1. Governor Akinwunmi Ambode-led Lagos State government has announced a major reduction in the Land Use rates and as well waived the penalty for late payments across board.

According to the Commissioner for Finance, Mr Akinyemi Ashade, the rates payable on commercial properties have been reduced by 50 per cent in response to the demands of the people.

2. No fewer than 24 corpses were on Thursday buried in Okpoga, the headquarters of Okpokwu LGA of Benue State amid tears.

The deceased were victims of the attacks on Omosu village in Edumoga community penultimate week ago.

3. Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, has called on Nigerians to kick against move by the Senate to pass Hate Speech bill.

Soyinka also said President Muhammadu Buhari should have sacked Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Alhaji Dan Ali over the incessant harassment of innocent citizens by military personnel, “for no just cause.”

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, Thursday, described as iniquitous the statement by the president in which he compared the response of his government to that of former President Goodluck Jonathan to the abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls in 2014.

5. Some people suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists, yesterday, blocked a bus plying Igboho-Igbeti Road and reportedly abducted eight passengers from the bus.

According to a source, the armed men were said to have emerged from a bush at Old Oyo National Park, blocked the bus, ordered the passengers to alight and board another vehicle they parked by the roadside.

6. The Borno police command on Thursday have discovered plans by Boko Haram insurgents to carry out bomb attacks in Maiduguri metropolis.

The command warned residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons or objects to security agencies.

7. Suspected Fulani herdsmen have extended their reign of terror to Kogi State, leaving 25 people dead.

They were said to have attacked two communities in Dekina local government area namely Oganienugwu and Ikende and also Abejukolo in Omala local government area all in the Eastern Senatorial district of the state.

8. The Emir Of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II, (the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria) has been barred by Nigerian Ambassador to Turkey, Amb. Ilyasu Audu Paragalda from entering Turkish Repulblic of Northern Cyprus.

The Nigerian Ambassador to Turkey giving reasons for his actions stated that Emir Sanusi’s request to the country was turned down based on diplomatic reasons.

9. Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra state, says what governors earn in Nigeria will cause more outrage in country than revelation of Senators’ salaries.

Obi said if he revealed how much Nigerian governor earned, the outrage would be hotter than what trailed the N13.5 million monthly pay of senators.

10. President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday evening met behind closed doors with the leadership of the National Assembly.

The meeting was held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja but details have not been revealed.

Anybody condemning the distribution of Wheelbarrows in Benue is either ignorant or just mischievous and wicked. I was born in Benue and I grew up in Benue. From markurdi the state capital to any other corner of Benue state the usefulness of wheelbarrows cannot be over emphasised. This singular action should be used to teach our children in schools on the need for various state government to prioritise their peoples need. An agrarian state. A state with rich history, present and future tied to farming and somebody say Wheelbarrows are not Key to people of that state? Common!!! In the 80s and even up till the millennium, wheelbarrows are seen in motor parks in Markurdi ready to convey peoples loads as the they come of the Taxis in which they travelled in the whole of Benue. Wheelbarrows are a classic part of the Benue story and history and for no amount of mockery should any Benue indegien or one who was born and grew up in Benue be ashamed of wheelbarrows. I expected the BNSG to beat it's chest in pride and buy more to help the Benue people. I am not from Benue but Benue gave me the honour and privilege to be born in Makurdi as approved by God and I had a great childhood. Once a wheelbarrow with load takes a turn around the corner and into any street, kids begin to look out for their mothers returning from a trip or the market in excitement. Shame on people from Benue pretending not to know the history of Benue and wheelbarrows. Country of fake life and pretence.
