According to a report published by CNN, Ethiopia now stand tall as the country with the fastest growing economy in Africa. Report: Ethiopia, Africa's second most populated country, is forecast to be the fastest growing economy in Sub-Saharan Africa this year, according to new data from the IMF . Ethiopia's economy is predicted to grow by 8.5% this year. The figures signal continued economic expansion following a long period of impressive growth. In the last decade, Ethiopia has averaged around 10% economic growth, according to the IMF. To boost the economy, the country is pursuing a number of large-scale infrastructure projects, including the Grand Renaissance Dam and a railway network. "(Ethiopia) has had a very high growth rate and I think that's a result in large part of a very concentrated effort by the government to boost industrial production and manufacturing," said Vijaya Ramachandran, an economist at the American think tank Center for Global Development (CGD). Ramachandran, along with three academics, released a report suggesting Ethiopia can follow in China's footsteps, and become a destination for low-wage manufacturing jobs. PoliticsBuhari Will Win Easily In 2019 - Lai Mohammed by pascal558(op): 3:49pm On Apr 24, 2018
Lai Mohammed in an interview with bloomberg has said
President Muhammadu Buhari will win the 2019 presidential
election “easily.”
The information minister said “He (Buhari) is very strong and
well. I have never
lost sleep over the re-election. Buhari will easily win.”
He also spoke on the reason why the war against boko-
haram is not yielding enough result, attributing it to the
division(factions) in the terrorist group.
He further added that “The talks are looking good. Some
people will criticize this and say how about all those people
they killed. But we cannot continue to be stranded in the past
forever. We should think about the future, and want a peaceful
future.
“The issue is not ethnic or religious, but a problem of
diminishing resources, a growing population and climate
change that’s dramatically reduced the size of Lake Chad and
disrupted the economy in the region.”

Foreign AffairsIran Bans Foreign Social Networks In Schools by pascal558(op): 10:52am On Apr 16, 2018
Iran’s ministry of education on Sunday banned the use of
foreign social media networks in schools, the ILNA news
agency reported, amid a push by Tehran to limit the influence
of outside online platforms.
Schools must “only use domestic social networks” for their
communication, the ministry said in a statement, according to
the reformist-linked news agency.
Telegram is the most popular social network in Iran. In 2017,
the app claimed it had 40-million monthly users in the Islamic
Republic.
Instagram is also very popular, and companies in Iran — like
elsewhere — often use both platforms to communicate directly
with customers.
Less used, Facebook and Twitter are blocked in Iran, but
easily accessible using a virtual private network (VPN).
During a wave of protests that hit dozens of Iranian cities over
at the start of the year, Iranian authorities temporarily banned
Telegram, accusing the app of allowing foreign-based
“counter-revolutionary” groups to fuel unrest.
Since then, authorities have sought to develop Iranian social
media networks and limit the reliance on foreign-based
platforms, which Tehran accuses of hosting sites deemed
hostile to the Islamic Republic.
Several Iranian platforms offering services similar to Telegram
have emerged in recent months, like the Soroush network,
which already claims to have five million subscribers.
According to the official IRNA news agency,
Telecommunication Minister Mohammad-Javad Azari
Jahromi recently pledged Iranian networks would offer the
same guarantees of confidentiality as foreign platforms.
“No message is read, and no (personal) information is
communicated to anyone,” he told parliament.
In a statement recently posted to his website, Iran’s Supreme
Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the government should
guarantee the “security and privacy” of people on the internet.
Khamenei called intrusions into online privacy “haram”, or
prohibited from a religious standpoint.
Iranian media has appeared to encourage people to join the
new networks by assuring viewers they will continue to
operate even if Telegram is again banned.
