Paraman: The Federal Government has finally signed the ‘Designation and Protection of Critical National Information Infrastructure Order, 2024,’ 23 years after the country’s telecommunication revolution began.
Bosun Tijani, minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, disclosed this on Wednesday. He said, “I would like to appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the release of the official gazette, ‘Designation and Protection of Critical National Information Infrastructure Order, 2024.’”
This gazette now makes it an offence to purposefully damage assets such as telco towers/sites, switch stations, data centres, satellite infrastructure, submarine and fibre optic cables, transmission equipment, e-government platforms, and databases, among many others.

Politics › CBN records all-time high remittance inflows at US$553m for July 2024 by Paraman(op): 5:43pm On Aug 20, 2024 |
August 20,2024
PRESS RELEASE
CBN Reports All-Time High Remittance Inflows at US$553 Million for July 2024
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reported a significant increase in remittance inflows, reaching $553 million in July 2024, a 130 percent increase from the corresponding period in 2023. This figure represents the highest monthly total inflows on record and reflects ongoing efforts by the CBN to enhance liquidity in Nigeria's foreign exchange market.
The substantial growth in remittance receipts is attributable to policy measures introduced bythe CBN to enhance liquidity in Nigeria's foreign exchange market. These measures includegranting licenses to new International Money Transfer Operators (MTOs), implementing a willing buyer-willing seller model, and enabling timely access to naira liquidity for IMTOs.
Diaspora remittances are a crucial source of foreign exchange for Nigeria, supplementing bothsupportedforeign direct investment and portfolio investments. The CBN's initiatives have continued growth in these inflows, aligning with the institution's objective of doubling formalremittance receipts within a year.
The increase in remittances is a strong testament to the success of the CBN's ongoing efforts tobolster public confidence in the foreign exchange market, strengthen a robust and inclusive banking system, and promote price stability, which is essential for sustained economic growth.
Recent data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) revealed that Nigeria's year-on-year headline inflation rate slowed in July 2024, for the first time in 19 months - a clear indication that the CBN's monetary policy tightening measures are delivering results.
The CBN anticipates that these measures will contribute to achieving its broader objective ofmaintaining stability in the foreign exchange market. The Bank will continue to monitor market conditions and adjust policies as necessary to enable greater remittance flows into Nigeria.

Politics › FG Lights Up Two Edo Communities With Hybrid Mini-grid by Paraman(op): 3:21pm On Aug 20, 2024 |
The Federal Government commissioned two hybrid mini-grids with a total of 200kw capacity for Oloyan and Sule camp communities in Ovia South Local Government and Ovia North East of Edo State respectively on Monday. The project was undertaken by the Rural Electrification Agency. Olayan community gets 100kw of electricity after 21 years while the Sule camp community also gets 100kw after 30 years. Speaking during the commissioning, the REA Managing Director, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, said the mini-grid was one of many, being developed across the nation through the Federal Government’s Rural Electrification Fund. He said the Rural Electrification Fund remained a key mechanism of the Federal Government, designed to enable developmental impact in rural communities through the provision of sustainable energy access. Represented by the agency’s executive director, Doris Uboh noted that the rural communities were being held back across the nation due to the energy poverty in rural communities, which deserved a new lease of life. He said, “In citing the mini off-grid, REA took into consideration the economic viability of the community, including the critical agricultural activities seen across the community. “It is evident that our interventions in unserved and underserved communities are serving as catalysts to true sustainable development, in line with the objectives of the Federal government. The off-grid, renewable energy ecosystem in Nigeria will continue to be a driving force for the Nigerian economy,” he said. “The commissioning of the two mini-grid in Oloya and Sule camp communities brought to three the total mini-grid in the state, as one was commissioned in Adebayo community two years ago.” He said that a committee, made up of community members, has been constituted to take responsibility and also provide security for the project. He noted, “The agency focused on rural communities because the urban areas had received much attention while rural areas had been abandoned or neglected for too long. “The project is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda meant to focus on communities that had been neglected for long. The benefitting communities had been in existence for 21 and 30 years without electricity. On his part, the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, commended the agency for its commitment to bringing sustainable energy solutions to communities in the state. https://punchng.com/fg-lights-up-two-edo-communities-with-hybrid-mini-grid/?utm_source=telegram&utm_medium=social#google_vignette |

Ofodirinwa: I'm confused as to why this refinery is such a babalabu. This is an unbiased post, I sincerely want to understand what is happening. At first they said that Nigeria had already sold 100% of it's oil to foreigners and in order for him to get oil he has to buy it from abroad.
Now he is saying NNPC is his problem (calling him a monopolist). I have even heard the refinery is not running.
I want to know what is happening because I don't believe he's the only refinery in Nigeria, and some of the others are functioning fine (unless they're not, idk). If any of the things I wrote prior are true we have WAY bigger problems than we're ready to address The refinery is not ready to start working, don't fall for Dangote and the government propaganda because I know someone working at the Dangote refinery and he said it will start working in 2027 |
