Religion / Re: 2-year-Old Girl Preaching At Christ Embassy In Kenya by pantheon: 5:09pm On Sep 13, 2012
The poor girl has clearly been brainwashed (like every other follower in the church) from such a young age and doesn't understand what she's saying. Africans and religion.. it's so sad.

Health / Re: Sleeping Paralysis: Share Your Experience by pantheon: 9:27am On Sep 11, 2012
There's an interesting short film about Sleep Paralysis called Dead Pretty. From my knowledge it's a condition in which you feel trapped in your body and hallucinate that you're in danger and things are happening around you.

Career / Re: Why Does The Rich Get Richer But Poor Is The Reverse by pantheon: 7:59pm On Sep 04, 2012
I was just reading this today:
1. Average people think MONEY is the root of all evil. Rich people believe POVERTY is the root of all evil.
2. Average people think selfishness is a vice. Rich people think selfishness is a virtue.
3. Average people have a lottery mentality. Rich people have an action mentality.
4. Average people think the road to riches is paved with formal education. Rich people believe in acquiring specific knowledge.
5. Average people long for the good old days. Rich people dream of the future.
6. Average people see money through the eyes of emotion. Rich people think about money logically.
7. Average people earn money doing things they don't love. Rich people follow their passion.
8. Average people set low expectations so they're never disappointed. Rich people are up for the challenge.
9. Average people believe you have to DO something to get rich. Rich people believe you have to BE something to get rich.
10. Average people believe you need money to make money. Rich people use other people's money.

Career / Re: How Can I Get Sponsor For My New Radio Program by pantheon: 2:13am On Aug 27, 2012
@violent (scary name) It's a more concise way of advertising - your company or product becomes synonymous with the show and you build up your brand name. If the poster specifies what topic or interest area it is - for instance a show aimed at women about fitness, the ideal sponsor would be a beauty or health related company. What she has given out so far is too vague for anyone to work with though, @kolykoldy would like more details

Career / Re: How Much Can I Earn As A Musician(playing Musical Instrument) In Nigeria by pantheon: 7:28pm On Aug 26, 2012
This is a tough career choice anywhere in the world and in somewhere like Nigeria, you'll be really lucky indeed to make a living as a musician. What instrument(s) do you play?

A lot of it is to do with the mindset and what people do with the money they have, this is not a comprehensive answer by any means but it's because poor people don't have experience of wealth management, they tend to spend their money on high value things that cannot be classified as an asset. For instance a poor person who suddenly got rich is more likely to buy a brand new car, which will start losing its value as soon as it's driven out of the dealers' while a rich person with experience of these things will know it makes more sense to buy a fairly used car. The same goes for designer clothes etc. They emulate celebs but the fact is that any decent celeb does not spend thousands of pounds on an outfit they'll only wear once - they get it for free or loaned.

Nairaland / General / Re: Scammed By A Fellow Nigerian Via Ebay UK by pantheon: 5:30pm On Aug 23, 2012
That reply is shocking. I hope you've reported him to eBay? Maybe this guy can help: https://www.nairaland.com/394487/those-been-scammed-catch-scammer
Maybe tell him the phone is his if he can get hold of that thief. If you don't have the heart for trouble just let it go. Karma will eventually catch up with him.
The worst part is that you can't even leave bad feedback for buyers on eBay these days - as the customer is always right!

It's really disheartning that you experienced a scam from another Nigerian in Lagos, as we're the ones here taking all the rap for their actions. With future transactions - whether locally or internationally, always make sure you actually log in to your paypal account after you receive a payment confirmation. I always transfer the payment into my bank account before sending any goods or at least log in and see that there is indeed a payment. Even if you were not scammed, you could have been paid with an e-cheque which is quite frustrating as it takes 5-7 working days to clear before you can even transfer it to your own bank account. If someone cancels an e-cheque midway through the transaction you can equally find yourself at a loss, which is why you should transfer funds to your own account before posting. Another thing, @Booty4me it doesn't matter what email address you think the notification came from, people can easily clone a 'from' email address and appear to be sending an email from service@paypal.com when they're not.
Travel / Which are the most rural areas in Nigeria? by pantheon: 5:45pm On Aug 19, 2012
Which areas do you consider to be the most rural/unmodernised areas in Nigeria? I'm looking to do a photographic tour of Nigerian states and would really appreciate your inputs.
Travel / Re: How Many States Have You Visited In Nigeria? by pantheon: 11:14pm On Aug 17, 2012
I don't mean to derail the thread but I would really appreciate a response to this queston: From visiting these areas, which parts strike you the most visually? Which states are mostly free of modernisation - houses, tarmaced roads and fancy cars?
