In our benchmarks tests, which ran the device through real-world applications including Adobe Photoshop, Sony Vegas Pro, Cinebench and Office applications – the Elitebook managed a reasonable score of 67/100, This means it outperformed the Yoga Pro, but fell short of the MacBook Pro 13in, which had double the RAM (8GB).
In day-to-day usage the device does take it’s time to start up – well over 60 seconds when using Windows 7 – but once you’re running it’s able to run a multitude of apps at the same time.
Upgradeability

Overall
It’s hard not to be impressed with the performance and upgradeability of the EliteBook 820 G1. It may not be as bendy as Yoga Pro 2 or eye-catching as the MacBook Pro range – but it should comfortably outlast both – an important factor in enterprise environments.

Nokia has won a patent infringing battle against HTC, leading to the ban of sales of the HTC One Mini in the UK.
The UK High Court found in October that HTC had infringed Nokia’s European patent number 0998024, described as a ‘modular structure for a transmitter and a mobile station’. As a result, Judge Richard Arnold ruled today that HTC can no longer sell its One Mini smartphone in the UK.
HTC had tried to argue that the microchips found to infringe Nokia’s patent were “a very small component” and therefore did not justify a sales ban. It also claimed that HTC does not compete with Nokia in the UK, because its smartphones run Google’s Android operating system while Nokia’s running Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS.
However, Nokia dismissed these arguments, claiming that it has “lost sales of Lumia phones since the launch of the One range.” HTC sold about 715,000 smartphones worth about £221 million in the UK between January and September, according to court documents.
HTC’s flagship One smartphone was also found to infringe the patent, but a ban has been delayed to give HTC time to appeal. Judge Arnold said in his ruling that blocking UK sales of the One would cause “considerable” damage to HTC’s UK business.

7. MEMORY : The second most important thing to look at after the processor is the memory, sometimes called RAM – for Random Access Memory. Accessing the hard drive is a rather slow process, so when the CPU needs to access data more quickly, the data is temporarily stored in fast-access volatile memory. The more memory your laptop has, the faster it can run. Realistically, we think you should aim for a minimum of 4GB of RAM, but we understand that budget can sometimes restrict this.
There is always the option to extend the RAM further down the line by buying more and adding it to your laptop. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this then plenty of electronics shops offer this service. However, we would certainly suggest trying to get as much as you can for your money in the first place. If it is a trade-off between memory and hard drive space, always go for the extra memory.

8. GRAPHICS : There are two types of laptop graphics available – integrated and dedicated – and getting the right one when you buy your laptop is vital. Integrated is the cheapest and is intended for running basic functions, so if you want to play games or run multimedia applications you’ll need a dedicated graphics card.
Even if you don’t play games, having a dedicated graphics card can be a good investment. It takes some of the grunt work involved in processing graphics away from the processor. So if you’re watching video, browsing a particularly graphical website or doing a spot of editing, the GPU will allow your computer to run faster. A word of warning though, a dedicated graphics card is likely to push the price of a laptop up quite heavily.
