Konga is better for me. the prompt delivery and all. i bought a nokia phone from Jumia and after a month it developed a fault i went to nokia care and i was told it does not have Nokia Nigeria warranty... i called and mailed jumia and they bluntly refused to respond...i have never had issues with KONGA. moreso Jumia has bad customer service.

I will like to bring everyone's attention to an issue concerning interswitch and their OTP. Central Bank stopped the deduction of #100 from ATM users and they are now looking for means to keep making money off Nigerians.
Central asked Banks to implement the use of token for security purpose but interswitch has seized the opportunity to make money.

My experience:
I wanted to buy recharge card online through the quickteller website and I was asked to go and register for token on the ATM which I did and I was charged #100. I tried to buy something else online and it directed me to the interswitch webpay portal and then asked me to send GTB OTP to 32122 and I did only for my phone to tell me you have sent 6 messages and I am charged #30 that's not even the painful part. I was waiting for the OTP and then got the message you have not registered for token bla bla bla.....I already have a token generator hardware from my bank which I paid for why should I be buying token anytime I want to transact business online.

My concern is this, supposing one is stranded somewhere and needs to make a call. You are out of airtime but you have access to Internet. If you want to purchase airtime from all networks which will definitely go through interswitch webpay portal it will be impossible because you have to be charged #30 for OTP before you can buy airtime. To me I feel it is ridiculous. This is conniving between interswitch and the telecom operators. And it needs to be looked into urgently.

Blewusi: I have bought four Tecno phones, but I've never used F7. If you read my posts well, you'll notice that I ONLY QUOTE PEOPLE WHO HAVE USED THE PHONE, COMPLAINED AND POSTED THEIR COMPLAINTS ON THIS THREAD. I've never said anywhere that I'm using F7, though I've ADMITTED that I used to be a Tecno fan and I bought four (4) of their phones.

That concludes the argument... it obvious you have been arguing uninformatively... and also not from experience. pls save and buy the phantom then you'll see that companies like Samsung have been reaping us off in this part of the world. I see companies like tecno as demystifiers of the android smart phone world. I hope you know there are 1:1 replicas of Samsung phones especially the S4. All these shows that smart phones are not meant for only those who can cough out '000s without blinking but the average Nigerian can also have a high end smart phone with out breaking the bank.

From Gingerbread 2.3.5 to Honeycomb 3.0 to ICS 4.04 and now Jelly Bean 4.2.2. Hasn't Samsung done very well supporting S2 for the past two (2) years? This is another link showing S2 is currently running on Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and those who don't want to wait for the official upgrade (OTA) to 4.2.2 can do so MANUALLY.

Presumed All Drivers properly set up on Win Machine, All Tolls Downloaded and Extracted in appropriate working folder, full charge the battery of Smart Phone

Let the fun begin, FIRST Thing to do is testing all PC Port working well, ensuring PC detected and can communicate with device, turn on windows machine sound and set to give sound alert once a new device/peripheral connected. Just for info, MXNEC M307 (and probably most MT6577 devices), have NO fastboot interface on the boot loader, they utilize UBOOT (Universal Boot) as boot loader. The "download mode" is a state where a device ready to accept flashing process of internal "disk" (emmc or mtd), for MT6577 device the state NAMED PRELOADER. PRELOADER STATE, MXNEC M307 MT6577 device can be achieved by

Swtiched OFF the phone
Take out the Battery
Put in Back the Battery into battery slop
Connected to PC via USB Port
NOTE : Preloader State on MXNEC M307 MT6577 Device is appear only some seconds, probably 3-5 seconds since device connected to usb, and after that immediately turning into CHARGING STATE

Testing Connection between device and PC
Do above step : swithced off phone, take out battery, put in back battery into battery slot properly
Open Device Manager on Windows Machine
Connect phone to PC Via USB Port
Check Device Manager on PC


If you DO NOT SEE MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM Port (Com6 ... Your probably different port number)
There is a problem on connection and will caused failure in flashing the device, go and check your driver installation
If you CAN SEE MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM, then it is correct track to proceed

Please Check Also on ADB State the device is detected by PC, ADB State is device Normal Booting up on a condition when a normal phone used for phoning, texting, browsing, gaming etc.
Switched on Phone, let phone booting normally up to ON stand by state
Set phone into USB Debugging ENABLE, touch Setting > Developer Option > USB Debugging ... Optionally Enable Stay Awake

Connect phone to PC via usb Port
Open windows Machine and Check the Device Manager


UNFORTUNATELY My MXNEC M307 MT6577 detected by windows as SAMSUNG DEVICE
If dont see anything or ADB Exclaimed. Then need to get rid with reinstalling OEM Drivers and Google USB Driver
LET DO ROOTING
Rooting to MXNEC M307 MT6577 will Use MTKDroidTools which should be downloaded and unpacked. Go to Unpcaked MTKDroidTools Folder
For windows 7 point MTKDroidTools.exe > right click > Run As Administrator
Connect Phone to PC via USB Port (Phone in ADB/Android Mode)
A MTK Droid Tools windows will Come Up


First and Very Important is Creating Scatter File
To create Scatter File Click BlockMap button
A Windows will Come Up

Click Create Scatter File
Save File Named MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt in a Folder you like, suggested create a folder named MXNEC M307 to save the file for easy tracing
Hit Return on the Block Info window
Back to MTKDroid Tools Windiows

Click ROOT Button
On Process MTK Tools windows will instruct to touch Restore My Data on Phone
Your Phone will change to a Restore state, something like below

Tap the Phone gently at Restore my Data
Please patiently wait ... Phone is being rooted by MTK Droid Tools ... take a while
A POP UP WINDOWS WILL APPEAR TO ASK RESTORE PLEASE ENSURE TO CLICK NO AGAIN NO
A Window Pop Up appear to ask to Install Busybox and File Explorer ... ensure to click YES

FINISH YOU ARE ROOTED and JUST BREAK YOUR WARRANTY

After gaining ROOT ACCESS, the MUST do is Back Up the whole ROM in live device. This is very important and very usable

To unbrick a device if something wrong during tweaking, testing
To revert back to Factory state for many purpose... Just in case
To help friend owned similart device and need factory ROM by uploading somewhere in the NET, set to enable public access thus anyone can download

BACK UP FACTORY ROM LIVE IN DEVICE

Device have been rooted by above step
Set Device to USB Debugging Enable
Go to MTK Droid Tools > Run As Administrator MTK Droid Tools.exe
Connect Phone to PC via USB Port


Green color on device indicator 9300 indicate the devices have been ROOTED (The Color for every computer probably different)
Click Second Tab : root, backup,recovery

To do Back up Just Click Back Up Button, by default MTK Droid Tools will back up the whole rom WITHOUT USERDATA (everything user setup like google account, email setting, time zone, gmail setting). If you want to back up also your peronal setting then Thick Backup User data and Cache, otherwise let it blank
Option Leave Flash Tools File on SD Card will also store backup file to phone's sd card Suggestion Leave it Blank, since storing the file at sdcard probably will fail if sdcard full
Once everything satisfying : Click BACK UP Button
Back up process starting


It is take a while Just be patient
Upon nearly finishing Back Up a pop up request appear


Suggested to click YES, by accepting the option, Tools will archive the whole back up rom into zip file. It is easier to be store and upload to internet storage
FINISHED .... Back Up file stored into : MTKDroidTools > Backup
Suggested To copy backup file and store into other safe folder Just in case ...

samilo88: Do you have tun.ko installer? If not download and install it from playstore. Open the tun.ko and check all the highlighted boxes then click install. The tun.ko would connect to the Internet to download the modules for ur fone that means your fone must be connected to an Internet plan. After installing the modules which shouldn't take up to a minute, open your droid vpn, log in with your email nd d password given to you on the droid vpn website. Go to d droid vpn settings, click on connection protocol and select ICMP. click d connect button on d droid vpn. Launch ur browser nd u are hood to go. Note you can't use more than 100mb per day worth of data on droid vpn cos u a free registered account. Hope this helps.

Nope! I tried the Airtel BIS unlimited, does not work on non BB devices.

I think it generally stopped working. I inserted the sim in a blackberry and its working fine.its stopped working on android. So as it is now MTN,AIRTEL,GLO and ETISALAT BB services no longer work on non bb phones. But its just a matter of time, there is always a way out.

I  sense a lot of pride in the tone of the person who started this post,

I hate to disappoint you, as an HR Consultant, i have come across a lot of 1st class and 2.1 candidates who cannot string together an intelligent sentence at interviews and 3rd class candidates who are articulate and very bright. i have seen a lot of 1st class still writing 'i beg to apply' and 3rd class holding managers supervising and heading a team of 2.1 holding subordinates. there are also people i am managing who finished with 2.1 but are very poor performers on the job.

Its only in Nigeria that i see employees depend wholly on what a piece of paper says. I worked in the UK for a while, and employers there are more concerned about experience and potential abilities than a piece of paper that says 1st class or 2.1.

i will advice you to get rid of that smug attitude, especially at interviews, it wont get you too far.
i do congratulate you on finishing with a 1st or 2.1, do not rest on your oars, the sky is just the beginning, and to those still in school PLEASE do not finish with a third, you wont be doing yourself any favours. all the best to everyone on this page.

This is the best post in all, I feel the person who stated this topic should be advising and not braging about what grade he/she finished with. There is more to life than university grades, there are those with 1st class without VISION.therefore have no headway. Thats not to say you should not do well or finish with good grades. The fact that you finished with a third class does not make you a failure in Life.
Some people buy the so called 1st class and can't prove them selves in the real world. Have you not seen a graduate with 1st class in computer science/engineering yet can not operate a computer or know the components of a PC yet a small boy in OTIGBA (computer Villa) wey no go school!! can assemble a PC from scratch.
