But that, again, is a digression. My main point however is that as creators, even as human as we are, we are proud when what we create gets even better especially without our help - kind of the way our parents only give us a foundation but are very proud of us when we do more by ourselves than what they gave us. How would you look at a parent that's angry that their child is progressing and improving without their help? Exactly, so why would you think a God that truly loves you and wants you to be happy would be miffed that you're getting ahead just fine without his explicit help?

Of course, some would come up with the argument that such new advancements in law, government, communication and technology are being used in sinful ways and are thus evil or wrong. I would normally respond with a treatise on the meaning of sin, who defines sin and how none of us has actually ever seen the gods in the various religions to confirm if they are pleased or indeed displeased with certain things some of us have come to consider to be sinful. However, that's a digression and a topic for a whole other day. Right now, instead, I'd point out that none of these things are intrinsically sinful as they can be used for subjectively and objectively right or wrong reasons.

Take the computers, internet, social media and mobile phones, the victims of much of the outcries in various places of worship for being the architects of modern evil. Sure, they may be media for spreading of pornography and fake news which, depending on what school of thought you belong to, may be considered bad things and I really can't count how many times I've heard people preach against them. However, the same internet is what a lot of religious bodies use to broadcast their messages, phones are used for communication for religious purposes, computers are also used by the religious for purposes directly related to their religion and there's barely any religious groups right now without social media accounts. Seems pretty hypocritical to bash on the very same things you're using to bash on the very same things you use.

I've noticed a running theme with any changes across human history; be it technological, in government, law, communication and interaction etc. It's usually that while a certain group of people are all for doing things in new ways, championing new causes and ideas and changing the old order, there are always those who would insist that the change is wrong. I'll give an example: in today's world, means of communication without physical presence like phone calls, text messages and the internet are practically ubiquitous. Same goes for methods of sharing information with a large group of people at the same time. However, there is usually a set of people who are thoroughly convinced that all of this is evil and that God would not want such because from the various creation stories, these things were not there at creation so definitely, they were not God's intention for man.

However, let's take a step back and examine that thought. Most religions agree that God is good, that God is knowledgeable, that God loves man and that God wants the best for man. Now, for all of this to hold true, then it is counterintuitive to think that God does not want man to progress and wants to keep man in his primitive state.

Let's take an analogy. Imagine you're a loving, knowledgeable teacher that loves your students and wants them to live long and prosper. Now you see your students creating new things and more complex things than they started off with. Can you in all good conscience say that you love them and you want the best for them if you are angry that they are advancing? Because if you are so angry, then you really would be like those lecturers in school who seemed to always feel they are in some sort of power struggle with their students and never want their students to look knowledgeable compared to them. And we all know how we felt about those guys
