plaetton: Nigeria sickens me.
Yes, any family , especially parents , that suffer the loss of a young child deserves all our sympathies and prayers.
But for goodness sake, this young man was neither hero nor a role model for any young person. His death appears to be a clear case of death by misadventure . He was apparently supposed to be in school , getting an education.
His parents in particular, and the general public, rather than this perverse public celebration of his death, ought to be a time of humble and sober reflection on values and attitudes of the current generation of young people.
Shockingly, no one is talking about the cause death and asking serious questions.
Was it drugs, perhaps the first public victims of Fentinyl, the deadly narcotic ravaging America and Europe ?
Was it a case, perhaps, of carbon monoxide poisoning ?
Or was it a case of foul play ? As in ehn...the thing tire me...this was a young man that had what millions in Nigeria may never experience in their lifetime...a very comfortable life... I'm even finding it didifficult to type RIP...This young man killed himself...even if he was poisoned, the truth remains that these guys were addicted to hard drugs...the parents do not seems to see that they are partly responsible for his death...go to the clubs and see how these young ones are drinking and smoking their lives away... It's pathetic.. |

You are a professional in your field but since the job isn't coming much at the present, you engage yourself in other meaningful jobs that can keep you going. Health › Precautions And Safety Tips On Handling Of Gas Cylinders. by Parcks(op): 2:19pm On Sep 18, 2017 |
With the increase in the use of LPG commonly referred to as cooking gas in Nigerian homes, we can say that nigerians are gradually embracing the idea of a faster, cleaner, cheaper alternative to the traditional kerosene stoves. It is estimated that only about 25% of our entire population has switched to LPG with the domestic market consuming about 500,000MT in 2016. This number is expected to double by 2040. So we expect to see more cooking gas retail store springing up in cities, and also semi- rural areas. However, I have observed that there is little or no education of the public, retailers and consumers alike, on proper care of these highly inflammable gas and its accessories ( cylinders, cookers, etc). The efforts by the government and the private sector towards the training of these retailers and sensitization of the consumers appear to be very minimal. This write-up therefore seeks to enligthen the public on important safety procedures in the usage and handling of LPG. 1. Always leave the cooker regulator in the OFF/CLOSE position before opening the cylinder valve. 2. When refilling a cylinder, always ensure that hose fittings are TIGHTLY and CORRECTLY fitted 3. As a gas personnel, (operator or retailer), always ALWAYS wear your safety equipments ( nose masks, hand gloves, etc)...please, ALWAYS!!! 4.Ensure that you close the cylinder valve before changing carousel (applicable to retailers). 5. In the case of a hose clip pull-out, NEVER USE YOU HANDS/PALM TO CLOSE THE OUTLET OF THE GAS HOSE!!! First, Do not Panic! Next, quickly close the cylinder valve. Finally, direct the hose to the ground, away from any perceived fire source!!! Again, DO NOT PANIC!!! 6. Always have a fire extinguisher close by, whether you are a retailer or a consumer. Very IMPORTANT!!! 7. Always ensure you have a bucket of sand close to the area where the gas cylinder is located. 8. In the event of a gas splash on any part of your body, DO NOT USE WATER!!! immediately find engine oil and rub on the affected area.. again, DO NOT USE WATER!!! 9.In the case of a fire outbreak, again, try as much as possible NOT TO PANIC. Then try to cut off the gas supply by closing the cylinder regulator. Next, use a Fire Extinguisher or Sand to put off the fire. NB: Gas cylinders DO NOT explode IMMEDIATELY there is a fire outbreak! Explosions are as result of the heat released which leads to the expansion of the gas inside the cylinder and thus, causing it to explode after FEW MINUTES!!!

Cc: Laslaticala, please help move this to FP. People need to be enlightened about Safety in LPG usage. |

deepwater: Annual Bawo? Baba it' s every 25days at most.
A 3rd engineer (entry level for engineering cadre) on a supply boat in a service company earns more than that. Don't forget the requirement to be a 3rd engineer is either a National diploma with 12months cadetship or WASSCE with 36months sea term. Degree doesn't count, just get your CoC and you are good to go!
SHELLs pay is among the least within the IOC bracket. @deepwater, I have being following this thread for some time now and just viewing the comments. I must say you are really knowledgeable and your comments attest to that fact. I would love to learn a few things from you... let me know how I can reach you... PS: I also applied, production engineering...got served my letter ystday, but like I also say, THEIR LOSS... moved on already and with God's grace, I'm sure gonna be successful. |

tesppidd: what stinks? Besides English language , French and Arabic are the mostly widely spoken languages in the world. The curriculum is intended to make Nigerians communicate better all over the world. It's a perfect curriculum, what stinks? Ogbeni, get your facts right. Both French and Arabic are not even in the top 4. If they had to introduce foreign language, why not chinese or Spanish, the top two most spoken languages in the world? |
Politics › Re: Removal Of CRK: Reno Omokri And FFK React To New School Curriculum by Parcks(m): 11:07am On Jun 20, 2017 |
Ferdinandu: You people should cool down. Arabic studies is language studies, not religious studies. It is completely different from Islamic studies which is a religious studies. Even Christians in Arab speaking Countries conduct their Christian worship in Arabic.
Some ignorant people like Reno and FFK slipped in Islamic in front of the Arabic to continue causing division and confusion. Guy, I usually don't quote people but this your comment is so myopic. If the Fed. Govt. Wanted to introduce or encourage language studies, why didnt they place spanish as an option alongside french? Think, young man...even if you are an atheist, at least you should still be able to think objectively...peace! |

Nnamdi kanu their terror leader taught them to become rebels on his evil radio before been locked up like a church rat that he his Anyone calling for the break up of Nigeria deserves the bokoharam treatment. Bokoharam has flags, IPOB has flags. Their common objective is to establish a sovereign state out of Nigeria which will never happen. Lord luggard saw the strength in our diversity before handing over power to the north. This is why the easterners are angry and will not subject themselves to northern oligarchs but unfortunately ojukwu later realized igbos progress is in Nigeria and can only be attained by co-operation with the west and north. If the igbos are ready to denounce biafra we will gladly vote in an igbo president. Biafra will never come in Jesus name. Amen gibberish.... |
