AgricultureRe: Cucumber Farming In Nigeria – How To Start The Business by pamdaniel(m): 2:07pm On Mar 07, 2017
nicely written! but too much grammar for the non grammar individuals. for the common village farmer's understanding, cucumber farming is very lucrative and short time to yield, within 40- 50days you are already smiling to the bank, I am a practical cukes farmer and I am happy I am, if you are considering what to plant this season cucumber is the best option.
for a hecter of farm land you would need 24,000 seeds.
a hecter is 15plots
15plots ÷24,000 seeds= 1600 seeds on a plot of land.
hybrid seeds come in 5grams, 10grams and 50grams....
on each 5gram u have 200seeds, plus minus...
so u would be needing 40- 50 grams for a plot...

A suggestion worthy of serious consideration
yes it would seem strange to some denominations, but truth be said, some catholic parishes, seminaries, monasteries and convents have large farms, some are into fishery, poultry, piggery etc... the youths of the church are also empowered through these means... I know of the Seat of Wisdom Seminary Owerri farms is a center of escussion right now... I agree with the op. if government can introduce schemes that could set up agricultural outlets for educational purpose using the different churches as the pivot point of dissemination, I remember responding to a priest who invited me to teach his youths cucumber and watermelon farming and today they are really doing good as a parish and as individuals, I support the motion!

Hello people. I have a question. What is the cause of water melon fruit breaking up on the farm(see the attached pictures) and the solution/prevention?

cc: MAGNAM, palmdaniel, etc
there are few reasons why ur watermelon could blotch 1. erratic watering... there is a particular point in time when u don't water regularly as usual... solution is to learn times to water more and when to water less... 2. there are species of watermolon that are prone to blotching, they have tiny skin and can burst at all times...3. when the weather is much hot and the temperature boils the water in the melon it could result to bursting... solution to this is mulching...
the solution to all this is to study your environment and plant species that are proper for the environment, bear in mind also that there are hybrid seeds that suit the dry season and those that suit the raining season... having this knowledge could prevent lots of damage... long live agriculture in the Republic of Nigeria

Great fortunes are yet to be mined from the world of agriculture, especially down here in our Nigerian world, agriculture remains the sustaining power of mans existence though many feel it to be a profession for the poor. Rome lost its world power when it left hay, farming if well managed can give you over 600%- 700% profit. I am a specialist in cucumber and I have taken it upon myself to teach, train and to educate Nigerians on the fortunes found in these vegetables so loved by all, this seminar has been held in IMO state, Aba, Enugu, Abeokuta and now I have decided to face my benevolence to Abuja... I would teach u easy ways to plant cucumber and within 36 days harvest has commenced, and not only that your income is sure but you would join in the charity of feeding the nation. I shall deliver to u species that you can harvest 5 to 6 times before your cukes wilt away... watermelon is another fortune hidden in secrets I shall unravel for you... no to much words on the potency of these crops, but those interested in the cultivation of these crops should book a space. free test run seeds would be given to u at the seminar ground and handouts too would be given... fee: #7500 fees to be paid at the venue. for more inquiries call 08068018201. only 30 spaces needed don't be left out. Date 25/2/2017 Saturday. time: 11am
keep the calls coming, for your enquiries and space booking, 08068018201

what u stand to gain planting 10grams of cucumber... how many seeds are there in a 10gram pack of cucumber =480 seeds - 500 seeds.
