Wow wow wow... I had no idea reasonable and intellectual people were still on Nairaland... You just gained a follwer. Imagine if half the population of Nigeria shared your mindset. Please do not shy away from sharing your views or commenting on threads because yours is a breath of fresh air and a sight for sore eyes in this once reputable forum. Reference: Simple. That is what it should be. That is the way democracy works everywhere it impacts positively on countries and nations. A government stands or falls on performance, period, no sentiments.
There is no other incentive for politicians to work for the good of the people if they cannot be removed by the people. No company or entrepreneur will employ staff it cannot sack if discipline or performance comes to question.
That is why the peak of democracy came in 2015 when a non performing and corrupt government was removed at the polls but since then performace has not been the criteria two elections after. This is the result in Nigeria today, all development indices today are below 2015 levels.
So it is up to Nigerians to decide if the present government has performed and deserves another term. They should decide if the government is listening to them, doing their bidding and improving their lives, whether it's austerity measures are equitable and sustainable, whether their lives and properties are safe going forward.
People should vote based on their experiences under this government, period. When a school or job or professional examination is conducted the establishment is not interested in what you knew yesterday or what you may know tomorrow with more effort. You will get that position, promotion or certificate based on what you know and can do now.
Elections are the examinations of political office holders. You, Mr. Citizen are one of many examiners. |

I might not like NK... but the FG messed up big time... most of his critics know this deep down but are blinded by hate chosen6: So to you, a local warrant is an enough to make an international arrest?
Same thing the Appeal Court Judgement that asked for the release of Nnamdi KANU confirmed that a local warrant can not enable an international arrest.
Obviously, supporting this govt makes peeps sound dumb. |

Seun good evening... i am dropping this comment as regards to the newly added block option... please i will suggest you make this option permanent rather than the current tempoary block optio.... there is no point in blocking any user if it will just be for a tempoary purpose... Please look into this. Seun: We have made it easy for you to login to your Nairaland account without using a password. We have also made it easy to register without having to hunt down security codes in your inbox. Just click the With Google link in the screenshot below. Google will handle the rest.
PS: You can still register and login the old-fashioned way. The Google option is for your convenience. |

Wow... look at the way you entirely turned an insightful topic and thread into a tribal one... amazing UltraSolid: Lol. Sure Nigeria has problems. Yet it is funny it is the IPOB lot, starting from the ever shamelessly hypocritical wailer called Racoon, making the most noise.
These are a people who queued behind unelected hate preachers in Kanu, Ekpa and co to lead them, in place of their elected leaders, now making the most hypoctrical noise about the strength of the rule of law in other nations when their own region pays homage to the most lawless hijacking of officially mandated power in the whole universe.
There is no rule of law in IPOBland currently, with elected leaders hiding their faces, while UGM and ESN cultist killers declare arbitrary sit-at-home and also weild the power to summarily execute anyone in Igboland however highly placed as they did to Chike Akunyili.
Yet the shameless hypocrites cannot help themselves and must be loudest demonising Nigeria here as if we are all ignorant of their sordid reality in the SE they seem unbothered about.
For the shameless IPOB lot, charity does not begin at home and they never have time to look in the mirror to note how warped they are before rushing to play saints and supreme beings online.
When Obi, their messiah mentor, is the biggest hypocrite who sees and hear no evil from the SE, yet is constantly villifying all other regions of Nigeria daily, then what can one expect from ordinary Igbos?
Thoroughly shameless, lawless and problematic people who have constituted themselves into a menace to Nigeria today yet possess no power of introspection to discern they are a big part of the problem while having the temerity to be forming saints up and down as their lawless sadist East continues to burns daily . Pathetic people. |

@NB1912, I am considering pursuing my Masters degree in either Canada or Australia (I am partial to Australia though) by next year (2025) having graduated this year (2024). But with the current negative visa trend in Australia, I am a bit discouraged, do you think it's worth trying the Australian route anyways or taking my chance with Canada instead as I already have a sibling studying in Canada already. NB1912: Yes, you can but not recommended. Chances of visa refusal is 95% when you apply to colleges. Go for BSc or Masters. |

This is the most reasonable comment I've seen you post so far post=128127085: Very Good Development. Slow and steady we will get to the nation of our dreams. A land flowing with Milk and honey. This is a very good one from the president.
Addendum..... How to move our Darling country forward, minimu wage-wise....
1. Abolish SECURITY VOTE in NIGERIA. Nigeria will pay N60,000 minimum wage comfortably.
2. a) Abolish CONSTITUENCY PROJECT FUNDS b) Reduce number of ADVISERS to SENATE PRES(2), HOUSE SPEAKER(2), GOVs(4), PRESIDENT(5), VP(2) c) Reduce current ALL Political Office Holders PAY CHEQUES by 51.5%, without exception d) Do away with special remuneration to POLITICAL ADVISERS & PUBLIC SERVANTS e.g; Purchase of Private Vehicles, Houses, granting Govt paid Vacations, paying for 1st & Business Class Transportations, etc, etc... e) Abolish payment of OVERSEAS MEDICAL BILLS for Political Office Holders. f) Eliminate PRIVATE PRACTICE in public workforce g) Eliminate participation of Public Workforce in Partisan Politics. h) Institute EMPLOYMENT BY MERIT, and eliminate UNDEREMPLOYMENT. i) Review and eliminate allocation of Govt paid POLITICAL AIDES & SUPPORT STAFF to Political Office Holders.
With (1) + (2) Nigeria would pay a minimum wageof N90,000 comfortably....... (3, 4 and 5 To be completed on another thread)
God bless Nigeria We will get there.......
THANKS for your kind words. But , FYI, We are not a party people @MANNA. We are not a member of APC, (we swear on God's name.) We vote for good people, no matter the political party they are in.

Kukutenla: You can't blame Obidients for moving closer to Tinubu while he's destroying the economy. That's a silly thing to say. It's like saying you saw your enemy coming and you ran inside a burning building. Are you not mad? it amazes me the way people reason... for them it's about an individual rather than the good of the nation at large.. I am not against anyone's support for an individual but please support with sense... praise them when they do well and call them out when they fail or mess up... that's they only way the nation can grow, not blind and unreasonable support |
Politics › Re: Coming Generations Will Have To Pay Nigeria’s Current Debts – Obasanjo by Patriottt: 9:16am On Jan 04, 2024 |
So anybody that criticizes the sitting Government for their insensitivity and shortcomings is an Obidient?? Na your type follow contribute to the condition of our country Zico5: Instead of these obidients to contribute meaningfully to any political discussion, they will deviate to Tinubu issue. I don't know if many of them are just shallow in thinking or they think all these attacks up and down have meaning to anybody. They fail to realise that the more they attack Tinubu, the more we tend to move closer to him. All the state of federation are borrowing money, federal government inclusive. The debt is geographically distributed. What these people are using all the borrowing money for should be our center point. |
