President Muhammadu Buhari is said to be angry over last week’s sack of Lawal Daura, former Director-General, Department of State Services (DSS), by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.

Investigations by Daily Independent in Abuja at the weekend indicated that the president and those close to him were unhappy given the manner Daura was abruptly relieved of his job by Osinbajo.

Daura was fired following last Tuesday’s early morning invasion of the National Assembly by masked security operatives which prevented lawmakers and members of staff, including the Clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Omolori, from accessing their offices.

Although the masked security operatives claimed they acted based on “order from above”, reports indicated that Daura didn’t get the nod of Osinbajo, who is acting on behalf of President Buhari, to carry out the operation.

While dousing tension that the action by Osinbajo may not have received the blessings of President Buhari, who is currently in the United Kingdom (UK) on vacation, Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, said the presidency was one, adding that there was no way such a decision would have been taken without an accord between Osinbajo and his boss.

However, a presidency source who spoke with Daily Independent said President Buhari and his men were not happy over the manner Daura, a close ally of the president, was unceremoniously booted out of office.

He, however, said President Buhari would not likely reverse the decision upon his return, saying, “Doing so may lead to widespread condemnations in Nigeria and the international community.”

He continued: “I can tell you authoritatively that President Buhari was not in the know before Daura was fired.

“Given Buhari’s style, he wouldn’t have fired him immediately like the Acting President did".

"I believe the Acting President, a very tough and disciplined man, has had enough of the insults from the cabals and decided to put his foot on the ground by using Daura as a scapegoat.

“Prior to this, many of these powerful cabals believed they were only answerable to President Buhari who appointed them.

“If you remember, during the last medical vacation by President Buhari, some of these people bypassed the Acting President and took sensitive documents to the president in the UK but he sent them back to Nigeria, telling them to report to Osinbajo whom he had delegated authority to.

“I believe, with the development, other powerful appointees who had hitherto taken Osinbajo for granted will now sit up and know they can lose their jobs before President Buhari’s return and any action taken by the Acting President may likely not be reversed, especially if it is in national interest and is applauded by majority of Nigerians and the international community".

“I understand the Acting President also decided to fire Daura to exonerate himself and prove to Nigerians that he knew nothing about the invasion.

“I think the DSS was trying to rope him in when they said they barricaded the National Assembly after ‘order from above’.

“When people hear the word ‘order from above’, the impression they always have is that the order is from the president.

“Yet, Osinbajo as the Acting President, knew nothing about the invasion. I think they knew that if they briefed him, he won’t approve it.”

Also speaking to Daily Independent, another credible source said: “If you look at the statement by Femi Adesina, he never categorically said President Buhari endorsed the sack.

“He only said the Acting President has the full powers of a president which he exercised. There is nowhere Adesina said President Buhari was briefed and he gave his nod for Daura’s dismissal. There are still some issues there which remain unresolved.

“From what we know, the Acting President takes full responsibility for the actions and he is ready to damn the consequences.

“If you know him, he is a very contented man and he is more of a technocrat than a politician. If you remember in May this year, he said he was ready to resign.

“Remember what he said in Benue. He said: ‘My Lord Bishop, you said you are not a politician, I am also not a politician. As a matter of fact, I’m also a priest and I’m a Christian, a born-again Christian. Because I’m a born again Christian, my destiny is not determined by any man but by God who I serve. Let me assure you that under no circumstances, none whatsoever, will I give up my faith or refuse to stand up for my faith. You can take that to the bank. Even the position that I currently occupy, I did not ask for it and I’m prepared to leave it at a short notice’.

“So that is Osinbajo for you. The president, including his loyalists, are not happy about the decision but the deed has been done.”

In its reaction, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said it was not surprised that President Buhari was unhappy over the development.

Kola Ologbondiyan, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, said even if the president had decided to punish Daura, it won’t be as fast and drastic as done by Osinbajo.

“We are not surprised because even if President Buhari decides to punish the sacked DSS boss, it would not have been swift and drastic as done by the Acting President.”

Senate President Bukola Saraki says he cannot “descend into the gutter” with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over comments that he is incompetent.

The APC had through its acting spokesman, Yekini Nabena left a harsh comment for Saraki, saying he is a failure who swims in controversy.

He said having publicly humiliated his father and sister, Saraki’s betrayal did not come as a surprise to the ruling party.

But in his response issued by Yusuph Olaniyonu, his spokesman, Saraki said: “We can’t descend into the gutter with these characters”.

He added that the APC had not recovered from Tuesday’s attempt to subvert democracy.

The APC had in an earlier statement by its acting National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Yekini Nabena, said that Saraki was not fit for the office of president of the Senate.

The party said, “In every democratic country, the position of the Senate President is one of the highest political offices one can attain.

“It is a position reserved for the best of the best, experienced and exemplary politicians who by their character and conduct in public offices, the younger generation look up to as role models.”

Recall that on Tuesday, the Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) had prevented lawmakers from gaining entrance to the national assembly.

The lawmakers on elected on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had accused their APC counterparts of attempting to remove Saraki with the connivance of security operatives.

The ruling party has been mounting pressure on Saraki to step down since he defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but the senate president said only two-thirds of his colleague can remove him.

Press Statement

NASS Siege Report: IGP, Oshiomhole Colluding to Implicate Saraki, Says Timi Frank

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has accused the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and the Adams Oshiomhole-led APC of plotting to blame the recent failed siege on the National Assembly on the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

He revealed that the APC in desperate move has perfected a sinister plot to implicate Saraki in the final report and thereafter charge him with treason just like the police did in the Offa robbery case.

Frank, in a statement Friday in Abuja, said the failure of the IGP, who is known to be at loggerheads with Saraki and the National Assembly, to name the “APC Politicians” he alleged to have masterminded the invasion is a deliberate ploy to  again rope in Saraki and pave way for his immediate arrest and prosecution.

Frank said: “It is commendable that the IGP has submitted an interim report on the siege of the National Assembly to the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.

“However, nobody should be in doubt of the fact that the IGP, Ibrahim Idris, has deep hatred for the President of Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, considering that Saraki had severally called on the IGP to appear before the Senate to account for the incessant killings across the nation due to his inefficiency.

“Besides, the IGP’s interim report is a clear indication of a grand cover up of the failed plot by Adams Oshiomhole and his cohorts in the APC to forcefully remove Saraki as Senate President.

“Is it not curious that the IGP refused to add statements made by Daura that he deployed DSS operatives to lay siege on the National Assembly based on the orders of Oshiomhole and Abba Kyari - the chief of staff to the President - in his report?

“Recall that I had in a statement on Monday morning alerted Nigerians of a clandestine meeting between Oshiomhole, 30 APC Senators and the former DG of DSS, Lawal Daura, where the plot to take over the National Assembly by security operatives was hatched.

“I had equally alerted Nigerians that the illegal invasion was to pave the way for APC Senators to illegally reconvene the Senate and impeach Saraki and his Deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.

“This plot is still well and alive in spite of their failed bid to subvert democracy last Monday,” he said.

Frank again raised the alarm that there is ongoing plot by the APC leadership to twist the report of the IGP and use it as a weapon to incriminate Saraki and thereafter charge him with an offence of treasonable felony.

He added: “In the said report, the IGP blamed the former DG of DSS of working with politicians. The report shows that the IGP is preparing another scheme to implicate Saraki and accuse him of treason.

“The IGP’s failure to categorically name those behind the failed siege on the National Assembly is deliberate in order to fill the lacuna with the name of his arch enemy, Saraki!

“Let me once again put Nigerians and the international community on notice that the IGP in connivance with Oshiomhole and APC Senators are about to shift from Offa robbery issue to treasonable felony charges against Bukola Saraki in order to clamp him into jail.”

He warned that Oshiomhole and the Presidency have not relented in their onslaught against the Senate President and plot to forcefully takeover the Senate’s leadership.

“Let Nigerians and the international community be aware once again that Oshiomhole and his co-travellers have vowed not to rest until they force Saraki to relinquish his position as the President of the Senate.

“From information available to me, Oshiomhole has commissioned a team of hatchet writers to perpetually haul attacks on Saraki in the media.

“They also plan to again use the police to invade the National Assembly next week in their never ending game to truncate democracy in Nigeria,” he said.

He called on Nigerians to be at alert to called fresh threats from the APC to derail democracy in the country while appealing to the international community not to abandon Nigeria at a time anti-democratic forces are up in arms against democracy, rule of law, human rights and due process in the country.

He added: “Nigerians fought and many paid the supreme prize to reinstate democracy in the country and it is only Nigerians that can help sustain democracy in the country.

“We cannot afford to sleep and allow these brood of dictators, spearheaded by Oshiomhole, the Vice Chairman South West of the APC, Chief Niyi Adebayo and the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, to truncate our democracy and destroy the very fabric of our nation,” he said.

While thanking the European Union, United Kingdom, USA, Canada and other leaders of the international community for standing solidly with the country in the face of threats to its democracy and respect for the rule of law, Frank urged the nation’s allies to continue to play their unbiased role to help sustain democracy in the country.

NASS siege: Saraki has no pact with sacked DSS DG Daura -Frank

...Wants Oshiomohle, Abba Kyari, others held responsible

Contrary to the insinuation that the sacked Director General of the Department of State Security (DSS) Lawal Daura, was indirectly working for the Senate President Bukola Saraki, a former chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Comrade Timi Frank, has asked the public to dismiss what he discribed as "misinformation and a cheap blackmail."

He, however called Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to hold National Chairman of APC Adams Oshiomohle, his deputy Niyi Adebayo, the Chief of Staff to the President Abba Kyari and the sacked DG of SSS, Lawal Daura responsible for the deployment of armed SSS personnel that laid siege at National Assembly last Tuesday.

Frank declared that at no point in time the President of the Senate had anything in common apart from official duty with the former DG of SSS.

Reacting in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, Frank said both the National Chairman of APC and the sacked DG SSS with other known cabals in the presidency actually planned the seiged Nigerians witnessed on Tuesday at National Assembly

"Information at our disposal revealed that as at Thursday 2nd August 2018, National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole, his deputy Niyi Adebayo, the Chief of Staff to the President Abba Kyari and the sacked DG of SSS, Lawal Daura, summoned the clerk of National Assembly, Sanni Omoloro who was approved and scheduled to commence his annual vacation on 3rd August 2018 outside the country, but was instructed that the presidency has cancelled his earlier approved vacation as he will be needed to be in Senate on Tuesday to swear in a new leadership of the Senate.

"Sources close to the Clerk of National Assembly privy to his travel itinerary also revealed to us that the Clerk, based on the instruction given to him by those mentioned above, had no choice than to cancel his planned vacation."

The former APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, however called on Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, to thoroughly order investigation into the activities of the persons mentioned.

"With this available information, I hereby call on Acting President Yemi Osinbajo if he is genuinely committed to get to the bottom of the seige at the National Assembly to consider above information given.”

Politics / Re: APC Expels Oyo Deputy Speaker, Musa Over Anti-party Activities by parisha429: 5:51pm On Aug 08, 2018
APC HAS NO CHILLS YOU SMELL LIKE A SNITCH THEY LEAVE U N BURN U.

Ebullience:
The Saki West chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state, on Wednesday, said it has expelled the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. AbduWasiu Musa over what they termed “anti-party activities”.

Chairman and Secretary of Saki Local Government chapter of the ruling party, Mr. Tiamiyu Ayinla and Mr. S.A. Adeniji made this known via a statement made available to DAILY POST in Ibadan, the state capital.

The Deputy Speaker, who represents Saki West state constituency, DAILY POST gathered had been romancing with the newly-formed African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state.

Musa, our correspondent recalled, was among the lawmakers who went to finalise their defection plans from APC and PDP to the ADC with the former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta last week.

It was gathered that Musa’s expulsion from APC may be as a result of his plans to join the ADC.

The duo, while affirming that the party has expelled the Deputy Speaker, added that his meetings and pictures which have been published in newspapers, confirmed that he is no more in the political party.

The party, in the letter copies of which were also sent to the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Speaker of the House, Hon. Olagunju Ojo and the state APC chairman, Chief Akin Oke, maintained that Musa was expelled from the party because he has failed to represent the interest of those who voted him into power.

The statement reads, “We have observed with keen interest of you anti-party activities which has brought embarrassment to the party…

“Your meetings and photographs as published in the the national dailies have also shown and indicated that you are no longer a party member and member of APC.

“You are hereby expelled from the party; as you no longer represent the interest of those who voted you into power.”

NgeneUkwenu:
How can a whole Senate Majority leader not understand his duties as a Leader of the Senate?

Why is the National Assembly filled with empty heads?

I mean what is Lawan doing in the face of the legislative rascality being carried by Saraki?

Why is he begging Saraki and his gangs to to resume when he has the power to do so?

The Senate rule stipulates that when the Senate is in recess and there is matter of urgent importancy, a written application signed by not less than 1/3 Of the entire senate members shall be presented to the Senate President asking him to call for an urgent sitting to attend to the matter... If he refuses the quorum has already been formed. So they have every power to enter the chamber and carry out their legislative duties..

Is that too difficult for that fatty orobo Senate leader?

Politics / Re: Governor Ortom Speaks Amid Impeachment Saga, Explains Why Notice Is Null, Void by parisha429: 1:51pm On Jul 30, 2018
Ezenwammadu:
The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has reacted to the report of the impeachment notice served him by eight members of the State’s House of Assembly on Monday.

Crisis in the State House of Assembly took a new turn on Monday as eight lawmakers served an impeachment notice on the governor.

The lawmakers, Adanyi Benjamin, Terhemba Chabo, Benjamin Nungwa, Bem Mngutyo, Adams Okloho, James Okefe and Nick Eworo were among members that moved for the governor’s impeachment.

The plot was coordinated by Terkimbi Ikyange who was removed as speaker of the Assembly last week.

Speaking to DAILY POST on the development through his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, Ortom said he was still the governor of the State, adding that the lawmakers lack the constitutional powers to remove him from office.

He said, “Ortom is still the Chief Executive of the State. You can’t just impeach a Governor in a flash. You have to go through all the legal and constitutional processes.

“They have not been able to form a quorum, so it is not possible. Only eight people served the governor the notice, even at that, 2 other members who were part of the cangaroo sitting were on the side of the governor, so how can anybody call that an impeachment notice. It’s laughable and must be ignored completely.

“And for the record, there is a court injunction restricting the impeached Speaker from parading himself as the Speaker of the House and that court injunction has not been vacated.

“He has been suspended for 6 months, he doesn’t have any constitutional right to go back to that Assembly.

“He has done nothing to vacate that injunction so whatever he did stands null and void.

1. According to Musa Lawal the spokesperson for Gombe people's congress, the governor has worked wonders especially in the area of infrastructure, citing network of Gombe Township Road, Kumi Township Road and Biliri Township Road.

2. “Under Dankwambo, Gombe now has the only state owned University of Science and Technology in the North East, College of Education Billiri, Polytechnic at Bajoga and College of Legal and Islamic Studies".

as much as he is doing this much alot is needed to be done to improve lifes of the common people in gombe and nigerians as a whole.
he can shift his focus of road repair and emphasize more on education especially on girl child education bringing the awareness of educate the girl child you educate the nation.
over all his a good candidate.
