Sports / Ronaldo Would Rather Play For Qatar Than Man City by ozoza: 7:17am On Nov 06, 2015
Cristiano Ronaldo has rejected the possibility of joining Manchester City, insisting he would rather move to the lucrative Qatar Stars League than play for Manchester United's bitter rivals if he needed money.

Ronaldo's long-term future at Real Madrid is far from certain after he claimed to have responded "why not?" when asked by Kicker if he could leave the La Liga giants.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain are believed to be the frontrunners to prise the 30-year-old away from Madrid should a departure materialise, while former club United are reportedly monitoring the situation.

City could also afford to sign Ronaldo, but the three-time Ballon d'Or winner has no intention of playing for Manuel Pellegrini's men.

"You think the money [is] going [to] change my mind now, at 30 years old?" Ronaldo told BBC Sport.

"I don't think so. I think this is not going to be the problem.

"If you speak about the money I will go to Qatar. Maybe they probably have more money than Manchester City.

"But it's not about the money, it's about the passion."

Sports / Aguero To Wear Messi Jersey No. 10 Against Acuador by ozoza: 10:44pm On Oct 07, 2015
Sergio Aguero has confirmed that he will wear the No. 10 shirt usually donned by Lionel Messi when Argentina face Ecuador on Thursday.

The Barcelona star has worn the iconic number for the majority of his career at both club and international level.

However, the jersey will be sported by the Manchester City forward when Argentina begin their World Cup 2018 qualifying campaign with fixtures at home to Ecuador and away to Paraguay.

"I spoke to the kitman and he told me it is obligatory - someone has to use it because the numbers go from one to 23," Aguero told La Nacion.

"I wore it for the first time against Bosnia, in a friendly in the United States, and Leo said: 'When I am not around, Kun has to use it.'

"Then he started to send me messages: 'Are you going to wear it? You're not going to chicken out?'

"Now, every time he is absent it is up to me to wear it. I am happy to pull on the shirt, but it obviously belongs to him."

Messi will not be present for Argentina's opening matches of the marathon campaign due to a knee injury picked up on club duty in September.

Aguero knows that his compatriot will be sorely missed but feels the squad have enough depth to get off to a winning start.

"It is a bit strange because Leo has always been here with us, but these things happen in football," he added.

"We have great players here and we can do well without him. Obviously it is different without him but we can still make a good start.

"Messi is Messi - he is irreplaceable. But there is a great team here which can make his absence be felt less sharply.

"Now, the key is winning and picking up three points. We are playing at home, it is a long time since Argentina has seen us and we have to play well from the start to gain confidence." Sources www.allfootballclub.com
Sports / Just Misunderstanding Between Oliseh And Enyeama - NFF by ozoza: 6:33am On Oct 07, 2015
Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) labelled a reported rift in the national team camp as just a "misunderstanding".

Reports suggested there was a confrontation between Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh and Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama as the side prepare for their African Nations Championship qualifiers against Burkina Faso, as well as a friendly against Cameroon.

It was alleged that Enyeama was expelled from the camp in Belgium, but the NFF revealed on Twitter that the situation had been resolved.

"It's true that there was a little misunderstanding in the camp of @NGSuperEagles, but the matter has been resolved. Enyeama remains in camp," the tweet read.

There have already been several issues in the Nigerian camp, with six home-based players and a collection of backroom staff having their visas delayed by the Belgian embassy. Sources www.allfootballclub.com
Sports / Eden Hazard: My Goal Against Arsenal Will Restore My Confidence by ozoza: 7:06pm On Sep 22, 2015
Eden Hazard says Arsenal goal will lift his confidence
Eden Hazard scored his first goal of the season against Arsenal

Eden Hazard admits his goal in Chelsea's weekend win over Arsenal will help his confidence as he looks to replicate his outstanding form of last season.

The midfielder broke his duck for the campaign as his deflected effort went in to seal a 2-0 win for the Premier League champions.

Hazard scored 14 times last term and won the PFA Player of the Year award as well as his club's equivalent prize for the second season running.

He has had a slower start this time around but the 24-year-old is optimistic he can kick on after getting off the mark against Arsene Wenger's side.

The Belgium international is hoping his team can now improve too. Chelsea had lost four of their first six games but beat Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League before the Arsenal match.

Hazard told chelseafc.com: "I am feeling good. Last year I had a good season. I have not lost my quality.
Newcastle vs Chelsea

"I had a good game and scored a goal with a bit of luck but that will be good for my confidence. After the complicated start to the season we've had we had to win against a good team.

"We won during the week as well and the confidence was close [to being fully restored]. We deserved to win the match."

Diego Costa has been charged by the FA for violent conduct during a bad-tempered affair at Stamford Bridge.

But Hazard's fellow midfielder Cesc Fabregas has focused on the Spanish international's positive qualities.

Fabregas said: "He's very competitive; it's good, he's hungry for success and to win all the time. You can see the fans love him as well, they get behind him all the time so it's great for us." Sources www.allfootballclub.com

Diego Costa Charged With Violent Conduct By FA

Chelsea striker Diego Costa is facing a three-match ban after being charged with violent conduct by the Football Association.
Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association following his side's win over Arsenal on Saturday.

Costa puts his hands in the face of Arsenal centre-back Laurent Koscielny and then clashed with Gunners' defender Gabriel, who was sent-off.

The FA has also charged Gabriel with improper conduct and both clubs with failing to control their players.

All parties have until Thursday, 24 September to respond to the charges. See more @ www.allfootballclub.com
Sports / Mourinho: Man-of-the-match Costa Was Fantastic, Arsenal Play Football Like Rugby by ozoza: 11:26pm On Sep 19, 2015
News from www.allfootballclub.com

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho felt Diego Costa's controversial showing in the win over Arsenal made him man-of-the-match, adding it represents why the Premier League remains popular.

Costa was central to Gabriel's first-half dismissal - having struck Laurent Koscielny in the face before being kicked out at by the Brazilian centre-half.

Santi Cazorla was then dismissed in between goals from Kurt Zouma and Eden Hazard, but it was Costa's colourful display that attracted the ire of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger - who branded the striker's behaviour "unacceptable".

However, Mourinho refuted suggestions Costa was in the wrong and stated his display was pure theatre.

"I played against Arsenal 12, 15, 18 times... I don't know how many. And only once [Wenger] didn't moan," Mourinho explained.

"And that day, we lost the game, which was not good for us, we lost the cup but we behaved in a fantastic way - no excuses, not crying, not moaning. Just Mr Jose Mourinho, my players and Chelsea football club.

"I played my first derby in September 2000 - Benfica against Porto. I told my players before the game that to win derbies you need emotional control. I've played derbies in Portugal, Spain, Italy and England. In every derby, you don't win without emotional control.

"It's the basic thing of the game. [Instead of Costa] I think you should speak about Gabriel Paulista. He's a good player who made a mistake.

"If you want to speak about Diego Costa with me, he played like he has to play. That's why you have full stadiums and the game watched around the world by millions and millions. The game has to be played like that.

"That is why tomorrow I will go to see what I consider comparable in terms of dedication and passion, New Zealand and Argentina [in the Rugby World Cup] - I go tomorrow because I love it. Fantastic, Diego.

"Costa was man-of-the-match for me. Of course [it was not a red card for Costa]. It was the same referee who made all the decisions in the game and who didn't give two clear penalties for us. There are also rules for what Gabriel did to Eden Hazard.

"Gabriel Paulista did something on Eden Hazard in the box that is allowed in rugby and not in football. In the box, it's a penalty. In the second half, someone did it on Diego Costa.

"In rugby it's fantastic but in football it's a penalty. I have to cope with my defeats, [Wenger] has to cope with his." Sources www.allfootballclub.com

Sports / Mourinho Must Deal With Pressure - Wenger by ozoza: 7:46am On Sep 19, 2015
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Chelsea counterpart Jose Mourinho must deal with the pressure that comes with starting their Premier League season poorly.

Ahead of the sides' meeting at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Chelsea sit 17th in the top flight, having taken just four points from five league games, as Wenger and Mourinho come face to face once more.

Wenger played down the pair's fractious rivalry over the years but warned Mourinho of the need to stand up to his current situation.

"These are situations that are difficult to assess. It's less enjoyable when it doesn't go well but every manager in the game for a long time has to do deal with that," said the Frenchman, famously branded a "specialist in failure" by Mourinho last term.

"What is important is what people will see at 12.45 and let's focus on that. I focus on what I love which is football... and all the rest doesn't affect me. What is important is football for me.

"We know our position at the end of the season will depend on how we do in the big games.

"I do not consider too much where Chelsea stand. I focus on us performing well tomorrow. I leave that to the specialists and take care of my own team and my own problems."

Strikers Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott had contrasting fortunes during Wednesday's Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb - the latter continued his fine form with a goal, having come off the bench after the Frenchman was dismissed for two bookings.

"Yes [he is making a case to start] but every game is different and that's why I don't deny the quality of Walcott," Wenger added.

"I'm happy he has scored so many goals and he shows he can score when he comes on as well like he did in Zagreb." Source www.allfootballclub.com
Sports / Arsenal Must Shut Up Mourinho - Keown by ozoza: 6:51am On Sep 18, 2015
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has stressed Arsene Wenger's men cannot afford to lose this weekend's Premier League showdown against Chelsea if they are to keep Jose Mourinho quiet.

Mourinho and Wenger have developed a frosty relationship over the years and Keown fears the Chelsea boss will verbally have a go at his Arsenal counterpart once more if he emerges victorious on Saturday, like he did in February 2014 when he branded the Frenchman a "specialist in failure".

Champions Chelsea sit fourth bottom in the Premier League after taking just four points from their opening five games, while Arsenal suffered a surprise 2-1 Champions League defeat at Dinamo Zagreb in midweek.

"Both teams' confidence is brittle going into this," Keown told The Daily Mail.

"Chelsea will feel that they are bouncing back - suddenly this has become a different game for Arsenal.

"It's then how they apply themselves. They got a drubbing in early kick-offs at Anfield and Chelsea, and there can't be any hangover even though they'll come back late from Zagreb.

"Mourinho's team will start like a house on fire. Victory rescues their season.

"Arsenal don't want Mourinho talking afterwards about how special he is again and how Arsenal have failed again.

"Wenger needs to create that urgency that their season hinges on this match."

Sports / : Isco Must Score Goals In Order To Bench James Rodriguez - Benitez by ozoza: 9:03pm On Sep 14, 2015
Real Madrid midfielder Isco needs to score more goals if he is to keep James Rodriguez out of the side when the Colombia international returns from injury, coach Rafa Benitez said on Monday.

James damaged a thigh muscle on duty with Colombia last week and will probably be sidelined for around a month and Isco played in his place in Saturday's 6-0 La Liga success at Espanyol and is likely to do the same in Tuesday's Champions League Group A opener at home to Shakhtar Donetsk.

While James has two goals in two appearances this term, to add to the 17 he netted last season, Isco has yet to score in his three games and only managed six in 2014-15.

"Isco is a great footballer and what he needs to do is to carry on doing what he has been this whole time," Benitez told a news conference previewing the clash at the Bernabeu.

"Work, work with intensity and dedication and beyond that make the most of the quality he has to score the odd goal more," added the 55-year-old, who took over from the sacked Carlo Ancelotti at the end of last season.

"I am very interested in the contribution he makes in terms of effort and balance and if he is more effective in front of goal that is better for everyone."

Real, the record 10-times European champions who last won the continent's elite club competition in 2014, were in electric form in their two most recent La Liga outings.

They hit five without reply past Real Betis and followed up by hammering Espanyol when Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo netted five goals to become Real's record scorer in La Liga.

Ronaldo is also the joint leading marksman in the Champions League with 77 goals alongside Barcelona forward Lionel Messi and Shakhtar and their Romanian coach Mircea Lucescu could be in for a rough ride on Tuesday.

Real have only failed to win their opening home match twice in 45 European Cup campaigns and not since 1962 when they drew 3-3 against Anderlecht.

"They are a great team with a very experienced coach who always gets the best out of his new players," Benitez said.

"They have players with ability, quality and speed and if we are not very focused and do not take the game as seriously as we should we could find it difficult." Sources www.allfootballclub.com
Sports / Roma V Barcelona: Another Messi Milestone In Luis Enrique's Return by ozoza: 3:24pm On Sep 14, 2015
Luis Enrique makes his return to his old club as Lionel Messi prepares for his 100th Champions League game in Barcelona's trip to Roma.

Luis Enrique faces a return to the Stadio Olimpico as Barcelona begin their Champions League defence against Roma on Wednesday.

The former Spain international was in charge of Roma for the 2011-12 season but left the club after failing to guide them into European competition.

But Luis Enrique, who guided Barca to the treble last term, says his experience in the Italian capital was a key learning curve in his coaching career.

"What happened at Roma made me a better coach," he said. "I have great memories, I'd have liked to have finished higher but it was a very positive year."

The game also represents another milestone in the career of Lionel Messi, with the Champions League's all-time top scorer set to make his 100th appearance in the competition.

The Argentina star came off the bench to score the winner against Atletico Madrid at the weekend, having been left out of the starting line-up after missing training to be at the birth of his second child, but is expected to start in midweek.

Thomas Vermaelen and Claudio Bravo (both calf) are sidelined, while Dani Alves has not recovered sufficiently from a groin injury, but Gerard Pique is free to return after missing recent domestic action due to suspension.

Roma sealed a 2-0 win over Frosinone at the weekend and debutant Antonio Rudiger hopes to see the team carry confidence into the showdown with Barca.

"I think we played well," he told the club's official website.

"It wasn't a stellar performance like the Juve match [a 2-1 win before the international break] but the most important thing was to get the three points. Now we can focus on Barcelona.

"It's going to be a massive match, for the team and for all Roma fans. I'm sure that with the support of the fans we can achieve something big.

"We're all very young and I'm sure that with time the understanding and communication will get even better."

Roma are without Miralem Pjanic (calf) for the game but Radja Nainggolan is set to start after only appearing as a substitute against Frosinone.

The European champions overcame Roma 3-0 in the Joan Gamper Trophy exhibition match in August but they have not met in the Champions League since February 2002, when Luis Enrique started in Barca's midfield in a 1-1 draw.

Francesco Totti, who also played in that fixture, is one goal short of 300 for Roma in all competitions. Source www.allfootballclub.com

"It was a great performance, but it's not only this game, you see from the first game against Everton to this game we've been working hard as a team," Ighalo told the Watford Weekend Post-Match Review on Hornets PlayerHD.

"The team has been doing well, even in the last two games we played at home, so it's a big relief and it's a big team effort.

"It's always a pleasure scoring and getting three points in front of the home fans, so it's a great feeling, and I'm really happy about the way they are singing my name," said Ighalo.

"Like I said after I signed my contract, they've been pushing us and keeping us going and they're one of the reasons why I made the decision to be here.

Sports / Mourinho: People Enjoy Seeing Me Suffer by ozoza: 10:43pm On Sep 13, 2015
The Portuguese saw his side lose 3-1 to Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday and admits that many onlookers will be enjoying seeing him go through such a sticky spell

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has claimed that people enjoy seeing him suffer after the Premier League champions were beaten 3-1 by Everton on Saturday.

Steven Naismith netted a 'perfect' hat-trick at Goodison Park to condemn the Blues to their third defeat from their opening five games of the season.

However, Mourinho was reluctant to blame his players after the loss, and expressed his belief that he will be able to arrest an alarming slump against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League on Wednesday, though he admits that some onlookers will enjoy seeing his side falter.

Mourinho told BBC Sport: "I know that lots of people are happy that finally after so many years they find me in a situation like this so fair play, enjoy - but I will enjoy my day [on Sunday] again working hard as always and thinking we can win on Wednesday.

"It is the first time in my career that I am getting these bad results but I am coping with the situation because I am on the players' side, I am not against them. I don't feel I have any reason to be here speaking against them or against their desire or their lack of frustration at the situation so I keep believing in them.

"It is better not to look to the table, this is the first time I look and see my team in such a position.

"Obviously my career and my experience make me believe in myself and I am happy that on Wednesday we have another game and we don't have to wait 15 days like we did from the last match [the defeat to Crystal Palace].

"I am happy that in this moment the players don't have too much time to think about what is happening and a different competition is welcome when we are not behind having less points than the opponents - we are on zero like Maccabi, Porto and Dynamo Kiev.

"It is a good challenge, I cannot be here jumping or laughing because people may think I am not sad or frustrated so I cannot laugh too much, but the reality is I face this situation smiling inside because it is a good challenge."

Following the clash with Maccabi, Chelsea will return to Premier League business with a crunch clash against Arsenal on Saturday. Source www.allfootballclub.com

Sports / Atletico Madrid 1-2 Barcelona: Messi Always Make The Difference by ozoza: 12:57am On Sep 13, 2015
Lionel Messi made it 2-1 for Barcelona against Atletico Madrid.

Lionel Messi came off the substitutes' bench for Barcelona to secure a 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid in La Liga.

Messi, who celebrated the birth of his second son on Friday, did not start the game but replaced Ivan Rakitic on the hour mark and proved the difference.

Fernando Torres was presented with a chance to open the scoring for Atletico Madrid early in the first half but the former Chelsea striker sliced his left-footed shot wide.

Luis Suarez then went close for the visitors as his shot from close range hit the crossbar but the first half at the Vicente Calderon remained goalless.

Torres did break the deadlock six minutes into the second half as he raced on to Tiago's through ball before guiding the ball home in off the foot of the post.

But Barcelona hit back swiftly when Neymar curled in a fantastic free kick that left goalkeeper Jan Oblak with no chance.

And the comeback was complete as Messi latched on to Suarez's wonderful lay-off before dinking into the net.

The victory for Luis Enrique's Barcelona maintained their 100 percent start to the campaign. http://allfootballclub.com/
