As much as I'm not in support of renaming something that has already been named after an individual, especially a well deserved one like Tai Solarin, it seems it was the Ogun Assembly that first agreed to this while the Awujale was alive a few years ago according to this.

Tai Solarin University is different from Tai Solarin college of education. Tai Solarin University of Education at Ijagun is not the same as Tai Solarin college of education, they are two different institution.
