@ YoungExec. Thanks; your efforts and opinions are highly appreciated. Hope you keep contributing as I hope to learn more. |
@ YoungExec and other posters on this thread: I must commend you all for your efforts. I started applying this principle about 2 months ago; although, I live outside Nigeria. Applying this principle has been quite tough, but as you rightly said: it takes discipline; however, i'm quite conflicted as to where to start investing funds already saved in Nigeria or in the U.S where I am currently because i'm not versed at all in making investments . I would like to do both, but i would like some ideas as to to balance investing in both countries. After all those in the U.S know the struggle, and those back home know how it is over there too. Thanks. |
rokiatu:This rokiatu picture don make me laff sotey I piss 4 body, if only the lady know wetin the two of dem life they hang on , she for even comot d g. strin.g for am ![]() |
Let me preface by saying that there is no guarantee in life, but these steps do help in proper management of SCD especially the younger ones who are still not sure of how their body works(teenagers especially): 1. For those who are AS and find out that their partner or intended spouse are AS/SS please don't get married, it may be hard to let go now but in the long run it'll be one of the best decisions you'll ever make. SCD patients don't only go through physical pain, in fact it is even more painful to watch your mother cry when you(SCD patient) are in pain and her knowing there isn't much she can do or watch your father with tears burning in his eyes but trying his best to stay strong for his son/daughter and hoping for the best. 2. SCD patients, avoid the temptation of the need to belong especially in a social setting; i know this is hard when you see your fellow guys drinking, merry and having fun with the ladies, we can't do without the females so have fun with that but always be safe . My main concern here would be drinking and smoking, please this is very dangerous, if you must drink it must be done MODERATELY. Also, you may be tempted to play football or any other rigorous sport, but this isn't advisable because there is a certainty that you would go into crisis/crises. Again I wouldn't say avoid sports and exercise altogether, but I would advise that you engage in cardiac-respiratory form of exercises, if you engage in body-building to impress the ladies, do so MODERATELY; you don't need to build up like Arnold Schazenneger( abi wetin be him name again sef, in fact TERMINATOR), our girls na financial muscle dem like ![]() 3. Avoid weather extremes, especially stuffy environments in Nigeria especially due to the hot weather. I know say NEPA no dey make am easy, but when you find yourself in any stuffy or very hot environment, please remember to stay properly hydrated and respired. 4. Follow you medications religiously. I don't know about all the drugs for SCD, but I do know that Folic acid(folate) is one of the most important because it helps in the production of red blood cells, which are easily destroyed in the SCD patient due to the sickle-shape of the blood cells. 5. Don't do anything strenuous and overly rigorous when you don't have to. Finally, always be positive in your thinking; this is difficult especially when in crisis. We have been stigmatized at times, we have also been pitied at times, even when we hate this more than Seun and his cohorts hate the mere mention of the G-word , we have gone through unimaginable pain(physically and emotionally), yet we are still standing strong and marching ahead(others have not been so fortunate). Remember that crisis and pain is a certainty of our existence and there isn't much one can do to change it, what we can definitely do is to properly manage it when it comes. To intending couples please make sure your genotypes are compatible, if your genotypes aren't, please let go now. It is better to part ways now and endure moment of heartache than a life of constant worry(who knows there may be something better for you ahead), we are fortunate to have an advancement in science that has made it possible for us to know these things, our parents and grandparents weren't so fortunate. |
justwise: You are wrong, Obama did call it act of terror, Skynews has played the clip over and over again.Yes he did call it an act of terror; what I meant was that Obama sidestepped the main question, which was about who made the decision to deny a request for enhanced security prior to the the attack on the American consulate in Benghazi. That was a very tricky question, although he did quite well in turning that question around and ended up making a fool out of Romney, who in fact made the mistake of not pressing the president on that particular question. Watch the video again on youtube from 1:06:45 mins and see what I'm talking about. |
Almubaraq Sadara: No matter hw harder scientist try to provide alternatives to means of life, nature is diffrenced to nurture, which cant be cheated. Ppl out there dis is just a warner nd a reminder, evry one should be awared dt no man can runs faster than his shadow, we shall all go back home or to a jorney of irreturnable one day, willingly or unwillingly. ![]() |
naptu2: He's still trying to break the record for the oldest world champion. He tried to get funding from President Obasanjo to stage the fight in Nigeria. Obasanjo bought the idea at first, but pulled out after Bash Ali performed badly in a warm up fight (he didn't want to sponsor a suicide attempt).Lmao!!!! I'm quite sure they all made the right decision ![]() |
After all is said and done, I still think that the Obama administration is vulnerable, especially on the Benghazi issue. The moderator erroneously helped Obama by saying that he mentioned that the supposed protest was an act of terror, and Romney backed down thereby relieving Obama off of that testy and very sensitive question(the moderator is getting some flak today for that) . The next debate is on foreign policy, and I am absolutely certain that this issue would come up again.I just hope Obama has a damn good explanation waiting, because like shymmex, I fear that this could be to Obama what the Iranian hostage crisis was to Jimmy Carter. Keeping my fingers crossed! |
Yeah Terry Ray, that was the guy. lol! But Bash Ali could really run his mouth then; whatever happened to him? |
naptu2: Bash AliHey naptu, who was the guy that Bash Ali fought around 1999/2000 when he made this statement " I will intimidate him in the first round; break him down physically in the second round, and knock him out in the third round"? I will never forget that statement. Me and my friends back in secondary school used to have a laugh over that statement. By the way, great job with the this thread; it has been most educative. |
Iranoladun: Absolutely true! The guy did not even showed any sign of discomfort or stress. I think he must have assume he did very well at the interview or that 'enemies are at work'Please tell me that the highlighted parts are attempts at a joke ![]() |
dayokanu: During my NYSC days, A girl. A graduate of either Economics, Business Admin or Accounting from Abraka. While teaching JS2 students Mathematics, she wroteUna no go kill with laff for this NL, I swear ![]() |
Iranoladun: @ TopicBwahahahahhaahaha! Is this true or you're just exaggerating? |
@ violent, occam, and Kay-Dee : Thanks for the clarification, I get it now. |
But I thought Florida as well as Ohio are swing states that could go to either party, and both these states have quite significant number of electoral votes compared to Nevada. |
occam: Latest polls in Penn & Michigan are within margin of error; though leaning Obama. Personally, I think these 2 states can still go either way.Excuse my ignorance, but why is Nevada so important? I'm not sure, but I thought Nevada has about 5 electoral votes; so why is it more important than Florida that has about 20-something. Please explain this to me because I sincerely don't know why. |
Nigerians are so illiterate. To the illiterates posters above : There's a very big difference between GOING BANKRUPT and FILING FOR BANKRUPTCY. Take note, the article didn't say he is bankrupt, it only said, he filed for . . .
Could you please elaborate because I can't figure out why one would file for bankruptcy if one is bankrupt or going bankrupt . In fact English language too hard sef ![]() |
This judgement right here is Nigeria folks! A country where alleged criminals are brutalized in a chilling manner; a country where a man would steal a tuber of yam and will remain in jail for up to 6 years awaiting trial, while the real criminals whose modus operandi of looting the treasury defies logic would be celebrated upon release after spending 2 months in a jail cell that that is quite superior to living standard of a lot of Nigerian. Naija I hail! |

Let's see; It's not very often that I comment on Nairaland, but log in whenever I can because it provides me with laughter, education, and also an insight into how daft some people could be .Here is my list of favourite Nairalanders: Males. 1. Cap28 : This is one guy that is quite obsessed with distrusting the white man, but make no mistake, he damn sure is an intellectual who engages in debates quite well. 2. Davidylan: This is also another person who displays sound reasoning and logic to debates, although goes overboard sometimes. 3. Sagamite: I still don't understand the guy's fascination with the word "phocktard" and "cretin" , but he sure holds his own in intellectual discourses.4. Seun: Evidently for creating this site. 5. Lefulefu: This guy keeps me roflmao with his comments. 6. The Garri Squad: Say what you want about these fellows, but you sure can't deny the entertainment these guys bring to this forum. Females. 1. Idowuogbo: This is one hell of a comedian. 2. MzDarkskin: My admiration for this lady developed during a bitter but informative debate with one guy called AmuIgwe regarding the incomprehensible standoff between African Americans and Africans. I learnt a bit from both of them. 3. Ogugua88: This girl keeps my heart racing for inexplicable reasons. Is it her beauty? I don't know; Is it her ability to get her point across saliently? I have no Idea . I just know she's one of my favourites .4. Mrs Chima: I honestly can't explain this. From my perspective, she seems very aggressive, a feminist, and someone always looking to pick up a fight where there is none ; however, for some unknown reason I just admire her wit and the way she tends to make her points.5. Ammyng or whatever her name is: This is purely physical ![]() Overall, I love Nairaland for the jokes, politics, tribalists, f.ucktards , cretins. e.t.c.God bless all Nairalanders, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Over and out. |
ORAFA: Some id.iots here will rant cluelessly and senselessly too. Do u knw wat d driver said b4 they clamped down on him? Sum of u just hear a one-sided story and draw up conclusions. How many of u can say d rubbish u've said abt d army even 20yrds away from an unarmed soldier backing u? NONE! And u cum here to run ur mouths. If u think US soldiers can protect u beta, id.iot, pack ur stuff and go to NY or u can try Afghanistan.... Bloody goats. Auwa! He should sit on d gravel for 5hrs. Dat way others will learn. IF U FEEL OFFENDED, BRUSH UR MOUTH WITH ACID AND FEEL BETA.....Long Live NIGERIAN ARMY.The way some people reason is quite staggering; for god sake, your rant is disturbing. You're totally missing the point; an Army is not to be feared by the citizenry which it has been set up to defend from external aggressors, but to be respected. An Army should be feared by its enemies, not its citizenry. |
jumpmasta: what of you bloody civilians...?in what way can u measure up to an American civilian...?Look at this empty barrel spewing nonsense here. You are probably one of those bullies that call themselves soldiers. I really cannot blame you; you are the product of a system that needs complete reorientation on some of the watchwords of a professional organization such as an Army : discipline and professionalism. I'm quite sure these two words are alien to you ![]() |
vislabraye: Our soldiers can be anything but coward. They're the best fighting msachines in Africa.Absolute drivel! Most of our soldiers are nothing but thugs in uniform. One more thing, Nigerian soldiers are inferior to American soldiers in discipline and professionalism, period. We don't even need to talk about weaponry. ![]() |
I remember that day vividly; I was drinking garri and milk( I'm serious) when I turned on the T.V and saw the headline " America under attack" by CNN. I was stunned ![]() |
ehie: what are u try tring to sell with Obama's speech always coming up in the front page,Oh my goodness! I'm really attracted to girls like this. If you have the beauty to match your brains, I will definitely marry you. On a more serious note though, this is an intelligent post. ![]() |
