayed-mko-abiola-hope-93 |
Politics › Re: INEC Violated Electoral Act — LP’s Datti Baba Ahmed Insists by oyetpel(m): 6:46am On Mar 02, 2023 |
sreamsense: Waste of time and money, you have situation room where all result announced at individual polling unit through your agents that witnessed the public counting after election. Your agent signed the sheets and also recorded/forward scores to LP situation rooms. Agent keep following and monitoring the vote count till they get to collation centers.
All your agents, party leaders, international representatives and ECOWAS designated members were all seated when precoding officers were submitting the voting record which was televized life to entire world. INEC portal was also opened and every party member was asked to validate scores received from each polling unit against uploaded results for correction. LP or PDP could not come out to say, polling unit this and that was different from what was counted at each polling unit and signed.
LP and PDP couldn't couldn't come out with glaring evidences on that , but when they discovered they have failed woefully, they started looking for excuses or other faults for entire work to be canceled because they are bad loosers. LP has shifted focus from election was rigged to electoral law on electronic transmission which will easily be dismissed at law court. You can't determine mode to use for INEC wheather manual or electronic. If there is technical issue or network disruption beyond what can be handled, INEC should be able to switch mode for success of election.
If polling result recorded and signed at polling units are different from what INEC announced, then; LP and PDP have points. However, their allegations are baseless and time wasting. Even when PDP thought they have strong evidences in 2019, defending those allegations were embarrassing and was dismissed. How much more LP that wants to base their exhibit on emotional online result from obidient that are known for fabricating lies, fake results and propagandas? It will be dismissed, even if election is redone now, LP will perform poorer those other ethnic may not vote for him again.
Aside this, if some polling units are to be rerun, where would obi get about 2.6milion vote to bridge APC gaps. LP won about 16 states, where will LP gets 7 more states when they even find it difficult to find one more. LP and PDP should stop wasting money, they have failed All these things you wrote would have made sense if Nigeria was a sane nation, but you know as e dey go. Results was manipulated. |

Ventura1: They should have consulted with their lawyers. Result at that level is not meant to be uploaded online, and even if uploaded, there is no how it can affect the process at the National collation center.
Like the YPP agent stated, the NCC is the fifth level of results collation, it is not where you compare IRev data with result. So at the local level, was the result tendered and read out compared with IREV data which was supposed to be ultimate and criteria before collation and announcement of results? |

N3TRAL: As long as Lagos remains the most urban state in Nigeria, foreigners will have a great say in determining who governs and represents the State.
It's like New York. Despite islamophobia in London, their mayor is a Sadiq Khan.
Nigeria's electoral system is developing rapidly and citizens are become more politically enlightened. It will get harder and harder for thugs to manipulate electoral systems. You can't send all non-yoruba people out of Lagos.
Virtue signaling is the tool. You have to act like you're carrying the foreigners along. If there was a Caucasian who could do that in London, a brown Sadiq Khan wouldn't be leading the diverse city.
If Ambode had gotten an LP ticket like they requested, Sanwo-olu would be in serious soup. Adopt virtue signaling like the blue states in America to lock down the votes of the non-yorubas. Despite being in APC, they seemed to like him.
I know it hurts when Lagos is called a no-man's-land. Nice write up, but you will keep infuriating Yorubas with this your No-mans land that you are saying, because Lagos is a Yorubaland, and your taunts and myopic mind cannot change that. Even Americans acknowledge that Indians were the first inhabitants of America. And even Australians recognise the Aboriginals as the first inhabitants of Australia. |

rolams: Atiku is clearing the North, Obi is clearing the south east and doing some magic in southwest. Tinubu is pushing hard in southwest. This is the best election so far.
In fact, the way Zaria in Kaduna, Nasarawa, Gombe and Zamfara dey fall for Atiku is mighty. I mentioned Jigawa to be one of the state that Atiku will win.
Yobe and Borno is also bringing funny result. I can't imagine Shettima losing his polling unit.
I have said it loud and clear before that kwakwaso is only doing gragra and won't win more than Kano.
Nobody should rejoice over the early result yet.
Fear the North! They hate Shettima in Borno |
