If this APC presidential campaign team doesnt jolt PDP to sit up then, nothing else will. This is the only thing this APC Govt has gotten right so far ( for machiavellian reasons) and it had to do with power retention.

Apart from the heavy hitters on that list, the inclusion of Dangote and Otedola, asides campaign donor reasons, is a clear attempt at trying to woo Corporate Nigeria- trying to tell the stock market mandarins that they will be fine- their interests would be taken care of; they neednt panic.

The list reads like a who is who in Nigerian politics- most were PDP members anyway. They included fund raisers in that PCC with CEO' s/Heads of money spinning Ministries/Agencies to cough out campaign funds- the likes of Fashola, Bala Usman & Amaechi come to mind.

Between these three, their signatures ensure the financial statements of more than 7000 contractors (with cummulative FG contract funds of more than $100billion annually) stay black, not red

They broke down their campaign council into key new directorates differrnt from what has always existed before- Election planning and monitoring became a directorate( thats the unit to rig the election) headed by fashola, a serving minister, they created a directorate for Buhari support groups( another masterstroke) carved out of contact n mobilization and also created a directorate for field operations(out of same contact and.mobilization) headed by Nuhu Ribadu.

Serving Governors have personal battles to fight as per re election, so none of their zonal coordinators is a sitting Governor, none.

They thoughtfully made all their Governors state coordinators( a corresponding position PDP has not filled till now), meaning so long as you are campaigning for your neck within your state you are also campaigning for PMB- dont worry about zonal anything.

PDP zonal coordinators, all first term Governors all seeking relection have to traverse 6 states to keep up with their zonal mandate to the Presidential campaign organization too, the PDP DG a sitting Senate president battling re election. By contrast, the PMB DG, is a jobless minister(for now) with all the time in the world to prosecute a campaign even across Africa.

They have so burdened Akpabio with campaign positions that it seems he is now the starboi, the CRonaldo of the Nigerian political space-such that it seems they were envying PDP all the while he was in opposition. Tried to give middle belt a sense of belonging by appointing Sen Akume, a Benue politician, and not a Hausa Fulani the man to lead the campaign of a Fulani President in the entire North.

And then the master stroke, making Asiwaju BAT the co chair of campaign council above and ahead of the the Vice President and even party Chair, making him almost equal to a sitting President in terms of electoral nous, further assuaging a key segment of the voting population they expect to bring thr swing vote.

On this- the composition of this campaign team, they got right for all cloak and dagger, machiavellian reasons. Apart from personnel, the structure and compostion of this campaign organ was spot on.

I guess politicking/retaining power is more important than governance, thats why the cabinet that took 6months in being formed was so lack lustre and has failed to deliver but the campaign to ensure power returns to the cabal has been so well thought out.
