Report: Sara Netanyahu demanded F-35 escort for PM’s plane upon return from US visit

Two Israeli Air Force jets were scrambled to escort Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plane last month when he returned from a visit to the United States, after his wife Sara demanded as much, reportedly fearing an attempt to shoot down the plane in retaliation for the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah the day before.

According to the Walla news site, the Air Force’s decision to assign two F-35 fighter jets to accompany the official Wing of Zion plane on the final leg of its journey from New York, where Netanyahu had addressed the UN General Assembly, was a compromise after the Prime Minister’s Office originally requested an escort for the entire length of the flight.

While the escort was purportedly granted due to fear of retaliation from the Hezbollah terror group following the September 27 assassination of its leader in Beirut, Walla cited unnamed sources who alleged that the PMO’s request for an escort had been submitted days before the plane even departed Israel.
The initial request was denied by the Air Force, the sources alleged, and the matter was not brought up again until after Nasrallah was killed, at which point the PMO claimed that there was a real threat of Iran or Hezbollah targeting the Wing of Zion.

In his inaugural public statement broadcast on Wednesday, Hezbollah's newly appointed leader Naim Kassem declared that the group will persist in its conflict with Israel unless a cease-fire that meets their terms is proposed.

"If the Israelis decide to stop the aggression, we say that we accept, but according to the conditions that we see as suitable," Kassem articulated from a secret spot in a pre-recorded TV appearance. "We will not beg for a cease fire as we will continue (fighting)... no matter how long it takes."

A week from Election Day, the former president and the Republican National Committee appear to be laying the groundwork to challenge voting results if Trump loses. The former president did not wait for the results of the York and Lancaster county investigations before stoking fears on social media about allegedly fraudulent voter registration applications, even as Pennsylvania’s secretary of state asked the public for patience. And, in a separate instance, the RNC joined the Trump campaign in pushing claims of “voter suppression,” as election officials in the critical battleground pushed back.

Puerto Rican archbishop asks Trump to disavow remarks provoking ‘hatred’
Roberto Octavio Gonzalez Nieves, the Catholic archbishop of San Juan, Puerto Rico, has called on Trump to reject the remarks of a comedian who provoked “sinister laughter” and “hatred” towards the US territory at Trump’s rally on Sunday night.

“Puerto Rico is not a floating island of garbage. Puerto Rico is a beautiful country, inhabited by a beautiful and noble people,” the archbishop said in a letter addressed to the former president and shared on social media.

“I call upon you, Mr Trump, to disavow these comments, as reflecting in any way your personal or political viewpoints,” he said.

“It is important that you, personally, apologise for these comments.”

NEW YORK (AP) — President Joe Biden slammed Elon Musk for hypocrisy on immigration after a published report that the Tesla CEO once worked illegally in the United States. The South Africa-born Musk denies the allegation.

“That wealthiest man in the world turned out to be an illegal worker here. No, I’m serious. He was supposed to be in school when he came on a student visa. He wasn’t in school. He was violating the law. And he’s talking about all these illegals coming our way?” Biden said while campaigning on Saturday in Pittsburgh at a union hall.

The Washington Post reported that Musk worked illegally in the country while on a student visa. The newspaper, citing company documents, former business associates and court documents, said Musk arrived in Palo Alto, California in 1995 for a graduate program at Stanford University "but never enrolled in courses, working instead on his startup. ”

Investors in Musk’s company, Zip2, were concerned about the possibility of their founder being deported, according to the report, and gave him a deadline for obtaining a work visa. The newspaper also cited a 2005 email from Musk to his Tesla co-founders acknowledging that he did not have authorization to be in the U.S. when he started Zip2.
