To be candid the woes of rohr started the moment he tried to accommodate nacho in the lineup playing nacho as an attacking midfield then you need a very solid midfield to cover up for his workrate; cos he won't contribute nothing defensively and he won't press from the front: but be rest assured attack wise he will create chances even score goals, Tunisian were very smart they saw this loopholes and really outsmarted us; they knew if they let us play from the wings, we are gonna be too strong for them; that's was why the forced play from the midfield cos they know for sure we are one man short in the midfield; and they exploited that very well. Moving forward as a team; if we are gonna be accommodating nacho in the midfield then we need to switch to a diamond shaped 4-4-2 you play nacho as AMF with Ndidi sitting deep aribo and onyeka playing the advance role; playing this kind of formation will even make us toothless offensively compared to the traditional double pivot midfield, but defensively we will be strong had it been eguavoen did this immediately second half yesterday; then we would have repeled the attack against our midfield successful and likely won't have faced the iwobi red card issues; the technical crew have alot of works to do; they need to active not passive or reactive to opposition tactics oh God!! I trust my Thomas tuchel grin grin.

If nwakali played yesterday, we would have sent special forces to look for him on the field, shishi e no go play, we are celebrating the fact he had the highest chances against guinea bissau (celebration of mediocrity), guinea bissau that plays gidigbo football with zero sense, should that be a reason to play against Tunisia; that particular game his poor workrate was obvious,we saw how he contributed nothing to the defense, zero workrate in the midfield he was just spamming crosses and passes,I was laughing deep down in my heart, when people thought Tunisia is a walkover team grin;Tunisia is one of the most organized team in Africa and to crown they have a good technical crew, since they don shut that Simon; I already there was gonna be a problem, eguavoen saw he needed energy in the midfield to overrun them, they even tried all their might to repel iwobi will all his pace and mobility, try put nwakali 2 minutes you wont see him on the field no caps we did well, Tunisia studied our game very well, even if Kante enter yesterday we go still chop am.
Make all of una dey try take L in peace jaree
E dey funny una wan play nwakali and ihenacho for the same midfield una no dey fear grin e be like you wan kill Ndidi, even nacho sef we dey manage his poor workrate

It's moments like these that validate Mourinho. It's moments like these that make him look like a world class coach even if he's probably not.

Manchester United got rid of him because of style of play, even after winning the UEL. Where are they now?

If you want to play sweet attacking football, you need the right set of players.

Let me tell you something; The Super Eagles did not win those three matches because of any tactics. No, they won because Nigerians underrated them. Check the history, we perform best when our people doubt us. That way the players feel like they have something to prove.

Prior AFCON 2019, Ighalo said something during an interview. He said he loves it when people doubt him because it serves as some sort of motivation to prove them wrong. He went on to become the highest goal scorer in that tournament.

But once the praises start coming in, we press the self delete button. Our major problem is that evil spirit of over confidence that has plagued almost every Nigerian team I know of.

I hope we've learnt our lesson.

Fvckk who you think you are. Fvckk your sense of entitlement. Put your pride in the trash bin and play football. Football is a game of 11 men against 11 men. African teams no dey look face again. Everywhere is dry. Boys need to make a name for themselves. If you slip up, the hyenas will takeover.

Who am I kidding? We are not gonna learn shhiiit. We'll probably end up making the same mistakes again.

I'm done with my rant.

*drops mic* angry

Same mistake.

An Ndidi-Onyeka-Aribo MF won't be able to orchestrate plays through the middle or switch plays at will. Una no dey learn. But it's fine. Keep judging football based on where player A plays or where Player B features while you ignore the actual and specific skillsets of the lads involved.

Una no dey ever Learn. grin
oga forget that your orchestrating abi orchestra

In modern football creativity mustn’t come from the middle, aribo is creative enough to provide chances for the team and his assist rate since he joined rangers is testament to this claim. Also he had an assist in the competition as well

Na una hunger of fancy football all the time put eguavoen for pressure to make u guys happy

In knock out stages of competitions against certain oppositions you need to play dirty if required to come top

We were better than the Tunisians who had only one shot on target but utilized it so where is your team now with the dozen of chances created and impressive possession stat?

How can you call a win that was due to goalkeeping error mean they outclassed the SE ...

The SE weren't outclassed , their performance was below par compared to what they played in the group stages.
which keeping error are you talking about? That was a swerved low rocket which will expose a lot of keepers. Am not trying to make a case for okoye but many goalies will be expose by that low drive

Also the midfield and defense didn’t provide any cover

Bros that game was won tactically by the Tunisians and from the very start of the game their game plan was obvious which is to hit us on counter

A tactical superior team doesn’t mean he will take over possession entirely but the work but in place when with the ball and off it as well

They carried their game plan perfectly by clipping our wings and wait for us on counter through the middle after noticing we normally hv only 2 players in that part of the pitch
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Papi85: 1:31pm On Jan 24, 2022
From our first game to the last our midfield have been thin and I knew it will be exposed when we meet a tactically sound opposition

In our games you will find out that ndidi and aribo do the work of breaking play and linking the middle and the forward while iheanacho ghosts around waiting for the ball to fall to his feet

Football nowadays are won in the middle and anything with a superior midfield has the upper hand mostly in games

Our best midfield trio in the competition would have been ndidi as a DM, Onyeka as a box/box midfielder then aribo as a 10 or 8. The reason I will pick aribo ahead of iheanacho is his ability to track back to help the team and also he is more mobile than iheanacho

Even I would prefer starting iwobi in the 10 role than iheanacho

Iheanacho is a lovely player but off the ball he offers nothing.

The reason we saw the best of aribo and ndidi in this competition is because both were over worked and stressed

But shun aribo na luxury abeg, that guy na rolls Royce of a midfielder and I can’t wait for him to make the big leap to the epl as rumoured

So going forward what do u suggest concerning who takes over?
i suggest eguavoen to continue but he has to be tactically flexible and alert if he has it

Our next game is against Ghana which will take place in March so I think we do not have enough time to change coaches

Eguavoen should only continue if his never going to play the "inferiority complex" football we saw.... That's why people are angry...

he must also start with a midfield of Aribo, Onyeka and Ndidi in every starting eleven with Iwobi, Nwakali and Bonke as replacements.

then Ejuke should replace Chuks in the starting eleven then Onyekuru, Olayinka, Ebuehi, Aina should be ahead of Chuks on the bench..
nothing like inferiority complex in the teams play, they were only outclassed tactically

Also subbing chukwueze for Chidera wouldn’t hv made any difference because both are similar

A case where the to flank players deployed were caged by the Tunisians what eguavoen needed was to instruct Moses Simon to dribble less and tuck in to the middle a bit then bring in an iwobi for chukwueze who naturally loves to drift to the middle from the flank to link up play with the forwards

An Onyeka pairing ndidi will automatically block the Tunisians from penetrating through the middle while aribo will be deployed as the teams AM and instructed to be present in the oppositions box when ever the team is attacking as well as track back to thicken the middle when the team losses possession

PurpleHouse:
He should have started with the high press, benched Nacho for Iwobi, and bring Moses in second half as they were surely going to cage him.

That's the error.

But all good. What's done is done.
iheanacho as a number 10 makes the midfield thin

Iwobi would hv started against Tunisia because he drops deep when required as well as links up play with the forwards better

The team gave their all but eguavoen was tactically outclassed by the Tunisians

When he found out his talisman was double marked the ideal tactical twist would hv been to push aribo to the number 10 position, bring in an Onyeka to join ndidi at the middle then iwobi for chukwueze

Our flanks wey clipped by the Tunisians so an iwobi for chukwueze would hv yielded better result because the former drifts into the middle more and has the ability to create something from that position as well

Iwobi drifting to the middle from the flanks would hv destabilized the Tunisians whereas creating room for aina to bomb forward

It’s was just tactics that won the game for the cartage eagles

Shebi we want attacking football, finally we don get am cheesy

Not saying that rohr is better than eguavoen but the German wouldn’t hv lost to this Tunisian team

it is better for them to be the ones to reach out same way Ashleigh Plumptre reached out, not all foreign borns identify with the country of their parents.

Nigeria also has a huge number of Nigerian born players to choose from...

the inferiority complex that made you say "You cannot wait until they start making waves and hope that by some dumb luck they will look your way. You will have to settle for the average ones."...

why can't they be "making waves" and still express their desire to play for the SEhuh

You should add teenage sensation Carney Chukwuemeka. I thought Liverpool would have signed him last season when he destroyed thier U18 .

He had already played for the first team at this stage.

Now he has hooked Villa he has not renewed contract and now all the big boys want him including Bayern Munich.
I know carney and hv seen him play but I think we don’t stand a chance getting him

He might be loaned out though ,just as the Percy tau case with Brighton
he needs to play close to 75% of the teams competitive games in a calendar year to qualify to play in England unless he is rated as a special talent which I doubt

Best bet is to sign and loan him to another league out of England

Meanwhile, you people are really a force on Paraga's Twitter. Once Nigerians see one of us that deserves a Twitter Verification, if you see the clamour for verification badge. Once the person posts, Nigerians will just start tagging the verification handle and threatening them to verify the person. They did it with Osimhen and he was verified, then, Eguaveon, he was verified in days, they also did it for Maduka, he is now verified.
