PoliticsRe: Governor Amaechi Buys $50 Million Bombardier Jet, Amid State’s Flood Disaster by paddymo(m): 3:45pm On Oct 26, 2012
Ricky_Ross: I am not supporting the extravagant lifestyle of our governors, but the way some fools are trash talking Rivers State is alarming. Can you all mention the names of your respective states so we can compare with Rivers State? Outside of Lagos State, which other Nigerian city is as developed as Port Harcourt? Someone said he spent 2 weeks in Rivers state and enjoyed only few hours of electricity? Which village is that? Thats what you get when you live in the ghetto... My own part of PHC i have standard road networks and we enjoy minimum 18 hours of power daily, sometimes the electricity lasts 3 days non stop...

I live in PHC, but someone comes from outside the state, spends 2 weeks in Port Harcourt and automatically he now knows PHC more than everyone else.

I must admit, Amaechi did wonders during his first term, and he is very slow now, but he is far ahead of most of your state governors hands down. What Amaechi achieved in the educational sector no other state governor can achieve in 8 years. Primary and secondary schools in River state are far more advanced and more equipped than many of your state universities, this is no joke. All over Rivers state, he built state of the art health centers.

If you are wondering what Amaechi is doing now, then take a trip to the GREATER PORT HARCOURT CITY. Thats where I built my house and that's where all the mega projects are going on. The World class hospital, world class roads, the best stadium in Nigeria, the Rivers state university of science and technology etc are at advanced stages of construction. There are too numerous projects in the GPHC to mention here. You either pay a visit to confirm, or you Google it.

Rivers state does not need this private jet, I am not from Rivers, I am not singing anyone praises, but I say things the way they are. From the way people are talking shiit here a stranger will assume PHC is a kinda shit hole. They should start by telling us what their own state governors have done better than Amechi. Akpabio should build the kind of world class schools in rivers bc that is what the poor masses need, not some Tropicana resorts and 5 star hotels that are for the rich only.
Gov. Akpabio don't think or act like ordinary Nigerian Politicians, the infrastructural Development in Akwa Ibom is not base on politics but quality. 80% of primary and secondary schools in Akwa Ibom has changed face in terms of appearance and facilities as new class block are created with bore holes, water system toilet to count the few. text books shared to pupils and student. meanwhile you should also know that these schools are free and compulsory for all Nigerians. you wont believe that in all the renovation and erection of new buildings in government primary and secondary school in Ikwa Ibom, no class block has wooden door or windows. all are equiped with quality iron doors and window. The roofing carries standard Aluminum zinc and well fenced. this is the test of Akpabio and not what politicians do. if you come to Akwa Ibom and you dont see the above mentioned, call me a liar.

stop listing. just one problem corruption

Because if we limit corruption (limit cause you cant eradicate corruption) all the sector will be in order. in the absent of a corrupt leader as the head of state, electricity will be made available no matter what it might take,

without corrupt leaders in the defends, police and other forces will be trained and with modern communication facilities and will also know his job as a police officer. imagine for instance, our police is well equipped with trucks worth millions of naira when this money could be used to buy 4 salon cars for 2police (2police officer per salon car) so you can imagine all of them packing in an hilux vehicle like sardine going to stop rubbers and all of them get killed because of their stupidness. but on the salon car, the can surround the rubbers and something like chopper which we dont have will be on top monitoring

mehn we have a long way to go,

PoliticsGov. Akpabio Bringing The Dividends Of Democracy To The People In His First Four by paddymo(op): 9:14am On Jul 21, 2011
A socio-political group, Akwa Ibom Grassroot Mandate (AGM), has hailed the victory of Governor, Godswill Obot Akpabio at the April election, describing it as unquestionable.
The group, which held a thanksgiving service at the Christos International Worship Centre (CIWC) in Abuja, to celebrate the tribunal’s verdict said the ruling represented the collective will of Akwa Ibom people.

Chairman of the AGM, Francis Ime Ekanem, while addressing the press, he averred that beside Governor Akpabio, there was no better candidate in the state that deserved such overwhelming support as given to the candidature of the governor.

He said that the support was predicated upon his laudable performances throughout the entire state, bringing the dividends of democracy to the people in his first four-year term.
“Within four years, Dr Godswill Akpabio has given credible and transparent leadership to Akwa Ibom people through free and compulsory education, free healthcare for children, pregnant women and the elderly, 205 new roads across the state, first ultra-modern e-library in West Africa, completed Ibom International Airport, ultra-modern government house, over 3000 rural projects across 329 wards, completed Ibom Power Plant.
“1,365 rural electrification projects, three new flyovers in Uyo, world-class Tropicana Business and Entertainment Complex and first gas processing plant, first in African underground pipe-jacking drainage project, and many more.

Ekanem, who said that this claims were verifiable asked that any past leader or persons in the state was free to challenge his submission on the achievements of Governor Akpabio, adding that no one had ever set such records in the history and development of the state.
By these performances, he said Governor Akpabio made it very easy and cheap for his group and others, to sell his candidature to Akwa Ibom people world over, which also explained the overwhelming acceptance and votes given to him at the poll.

“Our campaign throughout the nooks and crannies of the 31 LGAs in the state was not difficult. Even the enemies and opposition knew that Godswill will continue in 2011. The few challenges we has were not enough to stop the will of God from manifesting in the state,” Ekanem stated.
He further stated that there were no elections devoid of complaints anywhere in the world, said those that were crying foul would have adjudged the election in the state as been very credible, only if they were the winners.

He therefore advised them to take advantage of Governor Akpabio’s magnanimity to join his crusade to make Akwa Ibom a modern and model state in the country.

President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday swore in 13 aides out of 18 announced with a charge to them to be more knowledgable than ministers in the areas they will advise, like their colleagues in other developed democracies.
The President, who expressed satisfaction with his choice of aides after their citations read by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Dada Jallo, told them that the challenges were enormous and Nigerians were anxious to feel the impact of democracy. “Let me congratulate all of you that have been brought on board to work with us, you should know that our challenges are quite enormous and if you have been following the papers, you will know that Nigerians expect a lot from us. As special advisers, you are expected to be more knowledageble in the areas you will advise than even ministers.

In most democracies that is what obtains. Let me share a joke with you that a friend told me while I was talking about special advisers, he admonished me and said ‘Mr. President I hope you will not appoint special advisers that you will advise.’ So from your citations I am quite sure that I am appointing special advisers that would advise me and not the ones I will advise. So I congratulate you.”

The 13 aides were sworn in three batches.
Those sworn in are, Mr. Oronto Douglas, Special Adviser to the President on Research and Strategy, Senator Joy Emordi, Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, Professor Dan Adebiyi, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Mrs. Sarah Jibril, Special Adviser to the President on Ethics and Values and Bashir Sufyan, Special Adviser to the President on Legal Matters (Office of the Vice President).
Others are Senator Isaiah Ballat, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties (Office of the Vice President), Kingsley Kuku, Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Dr. Pius Olakunle Osunyikanmi, Special Adviser to the President on International Relations and Dr. Asma’u Abdulkadir, Special Adviser to the President on Gender Issues.

The last batch sworn-in are Dr. Rueben Abati, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Tunji Olagunju, Special Adviser to the President on NEPAD, Nze Sullivan Akachukwu Nwakpo, Special Adviser to the President on Technical Matters and Mrs. Sarah Akuben Pane, Special Adviser to the President on Social Development.
Those who were not sworn in yesterday were Prof. Abubakar Sambo, Special Adviser to the President on Energy and Yakubu Abdullahi, Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters (Office of the Vice President).
Speaking to State House correspondents shortly after the ceremony, the president’s spokesman said: “My assignment is very simple, to assist reporters and editors do their jobs better in having access to facts, in a manner in which it will enable them understand this presidency.

This is a presidency that is commited to the idea of transparency, accountability and collective ownership on major issues at stake. In my view, these will be areas of my engagement.”
Douglas, in his chat with newsmen said it was all about team work that would involve the cooperation of all Nigerians to move the nation forward. “It’s a big agenda, it’s a big train with a big heart, with a robust and refined force to move that agenda forward and from what I have seen Mr. President doing is that he is doing just that. The distractions maybe there, the cynicism may be there but as we move forward step by step, block by block we will be moving in the interest of all Nigerians and for the good of all Nigerians of the present and generations to come.”
Meanwhile, the immediate past Special Adviser to the President on Media and Pubilcity, Ima Niboro handed over to Mr. Abati soon after the swearing-in ceremony stating that though he was leaving with mixed feelings, he was however happy that he was handing over to a competent successor.
