Leyqute:It's that mentality that guarantees titles they go hand in hand...If we win, it means we are developing just fine and even if we don't, we should be thereabout... I'll be disappointed if Liverpool or City leave us 10-15 pts behind come May, 2021. |
Trevor012:Same defense? Wow!!! Allison, Trent Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson? Speak the truth and it will set you free... Manchester City same defense? Laporte? Same midfield? Fernandinho? Same attack? Aguero? Baba try dey watch matches, not just Manchester United matches, e go dey help you when you dey form opinion for here and elsewhere... |
Leyqute:Leicester has a question mark in front, it's a question... February is not far off, we'll have this discussion again God willing... |
Trevor012:Please drop the team that helped them achieve that feat and let's compare with the present reality... |
handelex:What's the current reality? Let me tell you about the current reality... Liverpool are without VVD, Gomez and lately Matip...Their only fit CB is an expert DM who will be partnered with a teenager... City have Aguero that best forward out injured and their best CB has been injured for some time now...Age too is not on their side with Fernandinho and Aguero struggling... Chelsea are struggling to find their feet with so many new players... Arsenal are someway off a title challenge... Spurs have Mou... Manchester United have a team that have been together for quite some time and have all their players fit bar our player doctors... Above is the current reality...Is it when our rivals have rediscovered their form or replace aging players that we will be ready to challenge? |
When Chelsea won the league with Conte, they weren't favourites, they just kicked on as the season progressed after a win against Arsenal or is it Liverpool and from there, they treated every match like a final...If only our players will have the belive that we can and take every game by the scruff of the neck, we will win the league... You need to see Bruno's reaction to Rashford's goal yesterday and right there you'd see a man who believes impossible is nothing... |
Whilst at it, who are the contenders at this point? Manchester City? Liverpool? Chelsea? Leicester? Tottenham? Why will Liverpool and City be contenders after 15 games yet a team that is 2 points off the top and above City can't be classed as contenders? You guys are towing the line of we are not contenders just to protect Ole...If it was any other manager, I can guarantee that most of you would be talking about the quality of players in our team... |
KingAlabi:Why are you so unstable? After the game you acknowledged that we are now contenders for the title and not up to 24hrs after you are supporting a post that says we are asking for too much by saying we can win this season seeing how things have panned out thus far...Pick a struggle bro... |
Leyqute:At the start of the season, Liverpool and Citg were outright favorites but as the season has progressed, Liverpool and City have been hit by injuries to their best important players resulting in their inconsistent performances thus far. Do you expect us to see out rivals faltering yet stick to a top 4 finish when the possibility of winning the league is there? It's this review of the season that is making us believe we stand a chance if we maintain same level of consistency... Talking about being a big team, in the period under consideration, we have won one FA Cup, UEL, Carling Cup and Community Shield and reached the final of the FA Cup as well as semi finals of major cup competition...The only thing missing is the EPL title and UCL...Is this Manchester United standard? Hell no but we've been thereabout...Do we have the quality to nount a serious challenge? I say YES in the affirmative...We have the right mix of experience and youth to blend...When you look at the investment in the squad and the quality of players we have, it'd be shocking if we don't see ourselves as strong contenders... If we are not contenders now, is it next season when Liverpool are back to full fitness and City with a refreshed team that we will be contenders? |
BARAJ92:Teams like most businesses review their targets as the months go buy. When Fergie joined, his target was to stabilize the team and gradually shoot for the top and he did just that and when we got to the top, his target changed from just finishing amongst the top 4 to winning the league or at worst the FA Cup or UCL and he didn't fail to do that consistently... Ole and Manchester United need to win trophies as we are too big to settle for a top 4 finish. We set our own standard here. Arsenal and Chelsea might be okay with a top 4 finish but not us... Go to any Liverpool fan page, even with VVD and Gomez injured, they still believe they'll win the league whereas some fans here think we shouldn't be classed as contenders even though we have been very lucky with injuries and have a large and technically gifted team...If two of our first team members are injured, I'm certain Ole will be excused for whatever bad performance we put up... |
BARAJ92:Have we kicked on from that FA Cup, UEL and Carling cup win? The answer is no...We need to start believing we are good enough to win because we are... |
You guys don't understand. It's like a struggling company posting negatives figures for a long stretch and after hiring a new manager, they continue posting loses but at a reduced rate, they'd definitely stick the the manager that shows such promise and after a few years, they begin posting profits, huge profits... Do you think the board of directors of such companies will remember the past if the same business with the same manager pose loses again for 2 years? Nope, they'll look to higher another manager that will continue the positive trend. Check Poch with Spurs... In the business world, Uber didn't record profits in first couple of years but their business model showed promises thus investors weren't deterred and now, they're doing well...If they begin posting losses again, investors will begin to ask questions that demand answers, no one cares about the days when they were struggling... |
BARAJ92:The era when clubs stick to one manager is long gone. Poch did very well with Spurs but when they started struggling he was kicked out...Also, see Mou at Chelsea and Conte afterwards...Klopp also left Dortmund when they were struggling irrespective of his earlier success with them. If Liverpool go a season without winning a trophy now, Klopp will come under scrutiny and I am quite certain Pool won't take it easy should they go 2 seasons without a trophy. After Van Gaals Fa cup winning season to the season we won the league cup and UEL, we should have kicked on demanding for silverware from every manager lest his job is under threat...I tell you, if it was Poch and not Ole who was appointed, nobody will give him the benefit of the doubt this long... Koeman will most likely be fired by Barcelona should they end the season trophyless...You have to set standards... |
Odunharry:Of course, Bailly is the first choice... |
CapitalCee:Gradually, we will all be on the same page where will believe once more that we have a team capable to reaching the top and staying there... |
Trevor012:Lol...You must be new here...We have had reasons to argue, sometimes very heated arguments but in all, we know too well that it's for the good of the team that's why you have find arguments here go south unlike the 'pant fc' thread... FFS, they're fans who still supported Mourinho here even when it was obvious he had lost the plot but then, we saw it as their opinion and moved on...If the team starts dropping points and playing poorly, we will complain and since you can't replace all the players, the best bet to rejig a faltering team is to change the manager...It doesn't mean I or anyone hates him...I know you will prolly not get what I'm on about but I just had to... |
afrodoc2:Hehehe the way you take dey hit on this 'no pant' guru, I doubt if them go fit sing her praises here again... You just dey capitalize on that point since. As e be now, any Chelsea fan wey look me anyhow go hear about Marina, the pantless negotiator... |
Trevor012:You're fighting a battle in your head, one that only you is involved...You'll be fine... |
Odunharry:As a CB, bar the poor performance vs Istanbul Basaksehir wherein the whole team was poor, he has been solid, need I remind you of how he made Neymar and Mbappe look ordinary? |
Expert17:When they play together we hardly press high up the pitch for fear of being caught on the counter since they lack pace... |
eph12:Just checked, you are right. Hopefully Newcastle do the lord's work tomorrow and we win vs Aston Villa on Friday... Villa are a tough nut to crack... |
KingAlabi:It's for reasons like this and the inconsistency of rivals that makes some of us think we are contenders...But unfortunately, some of you still don't think we are contenders... |
Unless Ole is mad, one of Bailly/Tuanzebe must always partner Maguire/Lindelof... In our best defensive performance of the season, Tuanzebe and Lindelof did well against PSG...I don't fancy two ball playing CBs, we need some form of grit and pace which Tuanzebe and Bailly offers. I reckon Tuanzebe and Bailly might also workout as Tuanzebe is quite comfortable on the ball... |
Leyqute:He was right to play for a point especially as he has a lean squad no thanks to injuries...In their bench, they had like 5 teenagers and with the stress of playing 2 matches in 3 days, you can understand his decision... I acknowledge they're usually very compact. |
Odunharry:We have a game in hand remember... |
elrony:Make our defense dey try help out like today... |
If only we held on against Leicester City, we'd be topping the table... |
Win even when you don't play well, that's how champs do... |
Yes!!! Come on you reds... |
Martial, your fada... |
Rashford has been awful tonight... |
melodyogonna:I think so... |
