The UK is moving closer to China than to the United States.

As we can see, relations among Western countries are becoming shaky.
The question worth asking is: who would win if the EU declared war on the United States over

Foreign AffairsStu-pid Military Coup Foiled In Nigeria by panafrican(op): 5:13am On Jan 28
They wanted to take over, citing “low wages” as an excuse—as if we haven’t heard that before. Pathetic.

What haven’t we seen in Nigeria already?

Abacha claimed he was coming to “clean up the system,” but he ended up creating more chaos than anyone else before him. After his death, over 75 million U.S. dollars were recovered from his residence when soldiers searched the property. He also killed Ken Saro-Wiwa for absolutely no justifiable reason.

Like it or not, Nigeria is on the right track for choosing a peaceful, democratic system of transition. Presidential terms are limited to two terms, each lasting four years.

So what exactly do people want?

If you do not like Tinubu, then wait for the next election and vote him out.

Nigeria: Soldiers face trial for alleged Tinubu coup plan

Nigeria's military will try several officers over an alleged plan to oust President Bola Tinubu last year, it said Monday, acknowledging a plot the government had initially denied.

In October, the military said 16 officers had been arrested over "issues of indiscipline".

Despite official denials, sources across the Nigerian government and military had told AFP they were arrested over a coup plot.

If successful, this would have brought an end to a quarter-century of democracy in Africa's most populous country.

"The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) wishes to inform the general public that investigations into the matter have been concluded," Major General Samaila Uba, a spokesman for the Defence Headquarters, said in a statement on Monday.

"The findings have identified several officers with allegations of plotting to overthrow the government," he said.

"Those with cases to answer will be formally arraigned before an appropriate military judicial panel to face trial."

No date was given for the trials. The officers could face the death penalty if found guilty, according to legal experts.

Shortly after denying the alleged coup plot, Tinubu reshuffled the country's top military brass.

A senior administration official told AFP at the time: "Normally, when such a thing happens, it means there is a gap in intelligence. No leader would accept that."

General Christopher Musa was dropped as chief of defence staff in the shuffle, though he has since come back as defence minister.

- Government denials -

The West African country has seen several military takeovers in its history and spent much of the 20th century under junta rule after its independence from Britain.

It transitioned to civilian rule in 1999 and has had a democratic government since.

Hints of the affair first became public when Nigeria's Defence Headquarters issued a statement on October 4 about the arrest of 16 officers, citing cases of indiscipline and perceived career stagnation.

Reports of a foiled coup later appeared in the Nigerian press.

News around the alleged plot faded from view amid strong government denials and as the country was swept up in a diplomatic crisis, as US President Donald Trump criticised Nigeria for allegedly not doing enough to protect Christians from violence.

The Nigerian military is fighting a long-running insurgency against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province in the northeast.

While the violence has waned since its peak a decade ago, attacks continue -- including deadly assaults on military bases -- seemingly with no end in sight.

Analysts warned of a rise in violence in 2025, while troops have at times reported unpaid wages and poor conditions.

The military is stretched thin on other fronts as well, including fighting armed gangs known as "bandits" in the northwest that kidnap for ransom, and separatists in the southeast.

The United States has since launched joint strikes against Islamic State Sahel Province militants in the northwest and pledged increased intelligence sharing to help Nigeria carry out air strikes across the north.

built for more than 60 years?
If the U.S. invades or uses proxies to take over, can the new regime hold the ground before the
massive et intensive guerilla warfare ?

Trump seeking ‘regime change’ in Cuba by end of the year: US media report.
United States President Donald Trump aims to remove Cuba’s leadership and is actively seeking government insiders in Havana who are willing to make a deal with Washington to “push out the Communist regime”, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.

The US newspaper, quoting unnamed US officials, reported on Wednesday that the Trump Administration does not have a “concrete plan” for Cuba, but that the recent abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by the US military was “left behind as a blueprint and a warning for Cuba”.

A US official told the newspaper that meetings have been held with Cuban exiles and civic groups in Miami and Washington, DC, in a bid to identify a government official in Cuba who might “want to cut a deal”.

Trump has also directly threatened Cuba, writing on his Truth Social platform earlier this month: “I strongly suggest they make a deal, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.”

David Smith, an expert in US politics and foreign policy at the University of Sydney’s US Studies Centre, told Al Jazeera that the White House may be “too optimistic” in thinking that threats alone will be enough to topple the Cuban government, which is led by President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

Foreign AffairsHow Many Tons Of Gold has Africa Stored In The U.S 's Vault ? by panafrican(op):
Then and now.
Are we going to keep doing the same thing?

-----------------------------------------------
Reasons for Storing Gold in the US
Security during Wartime: During World War I and especially World War II, many nations, particularly in Europe, transferred their gold to the United States to protect it from potential invasion or seizure. The U.S. was physically removed from the main conflicts and emerged from the wars with its infrastructure and gold reserves intact.

Bretton Woods System: The 1944 Bretton Woods Agreement established a new international monetary system where the U.S. dollar was pegged to gold at a fixed price of $35 per ounce, and other currencies were pegged to the dollar. This made the dollar the world's primary reserve currency and led to countries holding dollars ( which were "as good as gold" ) and storing their actual gold in the U.S. to facilitate this system.

Convenience and Efficiency: Under the gold standard and the Bretton Woods system, international balance of payments deficits were settled in gold. Storing large amounts of gold in a central, secure location like the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's vault made it much easier and less expensive to transfer ownership between countries' accounts with a simple book entry, rather than physically shipping gold across oceans.

Trust and Stability: The United States developed a reputation for political stability, a strong rule of law, and a robust financial system, making foreign central banks and governments confident in storing their assets there.

By 1947, the United States held approximately 70% of the world's gold reserves due to these factors and the massive transfer of wealth as other countries sold assets to finance their war efforts. While some nations have since repatriated portions of their gold, a significant amount remains stored in the New York Fed's vaults today for similar reasons of convenience and security.

Trump says "armada" of warships is headed toward Iran "just in case"
By Eleanor Watson
January 23, 2026 / 1:43 PM EST / CBS News

CBS News
President Trump said Thursday an "armada" of U.S. warships is headed toward the Middle East, as he continues to watch the Iranian regime's response to massive protests that began in late December.

"We have a lot of ships going that direction just in case," Mr. Trump said when he was asked by reporters on Air Force One where things stand with Iran. He said it was a "good sign" Iran had decided not to hang protesters, adding that "we have an armada heading that direction and maybe we won't have to use it."

The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and its escort ships were in the Indian Ocean as of Friday morning, according to defense officials. The carrier strike group brings about 5,000 sailors and Marines with squadrons of fighter jets, helicopters, and electronic attack aircraft.

The Lincoln was in the Pacific when the president first issued a warning on social media that the U.S. was "locked and loaded" to hit Iran if the regime killed anti-government protesters.

Since the demonstrations began, the Human Rights Activists in Iran), a U.S.-based non-governmental organization, estimates that more than 4,000 protesters have been killed so far and says that number is likely to rise.

After a certain point of nautical miles ( maybe 200 nautical miles. I'm not sure again) from shore a country has no claim over.
International waters put very crudely and for layman's understanding is like no man's land (or sea/water actually).

Foreign AffairsHistory: High-ranking Nazi Officials Never Captured by panafrican(op): 4:56am On Jan 18
While many high-ranking Nazi officials were tried at Nuremberg or captured by "Nazi hunters" in later decades, several prominent figures successfully evaded capture and were never brought to justice.
High-Ranking Officials Never Captured

Heinrich Müller "Gestapo Müller"
The most senior Nazi official to never be found or captured. As the chief of the Gestapo, he was a primary architect of the Holocaust. He was last seen in Hitler’s bunker on May 1, 1945. While some historians believe he died in Berlin and was buried in a mass grave at a Jewish cemetery, his remains have never been definitively identified, and rumors of his escape to the Soviet Union or South America persisted for decades.

Josef Mengele "The Angel of Death"
A physician at Auschwitz notorious for his horrific human experiments. He escaped to South America via "ratlines" in 1949 and lived under various aliases in Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil. Despite a massive international manhunt, he was never captured and died of a stroke while swimming in Brazil in 1979. His identity was only confirmed posthumously through DNA testing in 1992.

Alois Brunner
Adolf Eichmann’s "right-hand man" and commander of the Drancy internment camp, responsible for the deportation of over 100,000 Jews. He fled to Syria in 1954, where he lived under the alias Georg Fischer and reportedly advised the Syrian government on torture and security. He survived two Mossad parcel bomb attacks and is believed to have died of natural causes in Damascus around 2010.

Aribert Heim "Dr. Death"
An SS doctor at the Mauthausen concentration camp known for performing brutal experiments and torture on inmates. He lived as a doctor in Germany after the war until 1962, when he fled just before an arrest warrant was issued. He eventually settled in Egypt, converted to Islam, and lived under the name Tarek Hussein Farid until his death in 1992.

Hans Kammler:
An SS General responsible for the construction of gas chambers and secret weapons programs (such as the V-2 rocket). His fate remains one of the war's greatest mysteries; while reported dead in multiple locations in 1945, his body was never found, leading to theories that he was secretly recruited by the U.S. during Operation Paperclip.

Walter Rauff:
An SS officer who helped design the mobile gas vans used by the Einsatzgruppen. He escaped to Chile, where he lived openly under his own name and worked at a crab cannery. Chile repeatedly denied extradition requests from West Germany and Israel, and Rauff died a free man in Santiago in 1984.

Foreign AffairsRe: How Military Coups Became Africa’s New Normal by panafrican(m): 6:55am On Jan 14
The article is excessively long.
The primary reasons military coups have become increasingly common are as follows:

1. Disregard for constitutional term limits
Many so-called democratically elected presidents show little respect for constitutional term limits. They amend constitutions at will in order to secure third or even fourth terms in office. A notable example is Alassane Ouattara of Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), whose actions are widely viewed as unconstitutional. His government has been accused of widespread repression, including killings and imprisonment of political opponents, while enjoying strong backing from segments of the French political establishment.

In Guinea-Conakry, Alpha Condé completed his constitutionally mandated two terms. Rather than step aside, he altered the constitution, ran for a third term, and declared victory. This decision provoked widespread public anger and ultimately created the conditions that enabled his own security chief to overthrow him.

2. Corruption and failure to address national challenges
Another major factor is deep-rooted corruption and an inability to respond effectively to national crises. In Mali, the deposed president Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta was widely perceived as incompetent and corrupt. His administration appointed his son to head a government body responsible for procuring military weapons and equipment. Reports circulated on social media showing his son spending large sums of money in Europe while Malians were suffering displacement, hunger, and ongoing attacks by jihadist groups. During this period, poorly equipped Malian soldiers were being killed on the front lines.

A contrast: Nigeria and South Africa
By comparison, Nigeria and South Africa have performed relatively better. In Nigeria, President Goodluck Jonathan lost a national election and accepted the results without attempting to undermine the process or persecute electoral officials. He peacefully handed over power to Muhammadu Buhari. Buhari, in turn, completed his two terms, retired without controversy, and did not attempt to alter the constitution to extend his rule.

We are all talking about the U.S. raid in Venezuela, but the question we are not asking is this: how many African nations are considering the following?

What are our weaknesses in areas such as intelligence, drones, radar, and armed forces?

What are our strengths?

What types of research should we fund in our universities?

I would not be surprised if some people respond with ridicule. They forget that barefoot and poorly fed Vietnamese defeated both the French and the Americans, and that Afghan peasants defeated the British and later the Americans.

Foreign AffairsNigeria To Take Over Anti-jihadist Operations After US Christmas Strikes, A.news by panafrican(op): 1:56am On Jan 08
The Nigerian government officials should be cross-examined before a legislative oversight panel to explain why there has been limited progress in the fight against Boko Haram and ISIS-affiliated groups. Such an inquiry would aim to uncover underlying issues such as mismanagement of security funds, lack of coordination among security agencies, intelligence loopholes, or possible corruption within the defense sector.

The Nigerian air force will take over from the United States after Washington's Christmas Day strikes against jihadists, relying on American reconnaissance flights to support its own operations, a Nigerian official told AFP on Tuesday.

On Christmas night, the United States struck sites in Sokoto State, in northwestern Nigeria , against what they described as targets linked to the Islamic State group .

Although Nigeria remains open to further US strikes, the primary role of the United States will now be to provide intelligence, the source indicated, familiar with the new security agreement with Washington.

Africa's most populous country has been battling a jihadist insurgency since 2009, mainly concentrated in the northeast, while armed gangs known as "bandits" have gained a foothold in vast rural areas of the northwest and north-central parts of the country.

These strikes came after a diplomatic offensive that began in October, during which President Donald Trump claimed that the violence perpetrated by armed groups in Nigeria amounted to "persecution" and "genocide" of Christians — accusations rejected by Abuja and independent analysts.

Partnership
A few days before the strikes, the Nigerian Minister of Information had declared that the "dispute" had been resolved, "resulting in a strengthened partnership between America and Nigeria" .

For several weeks prior to the strikes, analysts had observed an intensification of US reconnaissance flights over Nigeria. These flights have continued since.

The New York Times , citing Pentagon officials speaking on condition of anonymity, recently reported that the US strikes were a "one-off event" .

Although they took place after Nigeria and the United States had at least partially buried the hatchet, these strikes caused headaches in Abuja when Trump unilaterally claimed credit for them.

In response, Nigerian Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar launched a media offensive, claiming it was a joint operation .

To further complicate matters, US officials remained largely unreachable until days before the strikes, before finally calling their Nigerian counterparts to present their plans, according to the source.

Racist immigrant Elon Musk has a plan and he has trouble hiding it.
That man immigrated to the US in the 1990s with a student visa. He did not spent more than 7 days at
the University were he registered. He dodged the program. Now he is the one
DEMONIZING immigrants.
Moreover he is in a deep state underground racist pro- Apartheid and pro-nazi movement whose only goal
is to infiltrate the US 's political spectrum , use the key figures , then undermine them and build a
base. Reason why he spent millions of dollars to support Trump, use the latter to make his own publicity, then
later wrote on social media that Trump's name was in the Epstein's files. T he mission was clear:
bring Trump down and use the republican party to recruit Neo-nazi, pro -apartheid white supremacist ( remember he lobbied to help thousands of White supremacist from South Africa to emigrate to the US).
Had he succeeded in bringing Trump down, he would have used his
money to buy some politicians to implement the hidden agenda.
But he failed.
He then tried to create a political party but Trump warned
him of dire consequences.

Now he is making a U turn to fund the political
campaigns of people running for congress. He needs them to pass
apartheid and neo-nazi laws, under the cover of the fight against
so-called "illegal immigrants".

The world in motion,
Yours to discover !

The next 72 hours are critical — not just for Venezuela, but for the world.
If the United States succeeds in imposing control over Venezuela — and by extension the world’s largest proven oil reserves — it would mark a major shift in global power.

This wouldn’t be about democracy or human rights.

It would be about reasserting strategic dominance over energy, trade routes, and regional alignments.
If that happens, Iran almost certainly moves to the top of Washington’s priority list.

Control over Venezuelan oil would dramatically reduce U.S. vulnerability to disruptions in the Persian Gulf. It would give Washington a buffer against supply shocks if a confrontation with Iran escalates.
In simple terms:

If Gulf infrastructure gets hit, the economic pain is lower.
Lower pain means higher tolerance for escalation.

That also means more leverage over global oil flows and pricing, reinforcing the dollar’s role in energy markets and helping preserve the petrodollar system that underpins U.S. financial power.

At that point, Venezuela stops being a regional issue.
It becomes a strategic precedent — proof that economic pressure, political engineering, and force can be used to restructure sovereign states and reshape the global balance of power.
But there’s another path — and it’s just as important.

If the U.S. gets bogged down in Venezuela, faces sustained resistance, or drifts into a prolonged crisis, the equation flips.
Political capital drains.
Military and economic resources stretch thin.
Power projection elsewhere weakens — especially in the Middle East.
That would also complicate strategic planning for Israel, whose security posture is closely tied to U.S. leverage in the region.

What happens in Venezuela will not stay in Latin America.
It will shape the future of energy control, the limits of American power, and the direction of global confrontation — far beyond Caracas.

You left out the most important part; land mass.

UAE is 86,300 km² while Saudi Arabia is 2,150,000 km²

Land mass makes a lot of difference because nations with small land mass have the assets concentrated in small area whereas countries with large land mass have it spread over large areas which will make it more difficult and costly to attack while each successful attack on countries with small land mass wreaks more havoc. That played out in the US-Isreal war against Iran as each of Iran's successful missile strike on Israel caused more destruction and forced Trump to quickly beg for a ceasefire.

Saudi Arabia should never have been compared to UAE in the first place.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is a counter -example , in the war with Rwanda. The figures show the DRC's area is 89 times larger than Rwanda.

DRC : 2.345 million square kilometers (about 905,000 square miles-)
Rwanda : 26,338 square kilometers (10,169 square miles).
