You guys' responses are exactly why so many Nigerian kids are not as close to their parents as the should be. You guys are so consumed by your god complexes that you don't realize that your behaviour gradually alienates your kids and makes them even less likely to ask you for stuff. Be truthful to yourselves: most of you would rather ask your friends and colleagues for stuff before you ask your parents. How is that a healthy parent-child relationship? You guys have no idea what the difference is between a healthy relationship between parent(s) and child and disrespect. Later it's the same you guys that would be asking your kids "why didn't you ask me? Why did you ask other people and not me?" Continue perpetuating the same unhealthy dynamic with your own kids o. I hope it pans out well for y'all. |
12inchDickson:Bastard is the worst you can say? I'm disappointed. |
willy2000:How is asking someone to dishes a sign of disrespect? @bolded, exactly! So how do you know the girl is at fault if you admit the story is not complete? |
jeytee:And I've heard or rather, read, what your mind contains. Moving right on. |
Inception:If throwing insults is how you make your point, you can do better. If my kid asks me to do the dishes and I'm disposed to, then why not? What is so wrong with washing dishes? If the child was not there, wouldn't I still do the dishes myself? And yes, I can ask my parents to help me do the dishes because they're not insecure buttholes. |
babyfaceafrica:That shows the kind of relationship you have with your father. It's fine for you but you shouldn't expect everyone else to share the same. I mean, all these years, she clearly hasn't done anything that would warrant him stopping her fees but she asks him to wash his dishes ONE TIME and suddenly, she's a spoilt girl. And I certainly hope you're not the type of parent that would stop paying your kids fees because they ask you to do the dishes i.e, the kind of parent that's willing to ruin their child's life just to massage their bruised ego. |
Yujin:Again, if it's necessary, of course. See my problem with this our whole culture and tradition thing - it seems to serve little more than to give people reason to be angry about something. If he washed his dishes, would he suddenly drop dead or lose all his money. A father thhat loves his kids would not put his ego ahead of their well-being. He would also listen to and do what they ask if they make their request with respect and politely decline if it's something he can't do. It's insecure men that would go into a rage and start screaming disrespect. |
lilbest4:And you're a child with access to the internet. |
Yujin:If it's necessary to, I would. And if I'm the visiting friend and I'm asked to with respect, I wouldn't get offended either. |
The article even said she asked. Not commanded. Not shouted. Asked. How fragile is your ego that being asked to wash your own dish would make you stop paying your child's fees? From food she probably cooked and served him. Unless there is more to this story than we are being told, then I do not see any wrongdoing on her part. |
kunkelhanspeter:And I ask, what is wrong with it? What is there in washing plate that the man is too big to do? Plates that he'd still wash if he was living alone. But "oh, I have a daughter. I'm suddenly too big to do dishes" |
Inception:I did and I stand by it. This mentality that parents are gods that their kids can't make direct requests of or correct is part of the things ruining our country. Nobody is above washing dishes. Like what's there in washing dishes sef? You guys are not even talking about the manner she asked which was not specified. It's just asking a parent to wash their dish that's rude. I'm not so emotionally fragile as to have my ego be hurt by being asked to wash dishes by my kid. If my kid says "dad, I'm in a hurry to get somewhere. Could you please do this thing because I can't do it right now", then I'd do it if I'm disposed to. If I'm not, I'll explain right back and we figure out a way to resolve it. The same ego and anger many people's parents used to raise them is what they're using to raise their own kids. |
jeytee:If you think calling people names on the internet hurts, you have a lot of maturing to do. |
The funny thing is this article never explicitly said she was rude or said it in a manner that lacked respect. The article only implied from what was said that it must have been rude. What if she's busy and couldn't do his dishes and asked him to do it himself so dirty dishes wouldn't stay stinking up the kitchen. Besides, prior to this, she must have been doing his dishes so for her to ask him to do it himself, there has to be a context we aren't getting. But of course, in their haste to justify their regular bashing of feminism, Nigerian men are already here, because food done done for them. Talmbout the man has more responsibility so he shouldn't do dishes. Really? If he were single, who would do his dishes; his mother? And the child he has, did she decide to come on her own? Wasn't it his decision to have a child? So whose responsibility is she supposed to be again? And who says his wife is not supporting the family too? |

Interesting... The North seems to be transitioning from the older generation of political leaders to younger people at the state level. Took them long enough |
paxonel:Leave the wild animal |
donbachi:You proved her point exactly |
1) He's.....relatively young 2) No potbelly in sight 3) Suit fits him well Are you sure the guy in the picture is not a personal assistant to the former speaker? |
Looool, never think that Nigerians don't know ponzi schemes are scams. They know but they feel they understand the system and can outsmart it by "investing" early, cashing out and running away at the speed of light. Does it work? Yes, in some cases and for some people. Can you tell if it will work? Nope. That's because there's a critical point in every ponzi scheme: the point at which the runners of the scheme realize that it can't be sustained further and then disappear with all the remaining money which would still be a lot. This critical point is dependent on various factors and is, thus, very arbitrary, so ome ponzi scheme's critical point would be waaaay different from another's. |
Well, every event has a trigger. The trigger though is not necessarily human or deliberate. |
Shepherd00:I would like a better understanding of what you mean by "pushing it in your face" because I know most Nigerians that say this just mean "I just have a problem with you being gay and everything it means". Now another question: if you travel to a European or North American country and you're eating eba in public and a white guy walks up to you, visibly angry and accuses you of "pushing" your Nigerian culture in his face and making Nigerian culture look normal, would you be offended? |
Could you guys shut up about initial gragra. It's how you guys give them an excuse and a reason to fail |
OLAADEGBU:I'm not getting into that argument |
Unlike religions, most atheists' belief or (lack of) isn't tied to authority figures so....this would make no difference. In this particular setting, atheists typically are firm with the assertion that faith is personal. |
Please, how many black countries do you know that get earthquakes on a regular. Don't earthquakes typically humble people? This is the safest prophecy I've heard, next to "the sun will rise before 12 pm". |
xynerise:People like you |
jesusjnr2:Don't work na. It's vanity. Go hungry and broke. But clearly you don't want to do that because you would lose access to the internet you use to broadcast your insanity. Shioor. And your threads have less than 0 value. They take value away from this site, from religion and philosophy and from society in general. No wonder you've been banned severally. |
iammo:Nobody chose to be born |
![]() This dude spends more time thinking about gay people than being productive. Four threads on homosexuality he created and props up with his own comments. You nor get work? ![]() |
Melian:Leave those ones with their hate. They feel justified to dictae how others should live their lives, yet when other people try to dictate how they should live, they scream persecution. The hypocrisy stinks to the moon. |
For those saying "come in 3 years time" That's about how long the TBS station has been running. And it is still almost as good as new save for the normal wear that comes from seeing regular use. Clearly, when government fully intends to maintain it's property, it does so very well. |
