Some folks would say moderation is key. However, studies have shown that drinking alcohol could affect the health of your baby. How? Did you know that the same am0ount of alcohol that gets into your bloodstream also finds its way7 into your breast milk? Oh yes, it does. And because your baby is small and has a relatively small and immature liver she can’t process alcohol as well as you can. Findings from research have shown that alcohol can affect how well your baby eats or sleeps. One of the side effects is your baby not getting their much-needed rest. What I mean is, they sleep for a short time. obviously, that is not a good report to take to the doctor even for a grown person, how much more a baby. Growth for babies whose mothers drank at least one glass of wine or beer daily is usually stunted. So depending on how much consumption of hard drinks, a child’s growth could be delayed. Breastfeeding mothers are advised to try as much as possible to not drink at all, at least until their baby is 3 months old. At this stage, the baby would have developed to a point where the presence of alcohol in the breast milk won’t be as harmful as it would have been prior to that time. More preferable is to abstain from alcohol altogether to avoid any complications. Stay healthy! Source: www.healthcredo.com

Someone once asked in a therapy session if it’s normal to feel anxious and the answer was a simple yes. It is perfectly normal for us to feel anxious at one time or another because we are human beings and anxiety is an emotion. However, if we feel anxious over nothing easily or feel anxious over something persistently then we have an issue on our hand. There are many differnt symptoms of anxiety – all of which do not mean well for our health. These include feeling irritated, inability to concentrate on something, nervousness, impatience and even fatigue. Some of the ways to reduce stress and clamp down on anxiety are: Mind/body techniques The mind-body relationship plays an important role here. If your mind gets worried easily, your body can bail it out by engaging in certain exercises. Among such exercises are meditation, yoga, physical exercise, breathing exercise, positive thinking, and self-hypnosis. Aromatherapy This involves the use of certain essential oils to reduce tension and anxiety. These plant oils have been known to have what it takes to make people relax despite their clogged and worried state. The essential oils include sandalwood, rose, melissa, neroli, geranium, jasmine, lavender, and cypress. These can be added to bathes or massage oils. A cataract is an eye illness in which the reasonable focal point of the eye gets to be shady or murky, bringing about a decline in vision. In spite of the fact that the word cataract to portray this condition has been a piece of the English dialect since just the fifteenth century, the eye infection has been perceived and surgically treated since old times. anatomy-of-the-eye The focal point is a part of the eye that is typically clear. It centers beams of light entering the eye onto the retina, the light-touchy tissue at the back of the eye. Keeping in mind the end goal to get a reasonable picture onto the retina, the parts of the eye before the retina, including the focal point, must be clear and straightforward. The light striking the retina starts a synthetic response inside the retina. The concoction response, thus, starts an electrical reaction which is brought to the mind through the optic nerve. The mind then translates what the eye sees. In an ordinary eye, light goes through the straightforward focal point to the retina. The focal point must be clear for the retina to get a sharp picture. In the event that the focal point is overcast from a cataract, the picture striking the retina will be hazy or mutilated and the vision will be foggy. The degree of the visual unsettling influence is needy upon the level of darkness of the focal point. Most cataracts are identified with maturing. Cataracts are normal for old people. By age 80, more than half of all Americans either have some level of cataract or have as of now experienced cataract surgery in one or both eyes. By age 95, this rate increases to nearly 100%. A cataract can happen in either or both eyes. People with a cataract in one eye more often than not go ahead to build up a cataract in the other eye also. A cataract is not infectious and can’t spread from one eye to the next or from individual to individual. Cataracts don’t bring about the eye to tear strangely. They are neither difficult nor make the eye bothersome or red. Despite the fact that vision can be restored in most people with cataracts, age-related cataracts are still the most widely recognized reason for blindness globally, principally in light of the fact that some underdeveloped countries need suitable and accessible surgical administrations. As life expectancy increases in the developed world because of present day innovation and new techniques for treatment of intense and endless illness, the occurrence of age-related cataracts will keep on increasing. Menopause refers to a period in a woman’s life when she is no longer able to give birth to a child. It signals the transition from being productive to not being productive. There is no specific time for this to happen, some people experience it earlier than others. Studies have shown, however, that most women experience it around the age of 51. Menopause does not just happen suddenly, it is a gradual process that could take quite a long time before materialization. As much as menopause means that menstrual cycle is over (which could bring some sort of relief to women) there are other concerns to grapple with during menopause. Number One concern – Weight gain It is not uncommon for women to add more weight after menopause; in fact, it is expected. Just like menopause, this occurs over a period of time. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute have submitted that women actually gain an average of five pounds during this period. If this is not checked it could pose a serious health risk to women, so it is advised that healthy lifestyle engagements such as exercises are continued beyond menopause. Number two concern – Bone loss The loss of bone and similar ailments such as osteoporosis are comm0on in women over the 50 age mark. This loss of bone mass could begin around the age of 35, and this may contribute to osteoporosis – a situation in which the bones become weak and are likely to break. There is a hormone that is responsible for keeping the bones strong, it is called estrogen. Menopause signals the end of the production of this hormone by the ovaries. This affects bone health. Number 3 concern – Sleep problems The drop in progesterone and estrogen during menopause causes sleep problems. Nighttime hot flashes could get in the way of sleep at night. To tackle this, a moderately hot bath could help ease you into sleep each night. Also, following a routine sleep-wake schedule is advisable. Source: www.healthcredo.com

There is a fine line between good food and nutritional food, unfortunately, not many people are able to draw this distinction. This may be as a result of the lack of exposure to healthy food information or people deciding not to heed nutritional facts. Fact is, the kind of foods we eat and how we eat it has a bearing on our health and performance. There is a people who live on Okinawa Island, quite a number of them live more than a 100 years. Research has shown that this is owing to their deep insights on the nutritional benefits of foods around them and their adherence to certain eating techniques. What kinds of foods do they eat? Low-calorie diets that contain rich nutrients, are low in fat and sugar, but high in protein; they also eat lots of greens and fruits.
